The Night Before: Improbable cures...
Katya Rostikova | Ruby Babbage-Lovelace | Angelus | Dolores Selmy | Selena | Doom | Elise | Violet | Luke | Teri | Kazuya

Most nights in the Rising Dawn's Medical Bay were rather quiet. Due to the machine-like nature in which the Airship's Chief Medical Officer healed her patients, it was infrequent that any of the formerly wounded crew members were required to stay over night for continued treatment or even observation. Even prior to the arrival of the Ship's Cleric, the Automated Medical Treatment Suites, or Autodocs, did a rather efficient job at keeping the ship's crew members from succumbing to their wounds (Though their bedside manner left much to be desired).
This night was not one of those nights where the Autodocs were left to gather dust. In fact, it was one of those extremely rare moments where the autodocs were the exclusive medical provider in the Medbay. Due to the wounds that Teri, the Airship's Chief Medical Officer, had suffered at the hands of Kazuya Mishima after the former defacto leader of G-Corp had, without provocation, attempted to execute one of the Airship's prisoners, Doom. The resulting brawl in the brig had resulted in the hospitalization of both Kazuya and Doom, who though sheer luck survived the multiple gun shot wounds.
Katya Rostikova was not with any of those three patients in the Medical Bay. She was with the one patient who required medical treatment for something not resulting from the "Brawl in the Brig," Ruby Babbage-Lovelace. The nine year old girl lay in a medical gurney stationed in the middle of an area designated for Triage patients, or patients that required immediate medical stabilization. Despite the fact that Ruby appeared unconscious, the 18 year old hacker could sense that the younger girl was in a great deal of pain. The sensation radiated in every cell of Katya's body. It carved a hole in her brain. There was a connection between the older and younger girls, but Katya, so unused to emotions that came with living outside of a bubble, could not place the source of the bond that she felt with this young black and white haired child.
While she stood there and held the small hand of the younger child, she had B3WP connect with the Triage Autodocs and gather a list of possible causes for the multitude of symptoms that afflicted young Ruby Babbage-Lovelace. The resulting list generated from the query was... disconcerting at best. It was an A through Z of bacterial infections, diseases, virii and wounds. Everything from Alergies to VX Gas exposure had been listed. It was more of a list of topics from the entire catalogue of the D.C. Journal of Medicine than a short list of possible diagnoses. There was another chime as the equipment used to monitor Ruby's brain activity detected another seizure.
In the midst of it all was the slightly disturbing presence of First Lieutenant Selmy Dolores. It wasn't the girl's shy and apparent low self esteem that bothered Katya, it was the girl's lack of knowledge of what had afflicted her earlier, which was the same thing that was afflicting Ruby now. The First Lieutenant spoke in a manner that lacked any confidence and she avoided the Hacker's eyes when Selmy did look up. Despite the fact that Katya, having suffered through seizures herself, know that Selmy would have very little recollection of her condition, the Rising Dawn's Geek Girl still found herself annoyed.
Tending to the seizing Ruby, Katya had been tuning the First Lieutenant out when a sudden tonal shift in the older woman's voice caused the concerned crew member to suddenly pay very careful attention.
"
"If I had to hazard a guess da ze," she said, "
I would have the master hacker move a full three meters away from Ruby. See if the issue does not resolve itself soon afterward da ze."
The suggested treatment was for Katya to step three meters away from the dying girl? What sort of suggestion was that and what was up with the voice that Selmy used when speaking to Katya? The change in the First Lieutenant's vocal demeanor was so drastic that the young hacker had to turn to make sure that Selmy was still seated at the perimeter of the Triage area. When Dolores next spoke, it was only further confirmation that it was Selmy, not someone else that had spoken.
"
I'm really really sorry! That's... all... I... know...?" The First Lieutenant said, reverting to her former manner of speech before starting to weep.
Trauma. Trauma must have been the cause of the sudden change that First Lieutenant Selmy exhibited. It wouldn't be hard to imagine that the older woman was having a difficult time watching Ruby, Selmy purported acquaintance, go through the same exact thing that Selmy had gone through a scant couple of hours ago. Fully turning towards the weeping woman, Katya started walking to her with the intention of comforting the poor soul.
It was just as the Rising Dawn's Resident Drama Queen reached her destination that it happened. Silence. The alerts stopped their bing bing bings as they detected Ruby's vital signs normalizing. Having listened to the alerts for so long, the silence was hard to miss.
