I say it's worth installing origin for.Sims 2 with the expansions and mods was the best in the series.
On short bursts it is a blast to play.

Nope, Origin is hardrive cancer, no game is going to make me use it (Short of holding the Dragon Age games hostage... fucking pricks).

*sigh*

Actually almost got me to get Origin there for a moment EA. Still not going to though, even though I remember that Sims 2 was a delight to play with my friend at his house. We enjoyed torturing the poor sods...

That's really good timing - I'd just installed my old Sims 2 games onto my laptop to give them a whirl because I was starting to pine after it. Now I can play all the expansions without giving EA any of my money!

EDIT: ....and now the download keeps failing. I'll keep trying though - it might just be terrible New Zealand practically-third-world-country internet.

It's pretty much confirmed this pack will have more content than The Sims 4.
EA are really good at bad marketing.

Wow, EA doing something not evil for once? Why do I get the feeling that this is a ploy to garner goodwill before they spring some new horror on us? Oh, wait. Pattern recognition.

The Sims 2 is so much better than The Sims 3.

While TS3 has some nice features like horses, holidays and scuba-diving, its gameplay is kind of boring and the engine is a complete mess with a failed attemp at creating an open neighbourhood, which resulted in incredibly long loading times, crashes to desktop and pop-in, among many other problems. It's also important that this version of TS2 takes only 12 Gb of HD space, while TS3 take more than 50 Gb with all the expansions packs.

I think this is a win-win situation for EA and for all people that enjoy games.

It downloaded fine for me, and played as well on Windows 7. The only issue I have is the load times, but with as much "stuff" as Sims 2 has, it's understandable.

EA, you did good for once. Now, follow it up with more good stuff. You can't rely on doing the occasional good thing and expect to get praise.

Got it yesterday and works like a dream. Load times can be a ***** but it doesn't really detract from my enjoyment. Also for those who want this but don't like Origin, you don't have to have it open to play.

captcha: pester power. I'm already on strike, captcha what do you want!

So I (regrettably) use Windows 8.1, managed to download it all fine and now it crashes constantly. I've tried compatibility modes, running as admin, etc. Any new ideas?

So it turns out they snuck SecuROM onto this "free" giveaway. Even more happy I didn't get it now.

It kinda does for me. Having played the Sims 3 first it's a little hard to go to 2 minute loading times every 5-10 minutes whenever you do pretty much anything after the seamless experience the Sims 3 offered. I'll probably get used to it eventually, but it's still a minus.

Giving away the best Sims game before you release your shit watered-down version doesn't sound smart, but I'll fucking take it.

...Oh. What a pleasant surprise, EA. That was really nice of you.

Now, how about those pools and infants? ...Still a no?

Damnit, I'll take what I can get.

What does Securom actually do? I've run the game a few times without Origin and don't notice anything different.
