Notch made changing the map height easier which allows "infinite" height and therefore "infinite" ladder.TopazFusion said:Not really. You can only go down as far as the bedrock, and only up as far as the clouds.Pengowen said:very true, considering one can build an infinite ladder
Even if you built such a ladder, it would not be as tall as the MGS one above. (I think, maybe someone could check this?)
I second this comment. I post this only to add to it's weight.Zhukov said:Sadly the existence of ladders in Minecraft renders all other candidates redundant.
Somebody needs to do some match to find out just how long that fall really is.Trig0n said:This is true. To put it to scale a fall from the top of the Grand Canyon to the bottom takes about 15 seconds. Meaning that's a pretty long fall.Crazm said:I reckon 'The Fall' from Portal 2 is one of the longest free-fall descents in a game I've ever seen. It's so long it gives GlaDOS enough time to rant at you for like a minute and a half!

And I really wonder if anyone is actually gonna make an outrageously long ladder in Minecraft.
If you go from end to end of the world in the mincraft world and place a ladder straight down on the ground then you can have the longest ladder.Caliostro said:Actually, I don't think you can create a ladder quite as long as the MGS one on minecraft. Even by mining all the way to the bottom of the map, and building a ladder all the way to the top, it won't take you a whole 2 minutes, non-stop, to climb it.Zhukov said:Sadly the existence of ladders in Minecraft renders all other candidates redundant.
So yeah, I think that one wins.
Haha! wow, if they actually had you climbing that..this would most likely be a contender! sadly its representational! But awesome none the less! great post C:Aeonknight said:This may not count, but I'm gonna nominate Mega Man 10.
First 30 seconds of the video.
Can't guarentee he takes a ladder to the top, but if he does... it beats even MGS3 in terms of scale. A ladder to a space station... beat that.
Ill check it out!Anthony Wells said:i would say the 7000 steps in skyrim but i dont think that counts...so what aboutthe ladders from charlies angels ps2 game? i wouldnt know whats longer or whatever though
Not sure this fits on the list, as its a cut-scene. But that is some of the strangest/ entertaining game dialog in recent memory! I need to create a honorable mention list!Crazm said:I reckon 'The Fall' from Portal 2 is one of the longest free-fall descents in a game I've ever seen. Also do stairs count? We have the infinite stairs in Mario 64 if you don't have enough stars.
curious why such a long climb was added there! good way to get you to the boss I guess! thanks for the post C:Kursura said:Pengowen said:got a vid? :3 needs proof for the massesKursura said:There?s a long ladder in Outland on PSN when you fight the final boss, not sure how it compares.
Right at the start of that video, it's certainly long compared to the rest of the game.