"What... the... fuck?" Katya cursed, looking at the distance between her and Ruby, the distance spelled out in her HUD. 3 Meters, the exact distance that First Lieutenant Selmy had suggested, "This has got to be coincidence"
Taking a step towards Ruby caused the alerts to start blaring once again, causing Katya to jump back with a start.
" I... guess that's over with." Katya said reluctantly as she walked over to where Selmy was still weeping, putting a comforting arm around the girl's shoulders, "But how's that even possible?
The question was rhetorical. Since being on the ship, Katya had already seen enough to make her stop questioning of things were possible or not. Still, it did make her feel a little... shitty... that she would be the cause of the young child's suffering.
"I guess she's your problem now... or ARES... whatever." The hacker stated, her voice slightly disappointed. Despite her bravado at leaving the young Ruby Babbage-Lovelace at the mercies of someone else, Katya felt like she'd missed an opportunity to care for someone that she could relate with.
With the medical emergency over, Katya looked around the medical bay and realized the number of people that were being treated, realizing that both Elise and Angelus were present. Dim memories at having cat called the Spider Queen when she first arrived caused the slightly embarrassed Hacker to slouch in her chair as to not draw attention to herself. The presence of Angelus was another story though. Since she was seated on the other side of Selmy, there was no avoiding her.
"[small]crap.[/small]" The Hacker muttered as she swore off drinking for eternity, the memory of revealing her crush on Caim to the world burned brightly in her mind, causing her cheeks to flush. Turning to Selmy, the hacker muttered something to the effect of, "Wake me up if something happens, kay?"
The request made, Katya closed her eyes, faking an attempt to go to sleep. It was fortunate that real sleep came not soon after.

Avatar Adventures | The Airship: Rising Dawn | The Canteen
Morning: Improbably cannibal...
Katya Rostikova
Morning. Morning couldn't have come soon enough for the Rising Dawn's Geek Girl. While she'd fallen asleep in less comfortable places, the fact that she felt more than a little uncomfortable in the medical bay didn't bode well for her slumbers. The familiar chiming of medical equipment invaded her dreams and caused her to wake in a panic more than a few times in the middle of the night. In the end, she'd opted to browse through the Internet while acting as if she was asleep.
With the sun peaking through one of the view ports, Katya decided that it was time to get up and grab something to eat, which unfortunately meant that she was going to have to go back into the Canteen, the ship's sole dining option.
Standing up quietly, so as not to disturb the rest of the patients ... or Elise or Angelus... the hungry hacker exited the medical bay and headed towards the Canteen. As she traversed the labyrinthine Airship, she wondered why she was feeling so self conscious as of late. The embarrassment that she felt, which would have been forgotten were it not for B3WP intervention, was not something that she was typically accustomed to. She was supposed to be confident in all things and her social standing with in the crew members was not something that she coupe feel confident about.
She stopped in front of the double doors that served as the entrance to the Airship's Canteen, breathing in deeply and slowly as to control her mounting anxiety. Pushing through the doors, she was relieved to see that Caim was not present but there wasn't actually anyone that she immediately recognized, despite having been on the ship for some time.
Wandering over to the seating area, she considered sitting at the table where the Witch, the Winged Kid and a stranger sat but banished the idea entirely. Sitting down alone, she flagged down an Imp and ordered a plate of Steak and Eggs, regular... not spicy... as well as a coffee. The Imp appeared rather disappoint by the order but walked off anyways, chattering at the group that was assembled around Rugal, the ship's captain.
"
That was weird," The Expert Eavesdropper overheard the Winged Kid say in relation to something that Katya hadn't been listening to. It wasn't the conversation that grabbed Katya's attention but rather the fact that Icarus appeared to be eating Chicken and Eggs.
"
(Isn't that cannibalism?)" The Troll wondered to herself.

Avatar Adventures | The Airship: Rising Dawn | Hall of Records
The Night Before: Redemption
Rory Mercury | Naamah
The Hall of Records appeared to be one of the least used areas of the ship and though Naamah had spent her time meticulously caring for the room, the recently descended Demi-Goddess could tell from the musty odor in the room that it had been some time since a human had set foot in the room. The room contained a series of wooden tables, atop which sat a number of computer terminals, like the ones that Rory had seen in Japan on her visit with Itami. A series of massive bookshelves lined the walls and encroached upon the interior of the room. Though it wasn't typical of a library, each of the shelves had a thick glass panel that kept the books from toppling out of the shelf during more intensive maneuvers.
