The Canceled Division 9 Was Left 4 Dead Before Valve Did It

Cool. My main complaint about left four dead is the lack of effect a campaign has. There is no follow up, no real reward for the next 'level'. The idea that you can restore power etc is nice in that it would give some reward and some incentive.

Looks like they modded Swat 4, made a few new weapons, skinned the civilians and made em zombies, made new levels and made it look awesome.

They could always tune it up a bit and release it as a Xbox Live / PSN aracde game on the cheap. That level looks nearly done.

Sounds like a cool concept, but honestly I think we get a better deal out of left 4 dead.

First of all WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT MOVEMENT SPEED?!! I get they want to create a feeling of horror where you can't escape the horde but JESUS CHRIST.

Also I understand that their trying to create a feeling of suspenceful horror, but as anyone who plays Left 4 Dead knows once you've been though 2 or 3 campaigns you know almost exactly what the zombies are going to do and it stops being frieghtening, it doesn't help that your mate is talking bullshit while you play. Where as with l4d from that moment on it just becomes a frantic race, with this game I imagine it would have become tedious as hell, once again jumping back to the movement speed.

I have to say though the concept of having a base and having to go out for supplies in a sandboxesc game is one that I find very interesting. Personally I wouldn't mind if someone made a Left 4 Dead mod or game mode that was simular to this.

So a zombie horror/survival game that is actually scary, and you need to do actual stuff other than kill to survive?

Yeah, I would much rather pay $60 for that than I did for Bioshock...

I want that game.

I'd pick it over Left 4 Dead
I was thinking that too... this seems to actually be scary and have a story, the zombies seem quite realistic as well... as real as zombies get anyway...

Which is VERY real!

It actually sounds like a more realisitic version of Left 4 Dead. That's no way a bad thing of course as the idea of building up your fortress from the ground up and gathering supplies from the Zombie infected city sounds like a pretty cool idea.

You know what Ken, I think you should go ahead and make it... make it longer, harder and with more blood... I totally didnt mean for that to sound like it did...

Anyway, yeah... maybe a cool city roaming thing... have a hide out, build up your defences... look for survivors... supplies... ways to get out of the city that may or may not lead to traps by other people or more zombies...

I just made myself super psyched for this game, when is it being released Ken? D:

Certainly a fair trade. Although I do like the idea that this had. Would have been intresting to see where it went

Built on the same engine as SWAT 4
Funny you should mention that, but the room at 2:30 and the garage it's in appear to be recycled from SWAt 4's multiplayer, or at the very least follow a nearly identical layout.

In fact. forget that, it IS a SWAT 4 level they're using, I remember many a firefight in that map.

Love Swat4, love zombie games, love RTS's... what's not to like?

This game sounded TOO ambitious though. It probably would have sounded a lot better than it actually would be, cos that is probably WAAAY too much stuff to include in a FPS built for mainly indoor environments and enclosed spaces.

Still, it will be mourned. Rest in peace Division 9, a life unlived, taken from us too soon...

(as a side note, would be hilariously ironic if it was brought back to life by another studio... the world's first zombie-zombie game!)

So, essentially, L4D with actual zombies instead of 'infected'? Yes please.

It looks a little dated, but with a bit of polish this could have been great.

Someday, someday...
