I'm actually trying to break into the internet reviewer field myself and a lot of my inspiration and timing came from Spoony. So seeming him like this was... heartbreaking to say the least. My thoughts are on my website here: http://www.fishandcherries.com/?p=308

FYI, I'm better now, but I was in a very dark place when I wrote this.

You know what'sone of the worst parts in this? http://i.imgur.com/s4j02.jpg It seems to me that Scarlett (spoony's ex), lupa and holly (the PR girl) were kinda together in this.
If thats true. Then thats just fucking low.
I doubt it's true though, at least not entirely. There's a lot of speculation that Noah has been harassing Scarlett behind the scenes pretty much since they broke up. Between his harassment of her and several of the other female reviewers on the site (look on his twitter; he's been trying to hook up with everybody , especially since early May), there's a lot of reasons that these three women would be on the same side.

Teaming up to take him down, however...doesn't make a lot of sense. All three have publicly stated on multiple occasions that they just want Noah to get the help he needs, that they hate seeing him so angry and depressed, and they want him to know that life can move on. Trying to team up to get him fired would only aggravate such depression and make it MORE likely that he'd harass them. It's possible, but I doubt it.

Wow. Just wow. I have to agree with him on some of the issues with Spoony.
I could literally feel the rage.

To be fair to Channel Awesome, they have publicly said they are more than happy to have him appear in future crossovers, and they are keeping him in the Year 4 video (already filmed) and any already planned crossovers. (See Gookygox's twitter for reference).

I don't really care what Spoony's personality is any more than I care what Ray Lewis may or may not have done on a late december night in Atlanta 12 years ago. Being a jerk does not mean one is not talented or entertaining, after all.
Oh I didn't mean Channel Awesome would be unfair for prohibiting it. Hell, I understand what a PR nightmare this must be and, considering you have so many of your producers unrestrained in their attacks to one another, I wouldn't have been surprised simply because I understand you do what you have to do to keep as clean as possible in the public eye. In fact, I kind of wish after Spoony exploded on twitter that they would have restricted the producers who involved themselves in the affair (Lupa, Phelan, others) from publicly addressing the issue.

But yeah, Spoony has so many problems, he's an asshole and a troll and he needs therapy.

Even so, that will not stop me from watching what is still great entertainment, and it only makes me wish for him to get better even more.
Yeah, I know what you mean. They really should have capped the lid on this whole mess sooner, because the snowball effect on people's emotions got out of control very quickly. It might have helped Spoony stay in the end had so many others not gotten involved, but I blame a lot of that on the community, many members of which have been systematically harassing anyone who is, was, or could be involved in this mess. Even people like the Rap Critic have been forced to weigh in due to an onslaught of twitter followers commenting on it, and he's not even mildly involved.

I truly hope he gets better as well. Back in high school, I had my own depression/suicidal phase, and his seems to be far worse than mine ever was. All you can do in this situations is cross your fingers and hope for the best.

I think it's really sad, I like spoony a lot more than most on that site. It seems completely unfair how some of the others have treated him when his issues are a well known thing at this point. He pretty clearly wasn't being serious in the first place and it's horrifying to see a bunch of "adults" gang up to essentially bully a guy who already had problems.

Dude, with all respect, I have trouble seeing some innocuous way to interpret that. Scarlett knows the person who gave him the axe (suspended, fired, whatever, the point is it happened and this woman had her finger on the trigger) and saw fit to THANK Lupa, the one who dredged all this up after a month or more of silence.

I understand you're trying to be more "neutral" about this but sometimes things are exactly as scummy as they appear to be. Forget the thank you thing, not that it's not rather damning, but come the hell on, "new beginnings from other beginnings ends"? I mean that sounds a lot like "so now that he's out can I get his spot?"

Again...how ELSE does one interpret that? Ok to be fair, it could just be pretentiousness, since some people DO apply that level of "woe-is-me" drama to everything but considering the response was an emoticon away from being just "lol" I doubt it. And like I said that's before we begin to interpret what "Thank you Obscuras Lupa" means...

I think a lot of people don't want to accept the kind of idiotically deep rooted intrigue that (apparently!) goes on in Channel Awesome. I don't see why though--it's like any business, people trying to one-up one another and take their place, or gain power through proper maneuvering, or holding grudges because of old insults etc etc. Like I get why people may find it hard to just look at the funny people in their videos the same way again and maybe it's just my experience but NONE of this surprises me or even strikes me as strange--petty and childish yes but not surprising or strange.

