[hr]We Now Return to the Fight Currently in Progress...
Katya Rostikova | Ruby Babbage-Lovelace
Ruby Babbage-Lovelace pointed a rather confused expression at the woman known as Miss ARES-35 but remained silent through out her rant and subsequent beating of the man known locally as "That Oklahoman Asshole." A single punch was all it took to bring down the mammoth was moonlighted as the town bully. Between the dislocated jaw and the concussion that he'd be diagnosed with later in a Hospital Emergency room, it would be some time before he decided to attempt to force a drink on anyone, particularly anyone claiming to be a member of the Rising Dawn.
"We'll be leaving now, thank you. I warned you about that hospital stay." The woman stated in a voice filled with self assured bravado. The bipolar haired girl could only stare in awe at the display. She honestly would not have been surprised if this Miss ARES was one of the Valkyrie, a strange thought considering her reference to Mister Oberon and Fenrir.
Despite the treatment she'd suffered at the hands of the brute, Ruby could not allow him to remain in that state of injury. Gesturing towards the injured Oklahoman, the ribbons that had bound the man began to dissolve before being absorbed into his skin. A moment later there was an audible pop that came from the man's jaw as the bone was set back into place. Satisfied that there would be no lasting effects from the blow to his head, the young girl waited for Miss ARES' friend to recover from her injuries. As she did, her thoughts wandered back to what Miss ARES' reference to both Mister Oberon and Fenrir being...
"(Mythology?)" The thought came absently to Ruby's mind as she looked about the room, seeing the other patrons brutalize each other, "(But Mister Oberon is real and Fenrir... Mommy Titania used to let me visit him all the time, though it wasn't very easy to play with him... considering the circumstances.)
The sound of glass hitting the floor roused the young girl from her thoughts and brought her back to reality. Looking at Miss ARES' companion, Miss Katya, Ruby was amazed to see the shards of glass that had previously been embedded in the young woman's face fall to the floor.
"[color=CC8899]That's it. No more drinking... ever... ever-3ver-3v3r![/color]" Katya stated loudly as she looked at the young child that had moved to defend her after the big ox had blindsided her in the face with the mug of beer. Ruby regarded Miss Katya for a moment... or longer. There was something very familiar about this woman, though the young girl couldn't quite place where they'd met before.
"[color=CC8899]Th@nks, k1d![/color]" The woman said in a slightly bizarre accent. Though her words were distinctly English, Miss Katya had an accent that Ruby could not place. It was as if...
"AUUUUGH!!!" The young girl cried out as an overwhelming wave of pain wracked her body and sent her tumbling to the floor. Ever fiber of her being felt as if it were bring ripped apart. If felt as if all the cells in her body were suddenly dumped into a vat of irradiated acid. She felt herself becoming undone.
"[color=CC8899]Dafuq?[/color]" The Rising Dawn's Hacker Heroine cursed as she rushed to the side of the young girl and started examining her. Despite the fact that she was no doctor, Katya was familiar enough with medicine to see that there were no outward signs of injury that could have been causing Ruby to writhe on the ground. "[color=CC8899]B3WP? Little help?[/color]"
The Nano-Agent colony didn't need to be addressed. It had already begun a medical scan of the ailing child when she hit the floor, the results of which were rather confusing. There were some rather conflicting results as one internal scan reported that the young girl had no organs and another that stated that her organs were suffering from a sudden, inexplicable rupturing. Simply stated, B3WP could not determine the cause of Ruby Babbage-Lovelace's pain.
"
Code:
I am unsure as to what is occurring, Little Miss. Her body appears to be undergoing a great deal of stress. I would recommend taking her to the nearest medical facility.
"[color=CC8899]No sh1t3.[/color]" The Green Haired Hacker stated as she picked up the ailing child and started heading for the restaurant's exit, "[color=CC8899]ARES, lets get her back to the ship. I think she's got a better chance there than any hospital around here, right?[/color]"
Hopping onto the VTOL, Katya attempted to care for Ruby as best as she could as they waited for ARES to take them back to the Air Ship.

Lost in History...
Rory Mercury
[hr]Lost in History...
Rory Mercury
"No." There was a slight pause as Naamah reconstituted herself. "That is not what I had meant. For you to speak of you I wish. Of your history you speak. To me tell. What makes Rory, Rory?"
A moment of silence was followed by an uncomfortable expression settling on the face of Rory Mercury, the former Goddess who quite literally fell from the sky (There was still a hole in the ship's superstructure that marked the arrival of the Demi Goddess). Rory's crimson eyes flicked past the waiting Naamah and regarded the crew for a moment, each one of them conversed with each other, ate with each other, bonded with each other. Sighing rather dramatically, the Emloy's Oracle turned back to the feminine black mass and smiled, though it was not the smile that was filled with mischief, it was a smile that remembered the past. One thousand years was a long time. It was several lifetimes worth of experiences... of friendships and departures.
"I wasn't always a priestess of Emloy. It wasn't until the Summer of my thirteenth year that I devoted myself to my God. In those days, the Empire was still in the process of uniting the land, as they called it. Part of their unification plans involved the destruction of many of the bandit clans that roamed the land. It was one of these bands, having been driven out of their territory, that happened upon the farm of my parents. Hungry and desperate, they attacked and took what they could, including the lives of my parents. My mother had hidden me under the floorboards of the house and told me to stay quiet. I did, even as the bandits killed a short distance away from where I lay in hiding. As they left, the bandits set fire to the lands and my home before retreating to their camp." The Woman Clad in Crimson paused, remembering the heat of the flames as it licked her skin and clothing, "Surrounded by flames, I prayed to any of the gods that would listen to me. It wasn't a prayer to be saved. It wasn't a prayer to die quickly. It was a prayer to be given another opportunity to kill the men that had done this. Emloy heard my prayers and made me his."
When Rory spoke of her God, her voice became filled with reverence, with joy, with glee. The mischief returned to her face and her eyes glimmered. Her devotion to the God of Death was absolute.
"The bandits didn't live to brutalize another family or to see their next sunrise. It was as the bandits died that I felt it for the first time, the sensation of their souls passing through my body on their way to meet Emloy, he who would judge them for the life their lead. I... may have judged them too harshly. They hadn't always been bandits. Some had been farmers like my parents, pushed off of their land by the Empire's unification efforts. They had been resisting the Empire's annexation of their lands and when they were defeated by the Imperial Legion, they retreated. Desperate and starving, they came upon my family's farm. Thinking that the food was being grown for the Empire, they burned the fields and killed my parents." There was no hatred in Rory's voice when she spoke of the men that had killed her parents, "Emloy doesn't consider killing a sin. What they were doing, they believed was for the good of their people. They were fighting a war against the Empire and my parents were caught in the middle. It took a while to come to terms with this as I learned what it was to be Emloy's Oracle. I wandered for a time, tending to the people who would become Imperial Citizens. I brought the living comfort and tended to the dead. I fought those who preyed on the weak for their own personal gain. I continued to live and do Emloy's work even as those I met started to grow old and eventually leave. There have been so many..."
Rory regarded Naamah for a moment, not speaking, silent, quiet. The young looking woman wondered what else she should share with Naamah. Would she tell the feminine black mass of her dealings with the JSDF and with Itami Youji? Would she tell Naamah of the deal that she'd made with Itami when they were tasked with defeating the Fire Dragon? Would she tell her small friend of the loss she felt when her friends passed away before her? Would she tell Naamah of love never realized
The silence broke.
"Do they serve ale here? I could certainly use one." Rory said as she attempted to flag down one of the chattering imps. The time for stories was over for the moment
