"I think Hitler was right." Said in spite.
A racist guy once said this to me and my Jewish friend.
I knocked him out in five seconds flat. Guy was a huge dick.

"Rape is a feminist myth."

It mainly pisses of women, specifically women who consider themselves feminists, but it gets everyone if you say it right and the people don't know you're taking the piss.
Oh and this.

Anyone who is so stupid and willfully ignorant that they would describe rape as any kind of myth is worthy of a painful death imho or at least of castration.

Having known several rape victims in the past this is something I have no time or patience with. Trivialising rape simply makes you an excellent target for pain and hatred - end of.

Words are funny things. One set of words can instantly calm someone down, one set of words could spark off a massive argument. Matter of fact, it might be more accurate to say humans are funny things...

Anyway, this is about the latter. Not the humans. The words. The words that let loose the dogs of hell. The words on the can opener with which the can of worms is opened. The words that seemingly instantly cause havoc, arguments, and hatred. Basically, what phrases seem to instantly spark off arguments between those you know?

"You wouldn't understand"

I don't know how much shit has been started by those three words. To make a scientific guess, I'd say "a lot". Whether it's because someone's past was harder than someone elses, or because someone lives quite differently to someone else, or simply because they're different people, once this is out of the bag, it's all screwed.

Hell, I've done it in the past. It's probably true. I'm a rather different person, other people truly wouldn't understand, I'm not calling them stupid just...not like me. Thing is, even when it is true, it leads to nothing but trouble, leaving the other side not understanding why they wouldn't understand, and you not understanding why they can't understand that they won't understand. Understand?

See? See how fucking ridiculous that gets? Those words must be left alone. At all costs.

"Grow up"

It instantly makes you angry. Anger does not make logic. Anger makes shouting and much storming around, and occasionally fire and corpses. It's made worse that it's rarely followed by anything. No explanation, just a suggestion that you are immature.

Thing is, people who aren't immature don't usually believe they are, and being told they are thus makes them angry. People who are immature will either argue to the end that they're not, or they have no problems with being immature, and will just see you as a boring person who's given themselves to the boredom of maturity, and as such, the use of immaturity as an insult will anger them.

The only way this doesn't go to a never-ending argument is if the person is mature, but doesn't believe so. In which case you just reinforced their lack of faith in themselves. Good job, hero.
I got both of those phrases in a single discussion with someone who really didnt like me or, this is probably obvious, didnt really respect me that much...

Course I didnt get angry or upset (outwardly atleast) because they were calling the kettle black. Didnt having anything good for the first, but the second I just threw back at them, "you do it first."

Anyways, the one phrase that pisses me off to now ends...

Lol.

Just some information, these letter dont usually bother me. Its when they are used in arguements, expecially when used in response to mine or someone elses arguement. That basically sums up that mine or another persons arguement is a joke. Its just the most disrepectful thing a person could do without resorting to blatent language or threats of violence. Also, putting an emoticons like :) ;) :p ;p as well. I wish the Escpaist made putting emoticons in arguement posts a bannable offense...

I've said it twice to people, one of which was followed by a sexist comment that I'll get to soon. They both pissed people off, one of the times a friend repeated it in disgust and got the blame for it; it was hilarious.

The other time it was in a string of sexist comments one of which also got under someone's skin.

"As a misogynist, from a purely evolutionary standpoint, women are just shallow materialistic whores."

Say what you will about how horrific they are, I am brilliant at pissing people off. I find it utterly hilarious.

"That's just the way things are in this world. Deal with it."

No. To hell with that. I've had this told to me numerous times regarding "cuss words" when I argue that they were meaningless without context and that the words themselves couldn't possibly be construed negatively on their own. But, no, just because those people grew up being told that there were "bad words", that they should never be spoken ever, because "that's the way things are".

This is kind of my point right here. Joking about rape is not funny - not in any context. Try to imagine - like close your eyes and REALLY THINK about what it would be like - for yourself, for your mother, your daughter, your sister or whoever else you care about, to be raped. Now try to imagine the rage, the disgust, the anger and the shame that would provoke in you. Thats what im talking about.

You joke about it and make it the subject of humour and that makes you (imo) only slightly behind in evil the person who commits the crime. I know this thread is for comments that you KNOW are going to piss people off, but just try and imagine what your "jokes" are going to feel like from the perspective of someone who has actually been raped. Funny? I think not.

