The Canceled Division 9 Was Left 4 Dead Before Valve Did It

I wouldn't say it looked like an early left 4 dead. It looks like what would happen if road to fiddlers green had multiplayer or zombie panic had ai zombies and a campaign. Still looks like it would've been cool.

It looks really similar to Swat 4. Identical in places.
That was my first though. I didn't even know Irrational Games made SWAT 4, but I sure as hell loved that game. Immediately recognized the in-game menu and some of the visuals and actions though.

Some of the things are one hell of a coincidence though... Like the "pipe bomb" to serve as a decoy with the loud noise, the "helicopter rescue", car alarms, the whole setup really.

That said, yes the slow movement would probably drive me mad, and the zombies don't seem particularly... Challenging... They're slow and go down considerably fast. In the whole video I don't think I saw a survivor be hit once.

On the other hand, based on SWAT 4 as evidence, I'll say this: Irrational knows how to make one scary as hell game... Some missions on SWAT 4 were total mindfucks, and I mean some seriously scary shit... Would have loved to see their approach to the genre.

This looks like it would have been a lot of fun as a full game. There is no "realistic" zombie shooter out there. You can tell this game is a little last gen, but I think that with some touch ups here and there this would be a very good game.

I heard about this on the Irrational Behavior podcast. Sounded pretty cool. As did the dog in a wheelchair.

Not sure if anyone said it yet, but the one part of the level is EXACTLY the same as a level in SWAT 4

Go back and make it. Now.
Exactly what I was going to say. It's not like there's a time limit. Go back and make this even better then what it looks with today's tech now.

Interesting, SWAT 4 with zombies. I would've liked to have played it, but probably wouldn't have been willing to shell out more than $5. As the posters said before me, it looks like a mod.

Getting Bioshock out of it's loss wasn't even a tradeoff, it was a miracle.

I love how the things you do would have affected the city, that seems awesome. Would Sell a million copies of L4D any day for this.

looks Decent...I mean, maybe you could walk a little FASTER there jim, I mean i'm sure those helicopter people were looking down and saying "why the hell is he so slow? he must be a zombie, lets get the hell outta here!" But I mean, the idea of not having food, surrounded by hordes of slow moving, flesh eating monsters? sounds fun.

Looked interesting. But it does seem like an evolution for dead rising, rather then an entirely new concept.

I'm happy with bioshock and L4D.

I feel that Division 9 looks very different compared to Left 4 Dead and probably plays different too. I can't say that I like the slow walking pace the player seems to be locked into, but there were times when I was playing Left 4 Dead and I wanted a separate mode where the infected would be slower zombies and pistols didn't have unlimited ammunition. Most of all I like the idea of how the players are expected to search the city for supplies to help fortify a position and go around completing missions as opposed to simply moving forward as in Left 4 Dead. If this is an example of a "open-world zombie sandbox" game I would definitely give it a try.

It was based on the SWAT 4 engine? Crap, now I'm imaging people voice-spamming, "You're in my way, sir." Damn you, Spoony Experiment!
