Since the usual suspects have been identified, I'll do something shocking and say GTA IV. It was boring beyond human comprehension.

Red Faction Armageddon. They took one of my favorite sandbox, freedom-filled and revolution rich games and replaced it with a plain, linear, alien shooting-fest with awful use of GeoMod comapred to Guerrilla.

Damn you Volition, Saints Row the Third better make up for it!
I may be wrong, but I don't think Volition developed Armageddon
All Red Faction games were developed by Volition and published by THQ. Same goes for all the Saints Row games.

MW2; the maps were really unbalanced, still has tons of bugs, the multiplayer content was unbalanced, the campaign storyline was ridiculous and not in a good way, it was unbalanced, the campaign was too short and frustrating at points, the multiplayer was really uneven, Spec Ops was underdeveloped, the guns were unbalanced in MW2 and in general, multiplayer issues from as far back as the first games still weren't addressed and even more glaring because of design changes.

Ultimately I think the campaign and Spec Ops issues are acceptable, but MP was really badly handled. Its a shame because MW2 was so promising, it ultimately just didn't measure up; in fact none of the Call of Duty's since 4 have measured up really.

KOTOR 2; don't get me wrong, its really fun, but it could have been so much better. Had LucasArts only given the developers as long as originally promised, then the whole shenanigans with incomplete and premature conclusions to quests and heavy number of glitches wouldn't have been so disappointing. Plus, there were a few design decisions I took real issue with such as the pot-luck loot drop (which screwed me over a good few times; 7 double-bladed lightsabers and one short and I needed a normal!!!).

To be honest, I found Mercenaries 2 to be a bit of a HUGE disappointment. I think that if they are ever going to make a game of such a calibre, they need to seriously re-think what made the first one truly epic.

Final Fantasy 9 ruined a lot of the things I truly enjoyed about the series itself and I was never going to touch it again till I was convinced to play ten. Then X-2 came around and hated it again, but once 12 arrived, I fell in love with it again. I cant say Ive touched many more in the series since.

Although Chrono Cross was a decent game on its own, its predecessor, Chrono Trigger, made it IMPOSSIBLE to compete. Can never ever compare. Ever.

Metal Gear 2 - Snakes Revenge. I know that this wasnt the REAL sequel, but the fact THAT piece of turn soiled the series slightly, makes it a crime against nature itself.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon. This should have gotten Ed Boon Crucified.

Blood Omen 2. While this added a key part of the story, alone it needed to seriously be stomped on when it came to game play mechanics alone.

Silent hill 4 - the room. Deviated from Story, changed gameplay mechanics, it needs to GO AWAY.

Thats all for now. more later Im sure.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 was still pretty good, but did not live up to the original.

Any Heroes of Might and Magic after 3. Such a shame, was a great game.

Also I must add, Age of Empires 3.

Yes, quite possibly the worst game I have ever played. DA2 was just bad storytelling. Very bad storytelling. The mechanics were eh, but the game was just so damn sad. Also, why the hate for RE4? Great game.

Supcom 2

So glad I played the demo and cancelled my pre-order.
The game literally removed *everything* that made Supreme Commander (and its spiritual precursor Total Annihilation) original and truly epic strategy games. Dumbed down for the 12yrold-fps-console userbase and thoroughly crap because of it.

Resident Evil 4 was bad enough to deserve mention, that's not fair to the equally craptastic 5.

*waits for obligatory DA2 comments, despite not being on the list and despite it being a fantastic game in and of itself*
It's funny because the 4th was basically the only good one in the series.
And there you have your obligatory comment complaint thingy.

DA2 was terrible, both compared to DAO and on its own merits

but im going to have to say MW2, i just hate, no HATE! the way the guns feel in that game
Nope sorry, DA2 was a great game both as a sequel and on it's own merits. Accept it, love it, move on. Period.
It was an average game on its own merit.

OT: Out of those, GTA IV really was appalling. Haven't played the rest in the series, but the game is just poor.

"The city's big," is about the best compliment I can give it.

Gears of War 2, really? Huh, I never really played much of its multiplayer, but that campaign, co-op and horde mode were just awesome.

But yea, my most disappointing sequel that hasn't been mentioned? Crackdown 2. Just....for fuck's sake, they must've put effort into making it a bad game. Crushing dissapointment....
