Been a few years since I last played it. I think this might be my best run. Two hours and forty minutes. There was only one 3D special stage that I didn't get a perfect score in (which gives you a life and a continue). Anyone who knows the game knows which one I'm talking about. Barely bothered with any of the checkpoint special stages. Mostly just sped through the game. Also, because I still don't know where most of the giant rings are, I was one power emerald away from failing the run (not becoming Hyper Sonic). If I have to go back after finishing the game, then it's a failed run. That's also why I took so long. Had to waste time searching for giant rings after failing two or three special stages in the second half of the game.

Finally completed this damn game. And who stores chairs like that, seriously? What an inconsiderate mess.

Not sure if I was meant to kill the blue dragon, it didn't feel like it due to the only available method being a time-consuming cheesing tactic, but a soul was obtained nonetheless.

Guy told me that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of the most expensive games ever made. I'm like, years into it, I'm stuck in a cave at 13% done on Rise of the Tomb Raider that I want to finish first. Looking forward to checking out Shadow. I realized in Rise, I was stuck in a tomb puzzle, gave up and went back to the story mission and got to 15%!! Very cinematic.

Ah, enjoying them EGS freebies, are we? I've been giving those a whirl too. Also currently on Rise. I know the Nu-Tomb Raiders are contentious with series veterans, but I kind of like them. They're enjoyable in that popcorn movie / rollercoaster ride sort of way.

Got the EGS for my library... but after I'd already gotten them for Steam some time ago. All the more reason to feel that pile of shame sensation! Loved the TR reboot. I got most of the old Lara games in a Humble Bundle and they're awful by today's standards. She moves like a tank. The major challenge in games is to jump from point A to B. She is supposed to be good at this and that part should not be hard. Now she moves like Assassin's Creed or Uncharted. And the production values are terrific.

TR: Anniversary is the gold standard of classic TR games. They reached a high watermark with it before shifting gears into an entirely new direction. Well, not exactly new considering they copied a bunch of stuff from other action/adventure games, but new for the series.

Got it in that Humble Bundle I think. It is not installed. I guess I'll give it a shot.

EDIT: In your opinion, is it better than Underworld? I thought that the last before the reboot. Got it too.

Bit more fun than I recall of the old games:

IIRC TR: Legend was sort of considered the first reboot of the series, and Anniversary followed on the same engine as a remake of the original game. I personally think it captured the soul of what the earliest games were trying to do in the face of limited tech, which is execute solid, thoughtful platforming mechanics and puzzles.

I also enjoyed Underworld which was basically the sequel to Legend, but it’s a matter of personal taste more than anything as all three of these games are done well and fun to play. I’m partial to Anniversary for its laser focus on core mechanics, whereas the other two felt more like they were trying to be jacks of all trades gameplay-wise. As a disclaimer I never actually finished Legend (yet), but it is certainly more in the vein of Underworld enough to draw upon similarities.

Ah, Remember Me, which ironically got forgotten almost immediately. Had that once, but refunded because it ran like absolute ass on my system from back then. Don't recall much about it, aside from the visual style and that it had some kind of 'build you own combo' mechanic.
I actually remember it, and getting annoyed by the repetition of levels, unique-but-ultimately-stale-feeling combat, and awkwardly implemented memory sequences. According to trophy stats, I got to episode 5 which is over half way through, so I gave it the ol’college try at least.

Dammit, how I’m wondering if my save data is still in the cloud somewhere and if I should redownload and reinstall to finish it. I rarely go back to PS3 but might make an exception here.
