Quantum entanglement is the unexplained phenomenon in the universe where two particles are inextricably linked together and any action on one particle causes the other particle to react instantly (faster than light speed) no matter what distance the particles are separated.

-A retrovirus makes DNA from RNA. Normally RNA is made from DNA.
-In addition to being more prone to color blindness, men see colors worse than women. This is believed to be a result of evolution. While men hunted women would gather and needed to better differentiate between berries.
-North Sentinel Island is the only island to never have any contact with the outside world, be it due to invasion or otherwise. The island has natives and they are to be left alone by law.
-Discordant sounds instill fear in us. Horror movies use discordant sounds in their music to get that fear response out of us.

-Spain was a crumbling failing empire untill they accedently discovered the Americas, They then took the wealth from the natives and became a super power ( they thought the Aztec city was El deraldo the legendary city of gold)
Unless I was lied to in more than one documentary and lecture, Spain had only recently "liberated" the Iberian peninsula from the Moors (as in a year or so prior to the rediscovery of the Americas) and were at the height of their power in recent memory. Before the discovery, the "Empire" consisted of only a portion of what is now called Spain.

There is an element called Krypton (element 36) which existed before Superman did. It was discovered in 1898. The name comes from the Greek "kryptos", meaning "mysterious" (since it was rather difficult to discover, as it is very rare in nature and forms no ores or other compounds), the same root from which we get the word "cryptic".

If indeed there were such a thing as "kryptonite", it would be some kind of oxide ore by naming convention, but since krypton is nonreactive except under extreme temperature and pressure situations in a lab (where it can be forced to react with halide ions, because everything reacts with halide ions given the proper motivation---they're the slutty girl in the football locker room of the periodic table), it would be impossible to create actual kryptonite, and nobody knows what the compound would look or act like (but I'm fairly sure it wouldn't look a damn thing like the stuff in the Superman comics, which suggests a cubic-structure poor metal with some sort of impurity to provide the color, something an oxide of krypton without question would not be.)

SCIENCE!

-An orcastra allways tunes to an oboe because it has the purest sound
Orchestras tune to Oboes on an A. Why they tune to an Oboe is because the components and its reed are the least affected by atmospheric changes such as altitude and humidity, than any other instrument. Therefore it is the most effective method of tuning apart from electronic means (which would create a "purer" sound because of electric devices such as a tuner which could create a perfect sine wave.)

Pipe Organs can create the most amount of notes in a given second than any traditional instrument because an organist has the ability to play on three different manuals at once.

More fun music trivia!

You can tune a pair of piccolo players by shooting one of them!

Also, it is ideal for the third of a given chord to be slightly flat relative to the root, and the fifth to be slightly sharp. Conveniently, for trombones first position F is sharp, Bb is perfect, and D is flat. This works perfectly for Bb major chords, but maybe not for other things. This means that to play an actual in-tune F on a trombone, you actually have to play it at a slightly flattened first-position.

OT: Chocolate is actually poisonous to humans but it's such a small amount that you'd have to eat for a week straight before it affects you.

2. Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, discovered a way to impale a man from bottom to mouth which would keep the victim alive for days. He also impaled an entire village to scare away the Ottoman Turks. It worked. ALSO when a noble complained about the stench of the dying villagers, Vlad stuck HIM on a pole and said "Let's see if the smell can reach you there". Also also, he is supposedly the inspiration of Dracula.

He's not suposedly anything he IS the inspiration for Dracula, his name is actuall Vlad Dracula.

His name isn't Vlad Dracula, but Vlad II, Prince of Wallachia. Dracula was just a nickname the Turks gave him, meaning "Devil".
"His Romanian surname Drăculea (also spelled "Drakulya"), by which Vlad was referred to in several documents, means "son of the dragon", in reference to his father, Vlad Dracul"

Taken from wikipedia not the most reliable source I know but it was the quickest one to get.
it is possible that Dracula means "monster", or that "Devil" can also be used for "Dragon", that the word is just a general term for something unloathsome and evil. But I do know that I have read it in a book and watched it on Discovery CHannel, and they say Devil.

In fact, everything is poisonous to every living organism, in large/concentrated enough quantities.

They are also the only animal, apart from humans, that have sex for pleasure. I might be mistaken on that though.
That and along with ducks are the only animals that rape.

And fruit can make your semen taste sweeter...The more you know
Tazmanian devils also rape their females, so do koalas.

There was an earwig in my coke...

Did you know Medusa was beautiful and Pegasus came out of her body after her head was chopped off. True story.

Also, the Obelisk in front of St Peters Church in the Vatican was taken from Egypt.

And Mary the mother of Jesus is believed to have been raped by a roman soldier.

Please don't take offense to any of this.

Wow...I already knew that Australia had some of the nastiest natural fauna on Earth, but that's just a whole new dimension!
