I don't understand the rage. I've watched the first season of The Inbetweeners and I've seen the movie and they were funny.

The thing is though, this remake looks pretty good too, Yes it's the same lines with new actors, but it's also a new setting, and alot of you have been saying "this is BRITISH comedy you AMERICANS wouldn't understand" Well then maybe that's why there is a remake with a new American setting.

Also, I haven't watched our original version of the office but I do find the US office quite funny.

But hey, at least we still have Fawlty Towers and Monty Python right?
That's why they won't get it, whether people realise or not British and American comedic sensibilities are completely different, you can't just ship everything over and expect the same reaction.
Moving on to that point, what is the point of this? Why feel the need? Are audiences that stupid or intolerant that they won't watch a show with people with a different accent? Is there honestly a need to pander to them so blatantly? It's not like we're speaking a different language for fuck's sake.

The US Office is the only exception to American remakes of British comedy, because they only took the initial concept, not the script.

And apparently no, we don't have Fawlty Towers either, they tried remaking that as well.

EDIT: Why the fuck even call it The Inbetweeners? It makes no sense. It was called that because they were INBETWEEN a teenager and an adult, ie. being in Sixth Form.

I think it looks absolutely terrible and I cringed hard while watching the trailer.

HOWEVER...

I'm a Canadian and I loved the original British Inbetweeners. I've seen every episode and the movie, and its probably up there as one of my favourite comedy shows. But I can't help but think that the only reason I think Inbetweeners USA looks like shit is because I'm a fan of the original.

Its like The Office. I'm a fan of the American version, but I've never seen the British one. If I had seen the British version first and liked it, would I dislike the American?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I, like so many others, think this looks like garbage... Inbetweeners USA just isn't for us - fans of the original British. Its for people who have never seen/could not get into the original British. I dunno.

Ooook, so i sat through the entire trailer, i can understand making a Comedy about uncool people at school looking into the cool scene and wanting to be part of it, that's what made The Inbeteeners funny, but this is a straight rip, almost word of word, with almost none of the comic timing the cast of the British version had, if you want to make a show like the Inbeteeners brand, then atleast use a original script and screenplay, this looks, sounds, feels a cheap knock off, its like buying Armany, its not real and it looks it.

Look at it like this. At least they're not going to touch Mrs Brown's Boys. Not in a million years. Please don't touch it.

Friggin' American TV executives remaking everything. The only one that worked was The Office USA, since they did their own thing with the premise, and even that still is only good.

Leave good shows alonez!!!!

Ugh...they can't just reuse the same jokes but deliver them worse and expect it to be good! Take a look at what happened with the U.S version of The Office. The first season stuck way too closely to the original, which was brilliant, and it didn't work at all. It only became good to watch when the characters developed differently and it became, in a way, a completely different show.

I love the U.S version of The Office now, but that's because it's evolved to more than just a low-class port of the British original. If The Inbetweeners is supposed to actually succeed, it needs to do the same thing.

Someone sent me this trailer yesterday. I couldn't get passed 1 minute before I turned it off. I just looks terrible. I think that they've missed the point and awkwardness of Inbetweeners completely, and have made some sort of OMG HIGH SCHOOL rip off comedy. This makes me sad. I implore you, Americans, do not watch it.

I seen about five minutes of the pilot for the American version of the IT Crowd and it was not all that good. I have never heard of The Inbetweeners. That is mainly because I am an American and I have almost stopped watching TV altogether. Only show I watch anymore is The Simpsons.

Shows cannot air in America without American actors because of a leverage agreement the union has with the networks. Reason we get to see original Doctor Who on Sci-Fi Channel late at night, or Flight of the Conchords on an obscure cable network. Sucks but true.
Ah, well thanks for informing us of this it's something that's always bugged me.

I hope it's something that gets repealed in the future, American audiences would enjoy the British originals more and personally as a Brit i don't like seeing prized TV shows bastardised as they are on American television.
