So, then a PS3/360 would be the right choice for them then? Or now a PS4/Xbone because they are at the end of their generation?
It'll depend on the person. I don't know; I'm not offering advice.
I'm just trying to show the Switch has a rather narrow main userbase as my friends' that have Switchs are already complaining about the lack of games after Nintendo's initial splurge of games. And, one of them is the kind of person that buys a bunch of games on a whim that he never actually gets to playing. I wanna play a few games on the Switch but it really is just a waste to pay $300+ (as I'll want the pro controller) for hardware for probably like 5 games at the most.
I suffer from the opposite problem: there are too many games in the Switch that I want to play, and too little time.

As someone who has no need of "gaming on the go" the switch offers literally nothing to me. I don't play the switch on a bus, or on the train, in the back seat, because I drive a car. I'm sure the switch is great if you're a kid and your parents are driving you everywhere and constantly hog the TV, but to me its portability is an absolutely useless feature.
ok. that's YOU though. i thought you guys were talking about the console overall and its place in the market as whole?

just because YOU don't give a shit about portability doesn't mean the other 30+ million people out there don't.

and FYI i see way more adults out on the street/on public transport with a Switch than i do kids. if i see kid playing a videogame in public it's just about always a 3DS of some sort.
In swoops the fanboys with the super effective argument "Nu uh!"
Got nothing to debate my point so you'd rather insult me. How clever of you.
I mean, you'd have to actually make a point beyond "me luv nintendo long time" first....

The point is "You are moving the goalposts to artificially bring down Switch by pretending that its main selling points don't exist or are somehow irrelevant." Case in point, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night released in the UK and the Switch version, despite having technical issues, sold more than the XB1 and PS4 versions COMBINED. Turns out most people don't give a flying fuck about technical jargon or textures because the convenience of having something be portable is just too convenient:
