was so very tempted to gloat about the superiority of metal over magic but he resisted. There was nothing to gain from arguing now and it can't be long until that mountain of an Orc comes into here.. no doubt he'd like to get involved.

There is still plenty of wine but it is right in the open under the same fire the group crowded around.. it's best i didn't get another glass.

Anoke
Kept his spear at his side and his hands on his knifes just in case anything were to happen. He decided to not get involved as the Nord was clearly outnumbered and would prove little of a challenge to take down. Instead he used his time to look around the room in hope there would be a few plants or creatures to crush into a potion..
This place is completely dead of life... a good indication that no falmer be nearby. They usually habit slightly warmer areas, at least enough for various mushrooms to grow.

Raising his head towards Aaden and Jean..
"Tell me a little about yourselves.. You both seem to be fans of magic and you're defiantly feeling the cold a little more than our Nord friend here, i'll take the guess you're both Bretons? Not too many in Skyim at least outside of the college."
After a pause for thought...
"You're not from the college are you?"

"Was from the college. Not anymore. Too many restrictions. They're not big fans of testing paralysis spells on other students" Jean replied "In my defense, the guy did say "Hit me with your best shot". Albeit, I did take that slightly out of context because that was a lecture for Destruction magic... I don't know if he's been able to walk again"

"I'm actually a travelling healer now but I do occasionally drop in the college from time to time to stock up on ingredients whilst I'm in Winterhold. Originally, I wanted to go study Restoration and Alchemy with the college in Valenwood but with the Aldmeri Dominion and all the other stuff going on there, it's safer to be in Skyrim instead. And that's saying something. I've probably been here for about... eleven years now. Left the college about five or six years ago."

"I learned at the college for 7 years. I left last year. I'd learned all I could, and the only thing left for me there was tedious and pointless research, snow, and a small village that hates you. Plus, the salary they pay isn't great, so I decided to travel to Solitude, had a plan to hire on with the Legion. They pay mages well after seeing what the Thalmor can do."

"Then I met Sten, and he was offering good pay for...relatively honest work, so here I am."

"I've been to the college at Winterhold as well." Zavier said, deciding to make some small conversation. It would be good to know as much about these new mages as he could. What they said so far was, as far as he could tell, probably true, but that didn't mean that they weren't hiding something. On an expedition like this, they were the ones most bound to Sten, and that meant they couldn't be trusted. Still, he managed a small smile and continued to be friendly.

"I didn't get my education there, though. I've only been in Skyrim relatively briefly. The college was one of the most breathtaking things I've seen since I arrived, though it did seem a bit...sparse. Despite the Nords' distaste for magic, I still would have thought that the only place for several hundred miles that could provide a decent arcane education would have been more full."

"Well the college is really one of the few safe places in Skyrim for mages but with the rather unplaced hate for magic here, it's not common that you get much of the populous wants to join a group that would basically say "Hey, I like that thing you don't". Some Nords can be violent at the best of times but finding out that one of your own kin or friends is a mage is pretty hard to accept, mainly because of social pressure too that makes it out that all mages were responsible for the Oblivion crisis."

"Most magic users tend to be Elves or Breton though so they'll either stay in their homelands or just practice in secret. Dangerous really. I wouldn't trust somebody trying to learn magic by themselves. It's why the Aldmeri Dominion will probably flourish in the Arcane arts in the upcoming years. The inherent magical abilities of Mer-kind, except for the Orsimer, combined with the Thalmor's love of spellswords will probably start pushing for more research into magic so that they can win the war. The White-Gold Concordat won't last forever; only as long as it takes either side to regain their strength. And then... well I just hope the Stormcloaks come to their senses by then and realise who their true enemy is."

Jean sat, raising his hands closer to the fire after taking a sip of his wine. He then turned and saw the others sat in silence as he finished.

"I am sorry for bringing in such a sensitive topic to the discussion. It was not my place to do so when I do not know you all yet. Does anybody else have something they wish to discuss?"

Swims'Faster sat silent throughout the entire exchange, not once mentioning his own magical talent. It was fascinating how these humans viewed their magic. All apparently hated this college they had all been to, causing him some confusion.

Why do they go to learn, only to leave when it no longer ssuits them? The humansss are very weak-willed, here in Sssskyrim, very ssstrange to have a placsse of learning ssso abhorrent to them.

Jarek stood away from the fire taking in all of the conversation, he had been quiet this whole time, trying to get an idea for who these mages really were. Swims'Faster didn't seem to have taken to them and they seemed angered with him as well. It all stemmed from the disaster that had occurred outside the ruins, both had valid reasons for anger, Jarek supposed, too bad they lost friends but from our perspective things just got a lot more complicated. Still, watching as they all ganged up on Drahff, posturing by picking on the weakest member made Jarek grin.

The bridge, as unsturdy as it was, held surprisingly well under Faulgor's weight. Though that isn't to say it didn't keep him on edge - just about every board he set his foot on creaked and groaned under the great stress.

I swear, if this bridge gives out and kills me, he thought to himself. I'll haunt Sten for the rest of his life. Before long, he was approaching the far end of the bridge and had felt great relief once he set foot on solid ground. He made his way into the cavern and to the encampment where everyone appeared to be making idle conversation. Choosing to keep warm by the fire, he stood before it with his palms towards the flames and looked around at the others while the talked amongst each other.
