For gameboy it's a tie between Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars, and Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis. Both brilliant games with awesome stories that are not so easily surpassed by anything else on the hand held.

For PSP, Crisis Core. It was one of the first games I got and is a worthy precursor to FF7 and as a stand alone story.

Never leaving the realm of the Gameboy, I'll pick one from every major Gameboy generation

Original: I don't even remember the exact name, but it was a standard bomberman title. Lots of good times with that one.

GBC: Definitely the original Dragon Quest Monsters. Lent itself really well to handheld gaming that one did. I also enjoyed the battles of DQM more than those of Pokemon.

GBA: Now that's a tough one. Normally I'd go with Golden Sun, but it seems to have lost its charm for me. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow was pretty sweet, as was Metroid Fusion. The former gets the nod since the latter was disappointingly short.

DS: A tie between Meteos and Dragon Quest V. Again, both would probably be pretty average games on a console, but they do an amazing job of keeping me entertained when I would be otherwise stuck waiting. And both are incredibly fun in short bursts. Obviously not all elements of DQ5 are, but I've sunk so much time into the casino games it's ridiculous.

I love the Game & Watch series because constantly trying to beat your last high score on a certain mini game is a great time waster.

I've still yet to surpass 1000 points on Fire: Classic/Hard mode.

GBC: Pokemon Crystal was really the only game I had so it wins by default.
GBA: Warioware was addictive and off the wall.
DS: The Mario 64 remake. I never played the original so it was awesome.

I've got to go with either the version of Link to the past that got re-released on GBA, because LttP was my favorite game ever, or Pokémon: Gold Version. I've sunk almost 120 hours into that game, and I'm still playing. It's my favorite in the series because it had the new gyms, and the original eight gyms. That game took forever for me to beat, and I'm still trying to track down the three legendary Pokémon.

No love for Tetris? I logged more hours on the original Game Boy with its black-and-white graphics playing Tetris than anything else. And when the Game Boy Color came out, I handed my old Game Boy over to my grandmother who proceeded to spend 20 hours straight playing Tetris. I think crack is less addictive.

And speaking of the Game Boy Color...anyone else remember when it came out? Remember how the whole color feature basically meant you could see tones of either red or blue (but not both, and not at the same time)? Good times...I picked up Pokemon Red in those days (despite not being a Pokemon fan), and I remember expressing amazement at the red tint on the screen...simpler times.

Happy Birthday Toaster!!!

Yeah, I would say the Zelda/Pokemon games were key in the gameboy although I never owned the older one i started with the color. But that thing was awesomely fun and I spent alot of money on Batteries for it.

speaking of handhelds does anyone remember the Sega Nomad??? the handheld Sega Genesis?

Probably Pokemon Red/Blue Version for original GB, it was so much fun as a kid, and can still be fun now.

One of my all time favorite games is a GBA game. Metroid Fusion. The story kept me on the edge of my seat all the way up to the end that actually got a tear out of me.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. That game just blew me away. The amount of weapons and abilities in that game amazed me. Plus, it got me into the Castlevania series.

I'm torn between Castlevania: Dawn of Souls (DS), Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening (GB), and Boxel (GB)

Hahaa, I still play my original Gameboy. Pokémon Red gets my vote. I remember being amazingly proud, when I captured a glitch, taught it Fly, then it evolved into Kangaskahn. I was known as the kid with the flying Kangaskahn for ages. Then my dog chewed my copy up and I lost it all. :(
On GBA, I'd have to say Pokémon Sapphire. I'm on 400+ hours.
DS, probably Mario Kart DS. We play it at sixth form and I win pretty much every race. It's the only time the nerdy kid ever gets to beat the jock-types. >.>

Much as the Pokemon games are fun, I will have to give it to Golden Sun and it's sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age on the Game Boy Advance. Golden Sun is, at its heart, a JRPG where your objective is to move characters from encounter to encounter while occasionally smacking enemies in the head in the ever-annoying random encounter, but the story is actually really good (even after Felix and Isaac's parties merge near the end of GS:TLA), the summon abilities are inspired and the graphics are the kind that make you forget you're playing a GBA game, even with the graphical upgrade to the Nintendo DS.

GB/GBC: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, epic adventure that you can take with you on the bus to school, or on road trips, also one of the best 2d zelda's (second only to A Link to the Past). Also features one of the best overworld themes (Tal Tal Heights) in the series.

GBA: Final Fantasy VI Advance, but for a Non SNES Remake, Metroid Fusion. Final Fantasy 6 Advance is a great port (aside from the downgrade to sound quality.. man that SPC 700 was so good when you go back and compare it to handheld sound, 8 bit sound, and the sega genesis.. heck I might even prefer the SPC 700 sound to what the PS1 had. Sorry for offtopic there, anyway, good port, with extra content, on one of the best games ever made. The story and gameplay lose none of their potency even though it was over 10 years old when they made the port. Metroid Fusion I like for it's super metroid style, and being a portable super metroid like experience at that.

DS: This is kinda a toughie. So many good games. So many good remakes on top of good original games as well. Chrono Trigger remake is great, as is DQ5, and FF3 and FF4. I know I'm going to get trolled here but I'm going to say my favorite original game on the DS is The Legend of Zelda: the Phantom Hourglass. Yes the temple of the ocean king and forced stealth elements may be annoying to some players but I felt they added some challenge, and I liked the way the stylus was used, a better rolling mechanic could have been put in place and I think the options to use the Dpad to move would be nice, but I liked the bombchu, hookshot, and boomerang use with the stylus.

I'm going to say any of the Early Pokemon games, Red blue or yellow. Most time i've spent with any game. And they're still fun to play.
