Hello!

I'm kinda new to these forums so i don't know if this is the right place to ask.
I just saw an advert of a local gamestore: The Orange Box for PS3 for ?15. (I bet you all know but it covers Half Life 2 + Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal).

Is it worth taking The Orange Box home for 15 bucks? And maybe you guys can tell me some more about the games because i never played one of them.

Thanks!

Get it on the PC, the console versions are shit.

They never update the PS3 or XBox 360 versions, so both will be buggy, unbalanced, exploitable, and frustrating.

EDIT: But yes, it's a very good buy.

Honestly, for the PS3, it is not worth it. The Orange Box got a really bad PS3 port, and is really not worth it. I bought it for $10, and it was not worth it for that amount of money. Each level in the single player games mid-level loads about 4-5 times per level, completely breaking the flow.

TF2 hasn't gotten any real updates, and hardly anyone goes on it on the PS3 version.

Save your money.

I'd advise against it. The PS3 port is apparently quite poor and the console versions of Team Fortress are both inferior to the PC version. Get it if you want, it'll probably give you enough entertainment for just 15 sponds.

It's worth it for Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2 makes it exceptional and Portal just makes it so beautiful...

Buy it on whatever you like the most. Personally ive got it on the 360 and its great. If you dont want it on the 360... get it on something else.
For $15... which is say £11 to me. its definately worth it. Knowing what it is id pay at £30 for it in a heartbeat.

No, get the PC version if you can and get yourself a lot of extra free stuff as well as avoiding a lot of trouble.

If that is not an available option, then the PS3 version is OK, but you miss out on a hell of a lot of stuff from TF2, easily another full price game's worth.

Nah,(for TF2) PC gets balance updates, new items at a steady pace, different promotional activities, offline training for new guys, bots, etc.

Just get it, fine on PS3.
Not if you want to play TF2. So yeah, get it on the PC if you can.

If not, the PS3 should be getting Steamware soon so eventually TF2 will be updated through that.

If you can buy portal on it's own you'll be much happier and you'll save money. Half Life 2 (And episodes) is less a game, and more a teaching tool on the depths people's opinions will sink to. You will leave depressed, then you will be confused, then angry, and then you will accept that it's basically the PC gaming equivalent of Twilight and there's no reasoning with it's fanbase aboot it.

I own the Orange Box on both PS3 and on Steam, and while I highly recommend the Orange Box, I suggest that you purchase it through Steam instead. It may cost more, but you'll be getting a version of all 5 games which Valve still supports on a regular basis. TF2 has had well over 100 updates, and HL2 is still being updated even now--over 5 years after the release of the game. Additionally, the PC/Mac community is a lot stronger than the community on PS3 (by which I mean that there are a lot of people who play these games and who will happily play them with you). Conversely, on PS3, there are frequent technical issues: the sound is frequently filled with static, there are some visual hiccups, and I've run into a few errors that took me outside of maps in a way that forced me to quit the game and restart from my last save.

If the price is an issue (I believe it's standard price is $30 American), then just wait for a few weeks: Steam is ALWAYS having sales, so you should be able to pick the game up soon at a pretty ridiculous discount.

You'll probably have a good time with the Orange Box no matter which version you buy, but the PC/Mac version is the one which I consider to be the best due to it's frequent--and totally free--support from Valve that neither console gets (hell, Valve didn't even MAKe the PS3 version, they made EA UK do that).

Well personally I didn't like any of the games apart from TF2 which I haven't played, but everyone else in the entire world most people seem to love them, so I'd say it's worth it, especially at that price.

Nope, they got here first.
Damn Elitist ninjas are everywhere.
Its not our fault Valve left the consoles behind.

OT: Yeah, if possible go for the PC version. The games are fine on any system, but if you want to play Team Fortress 2 go for the PC. If you just want to play Half Life/Portal, then get it for whatever.

No updates for the games is holding me back a little, but because my laptop (Yes, laptop -.- )is to crappy to play them i will get it tomorrow. It's not alot of money and i always wanted to try Portal.

Thanks for the quick replys!

(P.S. If PS3 soon supports the steam.. thing.. it might get updates so i pray for that).
