Actually, i wasnt really interested on PC games or knew they existed, i was a console guy, so i guess it would be someything a little bit recent compared to old titles or games from the commodore, so i guess it would be like half- life or zoo tycon 2 around 2003

6 degrees of freedom basically meant a flight stick for what would now be known as mouse-look, then a whole bunch of artfully mapped keyboard commands. I still remember my controls to this day. On the num pad, 5 was forwards, 2 backwards, 4 and 6 strafe left right, 3 and . strafe up down, 7 and 9 bank left right, 8 for fire flare, and plus for turbo. Sounds intimidating at first, but it's really only one more axis to worry about than a normal fps. Additionally, one should mention the advantage a flight-stick has over mouse-look, the ability to do a smooth, constant turn, which would eventually be interrupted by having to pick up your mouse.Once mastered you could pull off some incredible maneuvers, such as circle strafing in two axis at once. The trick to avoid motion sickness was to learn the subtle art of changing the direction of "down" at will. See Ender's Game for further explanation.
Believe it or not, there was also a PS1 version that was actually quite playable.

I didn't even know how to run the DOS program to start the game. I'd beg my father to turn it on and have at it. I thought the digging vehicle was some sort of underground fish with wheels and a green mouth...

It was so long ago I can't remember...but I think it was either One Must Fall 2097 or Warcraft II.
Probably one of the Quakes, if I remember correctly. I think that must be it because I remember getting the Quad power or whatever it's called. My Dad would let me play games with him on his computer. He probably did most of the work, until I could do it on my own. Prince of Persia was also there, at some point.

I remember going to Sears on a Saturday afternoon in 1982 and getting our Atari 2600. I remember missing church for the first time the next day, and I was five. I know we got that insanely awful Pac-Man Atari port, but there was some kind of circus/shooting game that grabbed me. I know I had seen Pong and Space Invaders before that, I don't know if I played them; I remember spending hours trying to get my grandparent's wood panel Pong console to work to no avail. Lunar Lander was my first c64 game, but the game that got the ball rolling was Pirates!
