Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 7%. I can't wait for Moviebob's review. I want him to destroy it.
Me too.
Apparently he made Iroh evil.
IROH!
And it also takes place in an a Post Apocalyptic future...

I know...Iroh is my favorite character too. Toph is also.
And man. I've been quoted a lot and the score I posted went down a lot. Damn.
he didn't make Iroh evil he just made him bland and unfunny, Iroh in the cartoons is this funny wise cracking grandfather that every one can love, and he loves peace...in this he doesn't seem to give a damn either way, makes no jokes...As for that he's thin, hes not portly like in the cartoon.
I barely heard Iroh speak in the movies and the scenes I saw looked like we went evil. But making him bland and not funny? What the Hell!? Oh yeah...he's skinny in book 1...not book 3 I mean. That would make sense.
no hes actually not skinny at all in the animated series, he just covers it up more cause hes constantly in his Fire nation uniform in the first book.

I see what you mean.
1st one got a 50%
2nd one got a 27%
and the recent one got a 57%
Uggh
Yes... Doesn't it seem odd that Airbender would get a 7%?
I mean if the movie's bad, it's bad, but 7% bad? I smell something fishy afoot here.

This is why I will see the movie tomorrow and make my own judgement on the matter.

Also, don't trust rotten tomatoes fully. People can just go there and give a movie a bad review if they want. I'm not saying this is the case here, but 7% seems low, even the Twilight movies didn't score that low.. Doesn't that set off bells and whistles to anyone else?
BTW, Twilight got a 50%... So let's think about it.
I honestly don't think the movie can be that bad either, could be be decent? Probably not, but not putridly horrendous like some critics made it out to be.

If you ask me, critics are still trying to get back at Night for making Lady in the Water....=/

He does admit hes a bit fat in Book 2(when teaching Zuko about repelling Lightning) And he loses it in Book 3 when in prison.

I saw some other reviews and reading the comments. Most of them were saying it's barely close to the source material, The dialogue is very bad and the 3D was poor. It was a last minute idea. And when you think about it...this was a risky thing to do. Making 20 episodes into a 2 hr movie.

Another thing to add about the Bad martial arts.
Noah Ringer the actor playing Ong.
Is a new person to the scene...he was found it an open casting call for this movie...before that...he was a martial artist...He has a First degree black belt in TaeKwondo...yet throughout the movie his martial arts are jerky. and he seems hesitant and slow to do anything.

this is likely cause of lack of practice in the movie scenes, with the other characters, and bad choreography

he admits it, but he was allways portly, and in book 3 he actually doesn't lose his portly he just buffs up.

I didn't want to watch it in 3D anyway, so it's not a big deal for me. Too many movies add 3D at the last minute to try to make extra money from it, so if the 3D is bad, it's not a deal breaker for me.

Bad Dialogue you say? Isn't Twilight full of that? Yet still, it got a 50%, a 27% and a 52%... Really now.

I'm still going to see it, if it is really that bad, I will write a review of it on the Escapist..

However, as for sticking to the source material, some artistic liberties would have to be taken. How close does it stick to the source material? We will have to see for ourselves.

Did you see the last Harry Potter movie? It was so far off from the story, yet millions of people loved it. They focused waaaaaaaay too much on the love story and not enough on the actual story.

sry :( dont wanna break the bad news to ya...
but we can all look to one person to blame...M.Night bhambadambadinglaoonga.

the fact he directed, wrote and whatever else with it, and the people he hired and such...we can safely say the movie is bad because of him.

Yep. Strange isn't it? But then again...I've seen some great movies with terrible dialogue. Whatever...I'm still gonna see it after moviebobs review.

That we do

I was so disappointed when the Eragon movie was bad. The book was great, and it seemed like it would be good for a film adaptation.

I'm a big enough Avatar fan that I'll see it anyways, but I'm really disappointing by this. From interviews I've seen, Shyamalan seemed to have respect for the source material, the trailers looked good, and the creators of the show supposedly had a lot of input into the movie, so I was looking forward to it. Now that reviews have been coming in, not so much.

Thank you for agreeing! I thought I was the only one who was a bit dissapointed with it when I walked out the theature. They skipped out on a big battle in that movie! Grr.

Loved the show, but I didn't plan on seeing it anyway. From the first preview the words 'cash in' rang in my ears.

I left the theater's about a quarter of the way though. I saw it again on DVD and asked my sister "why did you buy this?" And yeah...how dare they not include it!? And how they ended...ARGH!!!