Walking over to one of the shelf, Rory noted that while the books were all treated well, it appeared that special care was taken for the ship's records. There were some 853 volumes, telling the young looking Demi-Goddess that the group had been in operation for some time. Flipping open the first volume, the entries were small at first. They appeared to be from a time prior to the creation of the Airship.
Looking around, Rory spotted Naamah standing next to one of the computer terminals. As she sat down in front of the workstation, she noticed that a large number of videos had been loaded into a playlist. With over a several years worth of materials to watch, darkly dressed loli knew that she would not have time to watch all of the footage but she also knew that she wouldn't have to watch all of it to form an opinion on the group she blindly joined.
Scanning through the first series of videos, Rory noted that Naamah had spent a large amount of time watching the daily lives of a young man with hair that was almost pink in color as well as an animated wooden doll with blue hair. Puce and Kurumu they were named.
As Rory watched the two, she smiled. There was love between the man and his doll. Because her previous position before returning to the realm of mortals was the Special Region's Goddess of Love, she took a particular interest in the pair. This was true also of the two women knights and their fox girl companion. There was a man and a dragon who would later become a woman. There was the Cleric and ... someone who was cloaked in shadows.
If there was one thing that the crew did not lack, it was love. But at the same time, there was treachery. A man, the ship's original captain trapped the man and his doll in a gem, sealing them to an unknown fate. Puce, his mind controlled by rage and madness, attacked an Angel and a dark four legged creature. The Angel, driven to madness by anger and pride, allowed a woman to die, her body burnt to cinders. The ship's current captain, in a move to grab power aboard the ship, assaulted the young Puce, smashing his face into a wall. One of the female knights attempted to kill her future lovers when she arrived on the ship. The list went on and on.
This ship and its crew was almost bipolar in its ability to do good for the world and its ability to destroy it. The ship's captain, Rugal, had started off his life as a criminal that opposed the justice that the Rising Dawn strove to bring into the world. Despite his apparent change regarding what he was doing, the past was always going to hound him. A wizard, cloaked in crimson cloth, destroyed a city after the Rising Dawn was falsely accused of doing the same thing.
Watching another interaction between Puce and Kurumu, Rory's eyes because to droop as exhaustion took hold of her body. Watching as the two lovers shared their first kiss as flesh and blood, Rory muttered a question absently to Naamah.
"
Can this ship be redeemed, Naamah"

Avatar Adventures | The Airship: Rising Dawn |
Morning: YOU!!!!
Rory Mercury | Naamah | Sloth
*CRASH!!!*
The sound of metal being split apart woke the Demi-Goddess, who reflexively grabbed her Halberd in preparations to defend herself. Looking up at the ceiling she saw that there was a hole that had been created by the impact of something that had fallen from a great height, not unlike Rory's arrival on the ship. So entranced by the sight of the open sky, Rory almost didn't notice that whatever had smashed through the hull of the mighty airship had also smashed the wooden table in front of her to bits of wooden debris. Looking down at her black stockings she noticed a flash of white skin and the sight of a large shard of wood sticking out of her leg. Not that it hurt the invulnerable Demi-Goddess, the fact that her holy garb had been ripped slightly annoyed the Oracle of Emloy.
A groan was the next thing to grab the woman's attention... or rather a snore. Whomever it was that had decided to nest in the middle of the ruins of Rory's research was surely powerful if they had managed to fall from the Heavens, crash through the metallic hull of the Airship, smash the desk and still be asleep.
Moving a large section of desk that had folded over onto her uninvited guest, the Former Goddess of Love was struck by a sudden bout of anger when she realized the man's identity... or the Vice's identity.
"
YOU!" Rory Mercury, Head Priestess of Emloy, exclaimed loudly at Sloth, the reason for her being cast back into the mortal realm.
"
Um. Do you know where...?" The lazy bastard asked quietly, his eyes already starting to close again.
"
You're in the mortal realm. Why you did you come here? Are you here because SHE wanted to gloat over my fall?" Rory asked quickly in an effort to get the questions in before Sloth went back to sleep. As she machine gunned these questions, she thought back about the bet she made with Hardy and Sloth's central role in it.