Pushing the boundaries of humour is one thing - pushing the boundaries of mental pain is another.

NEVER imagine that it isnt you when it comes to rape. Always try to imagine its you on the recieving end. That its YOU that is being sexually abused against your will. If you still find it funny when you truly understand and have experienced it then go for it. Otherwise just dont. Hurting people and bringing horrible memories to mind for no reason is not a cause for humour.

Look dude, I appreciate what you're trying to do but I really could not give a fuck. Jokes like this are always gonna cut a little too deep for someone but that isn't going to stop me from making them. People have tonnes of issues that they need to deal with so I'm not going to watch my tongue trying to make sure I don't hurt someone, even if it means hurting them bad.

Rape jokes, dead baby jokes, suicide jokes, abandonment jokes; you name it, they're all pretty hilarious.

You see the thing is I kind of agree with you on that. Anything goes as far as humour is concerned. My problem with rape is that in too many societies it simply isnt considered as a real problem. Hard to admit to, hard to arrest and hard to convict ammounts to approximately a 12% conviction rate (in the UK) for all rapes commited.

I consider rape to be a special case because it is so underrated as a crime and as a problem by most societies on Earth. When Frankie Boyle (Im gonna assume youre a fan - as am I) cracks a joke I dont think too much about it - but its become far too much of a social problem to be ignored.

I dont mind cancer jokes despite my father who died from lymphoma, I dont mind suicide jokes even though my grandmother killed herself. I do mind rape jokes because their is no reason that anyone could consider it moral or just. No reason that anyone could consider it as natural or good. And if you do then honestly, go fuck yourself - or better - educate yourself.

If you dont give a shit then thats ok. Ill just see you as being one more of the assholes out there who dont give a damn about anything or anyone expect in your own tiny, closed little world.

As ive said o many people in my time - "Theres 7 billion out there - have some fucking respect".

Of course I don't think rape is natural or good (at least for humans, I'm sure there's some animal that just goes for it out there). I do think, however, that making a joke isn't evil at all, it certainly doesn't make me "slightly behind in evil the person who commits the crime" because that is trivializing rape. Making jokes about it isn't a social problem that needs to be tackled, treating it like victims of it need to be protected like a little bird that's fallen out of a tree is.

I just happen to be of the mindset that if something is important enough that you should be taking it seriously then you shouldn't take it seriously, it just isn't fun that way. Being there for a victim and helping them is cool, but treating rape like it's the very essence of the devil and shouldn't be spoken of lest you feel the wrath is ridiculous.

Yeah, I am fairly self involved and egocentric but if you think I don't give shit about the world because I'm willing to make a joke then you're just as much of an asshole as you think I am. Taking things like rape too seriously is moronic, the judicial system deals with it and we tackle it as a crime with a victim, nothing more and certainly nothing less.

And Frankie's slipping, at least in recent years, though I do still think he's awesome.

Alright, here we go.

"I'm not going to listen to your argument anyway"

The fact that, by saying this, you point out that you're absolutely careless and that you are going to shrug off any (even the most reasonable) arguments. Saying this means you block every other person's out of the discussion, for no good reason at all.

Way down the line of destructiveness are sentences that begin with "By my principles, I'm against [subject X]". Principles are there for when one is too lazy to discuss why they are against something. It blocks any comments out, therefor drowning reason.

However, I find OP's 2 sentences very good as well. "Grow up" being able to aggrevate me increadibly.

Bonus:

As a single, most destructive word, I'd choose "no". It adheres to complaining, denying and turning down. The word "no" always has a negative impact on you, when hearing this, even when the message itself is happy. It is and carries negative thought.

"Oh Lighten Up"

This phrase usually follows some type of disconcerting sociopath/psychopath's event. Example:

A: "Dude, making fun of suicide or trying to make someone kill themselves is really, really bad."

B: "Oh, lighten up."

Your super detective skills are really super!
"Vittu" is basically the female genitalia but I think "Fucking Whore" would be the best way to refrase it into English. But there's something about Finns reacting to this phrase.

"Stop acting so childish"
I agree. My usual response is "The day I am no longer childish is the day I realise I have been fully indoctrinated by society. It is also the day I kill myself".

One of my main sensitive phrases is if anyone refers to me as a "consumer". I find this term deeply offensive. I am a person with hopes, dreams, desires, fears, aspirations, skills, relationships and hobbies. I am not a mindless wallet of legs ready to vomit money over whoever has the gaudiest advertising.
