Disgaea. But that's a really good kind of grind to get through, since the plot is hilarious. Seriously...25 hours in and I'm still on chapter 7...WTF!!!

Well yeah, the first few missions are dull. They're the game's introduction missions. You need to wait a while till you get some guns to let the game really kick off in earnest.

I understand, but when I play any sandbox game I don't want it to feel like work. But like fun. Fun as in not getting shot while your cousin rings you up to save his ass. For EVERY 2 minutes. "I'M SORRY COUSIN I'M KILLING SOME PROSTITUTES AND BEING CHASED BY THA POLICE!"
List that as monotous as well.

- 1 in 3 light bulbs flicker suspiciously, Check
- Monsters in the ventilation system, Check

Kingdom Hearts 1+2 are literally my favourite games of all time

FFXII and Kingdom Hearts spring to mind. Also, any MMORPG, basically. They give "daily grind" a whole new meaning.

Hmm. Didn't know that. Thanks for the advice. Might give it another go. Never read a manual except for leisure suit larry anyway. Oh no wait, you needed some kind of 70's factbook for that one.

As for the other reply, I have got Saints row 2, that's probably why I resent GTA 4 this much.

I liked Fate, but it can't be called dynamic. Go dungeon - kill stuff loot stuff, descend a level, find whatever the hell it is you're looking for, kill it, go town, get reward, rinse repeat.

This one is easy Far Cry 2 hands down... Take mission, run through checkpoints and mow down idiotic AI, Fix busted jeep, take out suicidal jeep/car, fix busted jeep, Mow down idiotic AI at objective, fix busted jeep, take out suicidal jeep/car, fix busted jeep, plow through checkpoint, mow down idiotic AI, fix busted jeep, take new pointless mission. Rinse, repeat X1000 till ridiculous weak excuse for a "multiple ending".

This. For exactly those reasons.
