People are freaking out for nothing. Only problem I have is the colour scheme. So much blue and white. I live in FInland, I'm cold enough as it is. I liked the blue-yeallow of the old site. Throw some red in here. Orange, maybe?
Also, it's really slow for me, but that's a thing that will be fixed right away, I would imagine.

That page had everything I ever looked at on the escapist, all the videos and whatever else I would occasionally look at, it also had the latest of everything from comics to series down the right side.

Where's the blue? Blue is the staple of Escapistmagazine.com, and now you've gone and fucked it all up.
Other than that who am I to complain since I don't care for this site anymore. Although I if I were to truly complain about something it's all the open areas which could be used for something. Also the blue is missing.

I honestly think it will grow on me, EXCEPT ALL THE WHITE! Its way too bright. The drop down menus are very nice. BUT THE WHITE! The new main page forum navigator is also nice. BUT DID I MENTION THE ABUNDANCE OF WHITE!
So yeah, tone down the white, and it will be a lot more enjoyable.

It looks like facebook now. Like... the current facebook. The bad one. With boxes and feeds everywhere, and everything way too spread out and inefficient.

More air in your design? Ehhhh I don't know, partially I guess. Yes, it's a lot lighter in tone, but everything is still pretty cramped up together (thought it is structured, yay for grids), especially the column on the right. To be fair, it's a bit too light in my opinion as for a site that focuses heavily on being a community, I'd recommend a more homely feel. It feels cold now. Yeah, air in your design is good, but not like this. It's not really easy on the eyes when reading bigger pieces of text either, all that white.
The News page also looks a bit...I don't know precisely, but there's a rather disorderly list of subjects below the navigation bar, and below that is another much more orderly list of news subjects. I personally reckon it looks abhorrent and the 'dynamic search bar' is kinda stupid, since the whole reason I like the escapist is because I always come onto it not knowing what I want to look at, so I stumble onto some great forums and news pieces, not thinking "Okay, today I'll read CritiCal Miss, then I'll watch some LRR, then I'll read some Extra Punctuation, etc."

It's running slowly at the moment, but I am willing to chalk that up to new site bugs* and the like. However, I would advise bring back the lovely blue background, which soothed my eyes, as opposed to the assault being launched by the bright whiteness of the current one.

The first time I saw the new design, I thought my browser had done that thing it does every now and then (usually when I get a connection huccup) where it fails to load about three quarters of any given website so I don't get to see anything but the bare bones of the site's content on top of a blank screen.
That being said, the colour of a website I frequent (especially one I visit daily) is really of very little consequence to me. What matters to me is that I feel like I am being shown an adequate representation of the content, most especially that I get to be a hundred percent certain that I have seen absolutely everything that has been uploaded since I last visited. In this regard, the new design fails miserably.
I suppose the "latest" tab of the "news" box is supposed to do this and maybe it actually does, but a box that takes up less an eighth of my screen and has only five slots definitely doesn't count. If this functionality is not improved significantly, I will certainly cease to consider The Escapist a viable source for news and entertainment.
EDIT: Actually, that box isn't even a too-small version of what I am looking for. It is missing key content (The Big Picture uploads, for example). What I'm looking for is a single list of all Escapist uploads so that I can make sure I don't miss anything. Heck, it doesn't even have to be on the main page at all, as long as I can get to it relatively easily I can bookmark it from there.

Also making a picture SMALLER also decreases quality. My avatar on the main page, or in the forum, and in fact every picture in your drop down menu looks pretty poor. Please fix this too. Other than that no complaints.

At first I thought that my web-browser had died on me, but then I realized that it actually WAS the Escapist I was browsing. I can't really say that it's good or bad yet, will check back when I've done enough "research"(browsing) to actually formulate a strong opinion.
As a minor note, I like the new menu at the top, very nifty for reaching the featured content. I do wish there is a way to find "the latest updates" easily though. Maybe such a function exists and I haven't found it.

The Escapist was my favourite website regarding the aspect and I'm not just saying this. Now it's just ok. I know maybe I say this because of this sudden change, but I really don't see how this is better.
Maybe the functionality is improved. But I have a big problem with the text on the home page. It's either some font issue , I don't know, but I can't even comprehend the writing. It's like trying to read something after turning the Gamma to 90%.
Later edit : and seriously, after 5 minutes on the site my eyes hurt. My screen's brightness has nothing to do with it. I hope this issue will be fixed

First impressions aren't particularly good for me if I'm honest, the old home page had some character to it and, dare I say it, felt a bit welcoming. The new layout feels very blocky (there's a better word for this and I'll find it, until then it must remain 'blocky')and maybe even a little cluttered.
I'm sure I'll learn to live with it, but is that really a good thing? I'd rather like something that tolerate it.
Course, I could be the minority, in which case fair enough, go with the public opinion if it's the only way to survive, I'd rather have some Escapist than none.

Man a lot more rage than I expected, the forum is exploding with hate and its bot even that bad. I like this layout as well and I'm already used to this layout so if people want to rage about it that's fine but i will still be here shaking my head at them.
