Oh, I keep forgetting 2 games - Severance (no downsides!) and Sacrifice (funny as hell and awesome fun). If you've never played these games then get them asap, you need them in your life!

Jak & Daxter (the series) deserves a mention. It is unique, and the gameplay is gold. Except Jak X, but that was more of a spin off. My favorite was 3, for it's amazing story, fun racing, fun platforming and great combat.

One of my favourite games of all time, Homeworld 2 was better but tortuously hard, especially the final level. It still makes me jitter with frustration even now!
What's funny about Homeworld 2 is that the amount of ships thrown at you is dependant on how well you were doing. So when I got to Thaddis Sabbah the enemy fleet had seven Battlecruisers, when I can have a maximum of two...holy fuck. Somehow I beat them.

Homeworld Cataclysm was excellent too.

No idea if this was already mentioned, but Spellforce 2, despite its story flaws, is very under appreciated. I spent countless hours with that game.

Custom Robo Arena, kind of like pokemon with robots and the fighting is manual not strategy/turn-based

4. Super Dodge Ball (NES) I mean really, why was there never a sequel to this gem? Or even another game like it on any system since? C'mon!
There's one for GBA (Super Dodge Ball Advance) and one for DS (Super Dodge Ball Brawlers (that other game with Brawl in it's name)).

Has anyone mentioned Opoona yet?

OPOONA!

And the entire Klonoa series.

Ogre Saga, the whole series. No one...and I mean, no other gamer seems to remember it, and it was the reason we have greatness like FF Tactics. The first title in the series is quite possibly the rarest U.S. SNES title released, and it's sequels on the Saturn and Playstation are nearly as hard to find. The two that got bigger releases, Ogre Battle 64, was looked over, because no one wanted to jump into a story halfway through, and the GBA title, Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis wasn't bought because it was a bad re-use of the system that became FF Tactics with very little borrowed from it. Amazing games forgotten, except for their ties to FF when someone has read about.

Lego Racers. This was my life as a kid. Very-well balanced racing game, based on the best construction sets ever. If you have $5 to drop on a dated-y, cartoony racing game and you want something good, buy buy buy. Unfortunately, the sequel sucked a colossal, tremendous amount of ass.
