Half Life Opposing Force last summer... I feel so young. Played the other half lives on console, then I had to get the pc exclusives.

Frogger, on the Atari. Though I'm not entirely sure. It was something on the Atari, and frogger seems most likely.

First game I ever played would be Pitfall 1 on the neighbor kids bigscreen. The game that got me hooked for life though, would be Might and Magic 2 on a Tandy 1000 SX. Think Oblivion with the graphics of Etrian Odyssey for those of you more modern folks :)

Actually, i wasnt really interested on PC games or knew they existed, i was a console guy, so i guess it would be someything a little bit recent compared to old titles or games from the commodore, so i guess it would be like half- life or zoo tycon 2 around 2003

I just looked that up on wikipedia, it says it had 6 degrees of freedom. How on earth did you control 6 degrees of freedom? Did you need a flight stick to play it?

Also apparently people got motion sickness from it :D Take it that didnt affect you :)
It wasn't my first game ever . . . but it is an epic memory from my youth also :) 6 degrees of freedom basically meant a flight stick for what would now be known as mouse-look, then a whole bunch of artfully mapped keyboard commands. I still remember my controls to this day. On the num pad, 5 was forwards, 2 backwards, 4 and 6 strafe left right, 3 and . strafe up down, 7 and 9 bank left right, 8 for fire flare, and plus for turbo. Sounds intimidating at first, but it's really only one more axis to worry about than a normal fps. Additionally, one should mention the advantage a flight-stick has over mouse-look, the ability to do a smooth, constant turn, which would eventually be interrupted by having to pick up your mouse.

Once mastered you could pull off some incredible maneuvers, such as circle strafing in two axis at once. The trick to avoid motion sickness was to learn the subtle art of changing the direction of "down" at will. See Ender's Game for further explanation.

Believe it or not, there was also a PS1 version that was actually quite playable.

I've got a whole article on it here

Good old school doom. I used to play it with my uncle. I used the mouse and he used the keyboard. We were a most excellent team!

BGI. And I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to gaming.

We are all heroes: You and Boo and I. Hamsters and rangers everywhere! Rejoice!

My memory's fuzzier than cookie monster, but probably one of the first 2 Heroes of Might and Magic games, or Doom

The first game I can remember playing was Digger on the PC.

I didn't even know how to run the DOS program to start the game. I'd beg my father to turn it on and have at it. I thought the digging vehicle was some sort of underground fish with wheels and a green mouth...

You can bet your ass I downloaded Digger HD when it became available.
