On my first computer? Impossible Mission for the C64.

On my first PC? Doom.

(Don't think I need to embed a video for THAT one.)

Half-life
I first played it in 2003 in a tech-class. People from one side of the room would complain that there is a lame game that involves some scientist running around a few rooms. I saw some guy playing it (at around the point where Gordon reaches the locker room) and asked if I could try it out.
The design of the areas told me that there is way more to the game that just walking around especially if they make it looked that detailed. After equipping the HEV suit and running the test chamber, I was convinced that whatever I was playing was way deeper and utterly intriguing. Every day in that class I would make sure I finished the daily assignment early and eventually took over that computer as part of the assigned seating arrangement. As I slowly progressed through the game, then a newb at PC controls, I somehow managed to gather a crowd. My dad handed down his old windows 98 since he was primarily using his newer custom PC and by the end of the semester I had finally reached Xen both at school and at home (will always remember finding Half-life Platinum Collection at best buy). I beat the game over and over and over as well as the expansions which led me to some good ole' mods like brainbread, svencoop, and natural selection.

Epilogue: Needless to say when I beat it I looked around for related news and was elated to hear a sequel would be coming out within a year. By a little after it's release, I saved almost 1k and as well as working a little just so I could run a custom built PC designed around half-life 2's recommended hardware settings. Also needless to say, I've been following Valve's actions ever since.

OMG I played halflife 1 and my computer crashed losing all my save files and I was so close to the end. I couldn't play halflife after that. =(

Oldest game I played would be Bard's tale.
It came to me as a surprise when I discovered Wolf 3D wasn't older than Bard's tale.

Hmmm... The old Amiga housed the first few good PC games I remember.
Top Hat Willy was a great platformer, Crystal Caves was a pretty good action platformer... And Defender of the Crown... Hehehe... One of the first games to boast "stunning full-colour visuals" or something similar.

But on Windows... Age of Empires I, naturally, and Monkey Island was especially memorable. Then there was The DIG... Amazing game. One of the first games with voice acting, I think.
Oh, and I'll never forget The Neverhood - clay animation at its finest. And it was such an odd game - like something out of a Terry Pratchett novel.

Then Sims came along... I bet most of you have played the original Sims at some point or another.
It was great because everyone played on the same account, in the same Sims save, in the same neighbourhood... That's really how the game was meant to be played.

Fast forward a few years... Age of Empires 2, Dungeon Siege (much better than the sequel), Oblivion. Those are the games that stand out off the top of my head, anyway - there were many more in between.

Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Wow, thinking back to Amiga days makes me feel old.

For me, it was the Star Wars Collection 2. Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, Mysteries of the Sith, Yoda Stories, X-Wing, W-Wing vs TIE Fighter, and TIE FIGHTER.

Aside from Yoda stories, easily the best Star Wars games ever made.
Never played Yoda Stories myself, but X-Wing pretty much dominated my game time in 1993. The subsequent Dark Forces/Jedi Knight/X-Wing/TIE Fighter are perhaps my favourite of all time and probably the best on the Star Wars license.

Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Ah, bliss.
Damn, beaten to what I was gonna say. Rollercoaster Tycoon is so addicting. I haven't played RT3 but I hear that the first one is still better.
In some ways. I mean, RT3 is obviously more advanced, and you can ride rides which is always fun, but sometimes you miss the simpleness of the first game.

Captcha: Action this!

Oh yes, that too. How could I forget - and Myst III Exile has the most amazing graphics ever. To this day. Seriously.
Okay, there's a catch... The game is kind of... Point and click. But it's still extremely awesome.

The first good PC game I played was Dark Messiah: Might and Magic.
I was completely in love with it at the time. I'm sure some will disagree with it being good, but it was good in my eyes.
Good, yes. Old? Not really o.o

Descent II and Jazz Jackrabbit 2. Don't really remember much else but those were the two big ones.

It's the oldest PC game I can remember playing.
I got into PC gaming quite late.
