for people naming gameboy games I should remind them this says COMPUTER GAMES!!!

mine was WarCraft (the first DOS one)
Its all good - any platform is fine :) I just wanted those nostalgia moments the first time folks came into contact with gaming, its nice to hear people's different experiences.

Because I am old as well as being hopelessly British, I call them 'computer games' where I guess most folks would say video games. Basically anything that had video tech in it ad let you play a game :)

First game EVER was Granny's Garden on windows (I think 32 bit) I remember that the witch scared the shit out of me.

The first actual game I played was centipede on the Atari. I was awesome at that.
Lol yeah its amazing the stuff that scares us when little isnt it. There was a game called Corporation on the Amiga I couldnt play, because these robot crab things dropped onto your face. Looking at it now I have no clue why it disturbed me so much...

The 5.25 floppy drives were scary, you'd just ease them in and wait for the "KA-CHUNK" that shook the whole table and your hand would reflexively shoot back.
God those disks were so flimsy too. It was a relief when the slightly more solid 3.5 inch ones came out. Still made a hefty THUNK when you put them in though :) And if you had a corrupted disk, the dreaded "neeeurrrggghhhhhhhhh"...

Are we talking computer games, as in games played on a PC, or are we talking video games played on any system?

If it's the former, then Portal was the first game I really played on a computer (and then it was Half-Life 2 that got me to be serious about PC gaming--I know that I was late to the party, but hey, at least I showed up); if it's the latter, then it's Frogger.

Can't remember if it was The Hobbit text adventure on my BBC Basic, or Chucky Egg on my friend's BBC. Christ, I'm old.

I've been told that I've played something on Commodore 64, but I have no memories of that. The first one I remember playing was Lotus Turbo Challenge (or maybe Chip's Challenge, not sure) for the PC.

Yeah any platform or format is fine :) Its just my antiquated use of the phrase "computer games".

Lotus Turbo Challenge was awesome. God that game sparked so many fights between me and my friend back then. When we werent fighting over who's machine was best (he had an atari ST, I had an amiga, therefore I won lol) we were fighting over who got the best joystick when we played on each others machines, or who cut who up on the road :D

Eventually I bought two identical joysticks, and unfortunately one had a slightly faster autofire. Guess who got that one ;)

The first computer game I ever played(I think) was a game in which you ran around in first person perspective and saved dinosaurs from their impending extinction by finding their 2D images before the timer ran out.

I must've been like 3-4 years old and when I couldn't save them all, I cried. ;(

I remember playing a game where you were an ant collecting fruit(?) in the ground, but you were chased by other ants/bugs. It was in color and I think it was on C64.
Anyone know what the game could be?
