Probably because of...
Or was it...
But honestly, I don't fucking know... I'm sure the clues are scattered all across certain Forum Games threads at this point...*shrugging intensifies* It's not that simple of an answer, you know! This isn't some romantic comedy and my answer's that dramatic reveal being played off like a plot twist to the audience who all saw it coming, but didn't care anyway as long the couple got back together somehow even if it's not in a romantic fashion! *ahem* Plus...
(Just replace the word "TV" with "Escapist"...)

Actually, I didn't become a member because of ZP, as it was a show that I quit watching some years ago.

I came here for the forums. And now I stay for the Forum Games. And the members of the Forum Games Group.

You know who you guys are. <3

Just familiarity. I came here everyday for a year and half, and now it's pretty routine (Check Facebook, Check Tumblr, Check Escapist, Check AH.com, Check YouTube...).

Because, all my bitching aside, ya'll are pretty cool. Who else am I supposed to talk about Berserk and Eva with? Besides, this is a pretty healthy community, all things considered.

The forums were decent, so I stuck around for them. Now they really do seem to fixate on Gamergate and Feminism. At least it was sectioned off, but the attitudes still seep through to other forums. It gets tiring. That on top of a general lack of interesting topics (to me) around here means I really don't come here that often anymore.

I don't know. Critical Miss maybe? Extra Punctuation is interesting to read too. I kinda like to browse the forums listed in the little blue box at one side of the articles.

Mainly the forums and Zero Punctuation, plus the odd Critical Miss. That, and I've made a few friends here.

There was a term out there for a concept in business, I forget the name, when you pour so much money into a program that you can't just leave it, that you keep pouring money into it even if it's falling apart around you.

Sums up my mindset towards why I'm staying.

Force of habit really.
Plus I like to keep up to date with shit.

I would say friends, and while it's true, I speak to them more often than not on other things. :p

I like the forums here, there's been many times when I've talked about something on here and I've had a lot of support. So many are very friendly here, I like it a lot. Plus I dunno, I'm just always here, whether I'm lurking or posting. I've got my eyes on all of you.....

Came for Yahtzee, staid for Yahtzee (also it's the one place where I get to talk about videogames!).

I was first introduced to this site by a friend from college, and since I started spending more and more time here, I just made this a regular place for me to hang out on the internet. I don't really have any friends here, due to my own doing in that I can barely hold a friendship in real life much less online, but I just like the people here. I can recognize a lot of the forum posters here from their pictures, and their presence makes me comfortable. It's kind of like a starved orphan finds his way to a house filled with other orphans and never really leaves because he wouldn't know what to do if he did.

I like it here, always have. I may not be the most publicly active user here, but I am here daily and enjoy the community. Plus there can be good content on this site from time to time as well.

I too enjoy the (mostly) civil bunch we have here, I never feel I will be bashed for speaking my mind when I do.

Same old story. I came here for Zero Punctuation - and stayed for the forums. The forum rules are unusually effective in weeding out the trolls and spambots (as well as the occasional outright idiot), leaving the Escapist with a rich and varied bunch of friendly, interesting and colorful users. There is always some enjoyable discussion or other going on around here.

I get most of my geek news here, too!

I cannot abandon Escapist, I came here many years ago because I somehow got linked to a ZP review. From there I just came here for that, then I saw that there Jim Sterling fella in the Hour of Love video and decided to give his show a shot. Also Moviebob and a few others fell in. Grey's comics are literally the only webcomics I have ever followed for more than a few weeks so I guess I'm here for those still too. And even though all but Yahtzee are gone I still check the "latest" news page everytime I launch my web browser. While on that page i check the most recent threads module thingy and see if there's anything worth wasting a few minutes typing my opinion into (like this thread).

The last year or so of internet business has drastically reduced my interest in forums however, and even if I do reach the point where I am entirely sick of people I will still keep checking the Escapist. I personally like this forum for the fairly good moderation, it fairly successfully keeps spamming idiots out. I still don't really post often though.

It's definitely not because of the rules, though I was impressed they didn't lock out some undesired discussions in the past.

I have friends here, I like how there is always news or continuous topics about entertainment, and Zero Punctuation.

Came for Zero Punctuation, started watching Big Picture, joined the forums and enjoyed a level of civility I have yet to see anywhere else (still holds true today), started watching Jimquisition, was saddened when Jim left, started getting sick of Moviebob's shenanigans, and was delighted when he was let go. Now my time here is spent 90% on the forums, 5% on the latest Zero Punctuation (I go to youtube for reruns), and 5% other (mostly Critical Miss and the odd news story).

Honestly? I just wanted to fuck with Jim Sterling when he was still here. Now I spend some of my time over at his site, getting into stupid debates with him over silly nonsense.
OT: YAHTZEE, you...ordinary person.

Also, it's not a BAD place to be. In fact, I'm told alot of other places are worse. And the people I never liked get circulated out, so things are pretty okay by me.
My thoughts exactly. It's not a bad place, as far as forums go. But I've been to better. This place used to be practically a Bioware fan forum when I first joined it. But then, well, we all know what happened. Those ME3 threads... ahhh... those were the days.

And yeah, there does seem to be a nice rotation of people leaving. Every time I see someone I like get the boot, it's not long after that that someone I'm not crazy about get's it as well. Lot's of people losing their cool around here in the last 7 months or so. Shame...
