The color palette is too bright.

Some new features clash with the old ones.
For instance, why are there two profile tabs when surfing the forums, and what is the point of the new one, considering that you can't actually click on it to check your profile?

By far the worst, and most mindboggling change, is the removal of the content sidebar.
That used to be such a great way to see when new content was released, be it the latest installment of a show or comic, or getting introduced to an entirely new series.
Now you have to use the Videos tab, where the series aren't arranged in chronological order, so you have to click on Latest, and filter through the dozens of irrelevant trailers and shit that you don't care about. If you click on Popular, things are a little better, but it's still a terrible alternative to the content sidebar.

Change for change's sake, I think, but at least it's not *bad* change. Other websites have done similar and simply broken features- The Escapist, for now, is at least still functioning.

Though I absolutely HATE the new aesthetic. Why all the white boxes? I require some sort of decoration!

Its always hard to roll out a new website design, especially one so often read. I had a laugh at some of the knee-jerk negative responses-- hey, some people hate change! In fact, most people hate it. Just look at Obama's poll numbers.

But I will not participate in this drudgery! I will say something NICE about the new design!

There is NO shock pornography on the front page! Way to keep it classy!

First time I saw it I though the page had loaded wrong.

I'll get used to it, I guess, though it might be a little too bright and minimalist, and I like minimalist.

However it's really slow. Like really really slow.

Why can't you people just leave layouts alone. I liked the old one, now I get to be bombarded with white. Not only that, the news article layout before was perfect because I could scroll through tons of headlines at once, now it feels like I have to click 4000 times.

I'm fine with everything but the text, it looks like it's been anti-aliased, it's blurry and parts of letters are lighter and darker.

High-contrast black and white is a winning combination, fix that and you have yourself a supporter.

Hate the main page layout. It's a mess. Disorganized. Having a title bar on each table does not make it organized, it gives the web masters an excuse to cram as many topics onto the home page as possible. Waaaaaaaaaay too many choices.

The front page is very malleable, I'm sure we'll figure something out that isn't overwhelming. It may take a few days for the editors to get used to it.

Hey Escapist, when are you going to fix this broken reply box? I can't drag and highlight fucking anything in Opera for more than .235 seconds before it automatically refreshes and my highlight is cancelled and I am forced to drag what little i was trying to highlight to begin with. Shit, I'm appalled IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT HASN'T CHANGED! PRIORITIES?

This is the first I've heard of this. Mouse gesture your way down to the bottom of the page and click the report bug link. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/contact/subject/tech] We rarely take a long time to fix simple page mechanic bugs if we know about them. We also don't test in Opera. We do however test in Firefox, IE, and Chrome. The general thought was if people were buying their browser, they'd make a quirks mode that works with the rest of the Internet. *shrugs*

On reCaptcha: I'm sorry is this site's forum getting carpet bombed with fake accounts plastering links to Russian goat pornography? Thanks for making it take longer to participate in this community and giving Google another slave pen for its crowd sourcing because its overmind is too busy to realize (talk,") and (malloof) are grammar errors and proper nouns that don't mean anything to 5,999,999,999 people on this Earth while its useful idiots scan every book on this planet and ignore every cease and desist order from impoverished writers (which I assume most of you are; and would quickly identify with your comrades' plight? No?)

Myself and the moderating staff appreciate your sympathies. Spammers waste hours/days of the (very busy) IT staff, and the also busy volunteer moderator's time. The captcha system prevents a noticeable amount of automated spamming for minimal user aggravation. I don't understand why people have issues with the language or whatever. It's not a book, type the characters you can make out or hit the refresh button right next to the captcha until you can. It only happens once a day for 80% of our forum users (we tuned the algorithm for that even), and then once every X posts due to spammers using real people to log in and then passing it off to a script. Pubclub doesn't have to do it because if someone wants to spam there, I'm happy to take their money while I mass delete and ban the account.

I'm sorry for ranting. I love Escapist. I hate seeing it imitate its inferiors. Don't be that guy, Escapist. Don't be that guy.

It's ok, a lot for us here used to be GMs for not overly popular MMOs. I've heard some rants. Give us some time to get the basic site running smoothly (we've added a lot of fun things on the backend that the old site couldn't support) and then we'll start doing some things you definitely haven't seen before.

It's taking until the 15th of Never for the damn pages to load... Aside from that, I have no real problem with the site's new look. Just please speed this crap up and I'll deal with learning the site again.

Edit: I just realized the features sidebar is gone. That's a disappointment. That's how I noticed when something interesting sprang out of the random news articles.
