It may sound stupid, but since people visit a forum for what they personally like, i think its rather logic.

Firm christian/muslim/hindu/yada yada... believers have their "own" forums i think. And since you're as stated in your post are none of these you find more people who have the same opinions in the forum you are posting.

I think thats really it.

Bah. I'm Jewish, and my beliefs don't really have a whole hell of a lot to do with what goes on here. I don't believe in "recruiting" or stuffing my beliefs down other peoples throats, but I am certainly not anti-god or atheist.
I agree with you but had to point out the redundancy here and fix a few spelling errors.

you do not understand the difference between anti-god and atheist?

anti-god= believing that one exsists and being opposed to him/her/it.
atheist= there is no god.

also, the need o correct others spelling and grammar is actually a sign of neurosis derived from wishing you were smarter than you are. I recommend counseling.

You know, if you went to heaven and were surrounded by super cute virgin super models, if you tried to do it, you would sent to hell for the sin of lust.

Would it be lust if there was mutual consent? I don't know...

OT: I'm going to go with point one, it allows for laughing at all religious people.

Tee hee hee hee hee!

I just think most hardcore religious people don't like to be, well not procecuted but have their believes questioned. Oh and they don't like too live in the modern world.

That was rude!

To the OP

Nicely presented query.

My answer is Three-fold:

1) The John Gabriel ****wad Theory shown here http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/3/19/

2) The internet is where people go to say "My opinion is this:...!" and validate themselves in that opinion based on how many twits follow along or agree.

3) The internet is for pr0n

So the reason you don't see more (sane) religious content on the internet is because anyone who actually HAS faith doesn't need it to be affirmed, hence the definition of Faith: Belief that is not based on proof. I'm not saying that there are no bastions of religious morals or integrity on the internet, I'm saying that they have the good sense to disassociate themselves from the REST of the internet, making them more difficult to find. This applies to all faiths, not just the cool ones.

And most importantly: Not fat, but the color isn't very flattering.

I think it's because people who are more intellectual or scientifically minded are more likely to embrace and make full use of the internet, and those people are also less likely to believe in religion.

Here's my stance. I'm a Christian and not afraid to say it, however if people want to be atheist, that's their business and choice. To be blunt though it just seems to be a sign of laziness in refusal to believe anything, now if they believe in what science tells them, thats fine, that doesnt make them atheists that makes them...sciencees or somthin, but ya, my theory is this: You are judged on what you know and believe, so becomes your afterlife. I don't believe in pushing religion on other people, if people want to know what I believe and why, i tell them without preaching to them, the same if i wanted to know what someone else believes. Long story short, let people bash on religion, cause i dont really care because they've made their own personal choice and its their freedom to say whatever they want. However if they're going to I'd like to make a request: stop using negative things as your argument, like the "if God is so loving and omnipotent, why did hurricane Katrina happen?" I'll tell you exactly why it happened, hurricanes are a part of nature and those people decided to live close to them and not better prepare their city for somethin like that. In short, **it happens. ......I just realized how much i wrote lol

Well, there really aren't that many Christians on the internet, because most of us are either bigots, think the internet is the devil, or are too afraid of everyone flaming us for it and pointing out how much we don't know. I'm no bigot, but I do know how to defend what I believe, and that's all I ask from people: know why you believe what you do.

I come around here because most Christians are boring people, whereas I enjoy the company here. No one tries to convert me, and we all have a good laugh. What's not to like about this place?

And no, that suit doesn't make you look fat, your thighs make you look fat.

Just something I've noticed across several internet forums, chat hosting sites and even in the general academic world. Everybody is an atheist, anti-religious or at the very least anti-institution. There seems to be very little faith on the net, I don't say that to defend religious institution since I have a copy of the Satanic bible, Satan speaks and the God delusion on my shelf (of course I'm not attacking it either). But i find that where you can post your view and opinion, the chances are that people there are much more blasphemous. It's an odd phenomena and I'm sure there are reasons for it, here are my opinions and I say this out of assumption -

1) Being anti-religious and abrasive is way f***ing funnier than being spiritual.
2) This is a generalization, but those who would view themselves as devout would generally not go to a place such as a forum as they tend to have more... "colorful" characters.
3) The Christians are all in hiding and they are just too fearful of being flamed for their beliefs.
4) I'm just looking in the wrong place
5) We all actually died a long time ago and God sent us to hell and now we are cursed with an insatiable desire to post our opinions on the internet. Whereas the faithful are all up in heaven, on clouds listening to Switchfoot and surrounded by virgin super model choir girls.

What do my fellow escapees believe? Does the internet breed atheism? Is access to a broader range knowledge a factor to a re-evaluation of faith? Does anonymity create anarchic thought? Does this suit make me look fat?

Also please don't start a flame war. Can we not be civilized enough to converse like gentlemen/gentleladies?
The Internet went to Hell a long time ago. And if that terrifying satan's-spawn talking dog video isn't proof of that, I don't know what the heck is...

"The internet is going to hell."

Are you implying the internet wasn't in hell already from the start?

As a christian, I don't let it bother me. I think that online, what other people's faiths are their own business. If you don't like a forum, don't go to it.

I'm not really anti-religious (though some of my previous posts may prove otherwise.), I just don't think it holds any benefits for me at the moment. later in life, say on my deathbed, i'll probably become super-religious (though aren't most dying people?).

The Age of Enlightenment marked the first serious decrease in religious belief, as new rational and scientific theories started to arise and science actually became independent.
I'm not saying that the internet is our Age of Enlightenment, but it does provide information to a very, very broad range of people. Thus, knowledge (not just porn) is distributed farther and farther than ever before. And knowledge leads to the decline of religion.
As for your first point, I've been an atheist all my life, I didn't choose to be one because it's "funnier".
Couldn't put it better than this guy. In such a technological age, using such an uncontrollable age, reason is going to spread.
