Oh Ultima was an age of PC gaming in where I was way to young to get into. I do remember playing some PC games on old school floppy discs, but i didn't get into real pc gaming until early college.

Then I went through a big pc gaming phase and ironically now I'm back to just playing console mostly. It's funny how shit circles around.
I don't have much experience with Ultima. Iirc they were generally grindy at first and later added a morality system of sorts that was pretty standout at the time.

And I just reread your post and realized you said much the same thing.

Didn't System Shock start the whole "imersive sim" genre thing? Things that Arcane Studio are desperately trying to recapture.
It was one of the primal forfathers of it, yes. I believe Arkane spun off of from Looking glass studios but I could be wrong.

According to wiki Arkane was founded by an ex-EA France bloke from their localisation team (whose work included the French localisation of System Shock) that got the shits up with them in the late 90s because EA had become all about the sports titles.

Irrational Games was the LGS spin off.

Thanks for that. Appreciated.

By the same token people on this forum said shit like, "I don't care about the next generation until there are games for it." Then when the games come for it, still don't care about them because now they can't get ahold of the next gen system? Like if you cared, you should have gotten one at launch then. It's like no matter what games can't please you, so why are you on a video game forum specifically designed to talk about gaming?

It's a hypocritical attitude that just confuses me.

On the other hand, I do understand people have a lot of backlogged games and not enough time. That's fine. Most of us are of the age where affording a console shouldn't be a big deal, hell even "scalper" prices are damn near retail at this point (though they may spike again now that people see games coming out).

Additionally, from what I've seen from the Ps4 screenshots and gameplay of Horizon, the game still looks really good and I doubt you miss THAT much by playing it on a previous gen system. Are you not going to get Elden Ring until you get a Ps5? Or are you going to pick it up on ps4?
PS4 here, as based on the network test it’ll be one of FROM’s best performing games and PS5 would be a free upgrade.

These things are pretty readily available for some reason. Might be that others like me are holding out for the X which is about as rare as PS5s.

Just now at Bestbuy...

I do have to admit to shifting priorities and the likelihood that at a minimum, I'll wait for mid-gen release consoles.

My backlog is huge but finishing HZD is on a front burner as I really will want its sequel and would like to finish before moving on. After Rise of Tomb Raider so I can start Shadow of Tomb Raider.
Literally, just go to your Target every day. That's how I got my Xbox Series X.