Also, captcha: through the grapevine...

I'm with the guy in that other thread, these Captchas have become self-aware and now they're trolling us.

You take it at face value and not over think it. Face value is one person thanking another for calling out a bad joke. You are over thinking it and trying to find some hidden agenda behind this, for all we know, meaningless gesture.

Why did it take a month? Who decides there is an appropriate window of time to complain about these things?

The bosses at Channel Awesome gave us a cutout explanation that you will find in any company when they kick someone.
So you can't trust it because they said it?

Karadalis said:
Fact is all this happened in a very short time and his conflict with Lupa and the whole shebang afterwards is just to close together for not being connected.
A connection is not a causal relationship.

People complained in this very thread that Spoony was not delivering enough content to the site. So if he doesn't deliver, how can he have an influence whatsoever on ad revenue when he's so sparely shown on the website?
If they complain he's not putting out enough material, then that means they want to see more material and are watching to see when more comes out. That in turn means they are visiting the site, and probably watching other videos when they get there.

Karadalis said:
At least I like to believe that people have enough braincells to differentiate between one single producer and everyone else on the site.
Except that by continuing to post his material, thatguywiththeglasses.com is implicitly condoning the material and willingly associating with his online behavior. It's not totally fair, but it's not totally unfair, either.

Karadalis said:
Writing "complaints emails" when you are not even a customer, haven't spent any money whatsoever on a product, or are in any way monetarily involved in the business have absolutely no right to complain at all, especially when they are bitching about stuff that has nothing to do with Noah's actual job as a producer.
Ignoring once again that every viewer is directly responsible for the amount of money the website makes, your argument that I can't complain if I don't pay is nonsense. If I see something wrong, I will take action to stop it; and if that involves complaining, so much the better for me, because it's easier than most routes.

Fair enough. I just take issue with the idea that what's wrong when she does it becomes right when he does it. That's some moral alchemy right there.

...

And to everyone who insists that this is some sort of conspiracy against Mr. Antwiler by the women in his life, I beg you all to remember that thatguywiththeglasses.com is a business. It is how at least two of the women involved in this alleged conspiracy feed themselves. If you think they are so childish and flatly stupid as to take bread from their own mouths in order to feed a vendetta, then I have to say, I think that assumption says much more about your character than theirs.

But alright, let's say it is true. Let's say these three women, one of whom dated him for I don't even know how long, all hate him so much they'd cut their noses off just for the sake of getting revenge on him. That kind of leads to an inevitable question, doesn't it? You have to ask yourself, "Revenge for what? What did he do to inspire such so much hate that they're willing to count themselves as collateral damage just to spite him?"

Whether you agree with this assessment on my part or not isn't something that can be argued with facts or cold hard evidence, so anything beyond this is just a pissing contest.

That's all I'm willing to bring to the table since it seems we both have our own different perspectives on the rights and wrongs of the case at hand.
Don't try to couch this with some noble excuse. You are siding with Spoony because he is Spoony.

No, just because he has clinical depression is not an excuse for his actions. He is still responsible for what he is doing.

Is there anything wrong with siding with Spoony because he is Spoony? Guy has made me laugh countless times. SWAT4 lets plays where awesome.

Channel Awesome is the one choosing to be dicks by picking money over the people that got them to the dance. Think Paul Heyman would of ever did that to his ECW guys?

(and mind you, the problem is not CA pick money over Spoony. It's picking money over spoony and not having the balls to say that in the first place, the only shame in selling out is if one is not willing to cop to it.)

Wow, it's amazing to see how many people are missing what ACTUALLY happened.

Channel Awesome has come out repeated times saying that the rape joke, Obscurus Lupa's reaction, and any of the Lord Kat controversy had NOTHING to do with why he quit (and he did quit, mind you. He was given a four week suspension and quit two days in after originally saying he agreed with the decision). Look at Gookygox's twitter and all the comments they've made. They've made this point overwhelmingly clear.

The reasons for him being suspended have a lot to do with more recent actions on his part (the rape joke was a couple months ago, and he received his warning as everyone moved on from that awkwardness). He's been exploding at fans and fellow contributors left and right, continuously trying to hook up with every female member of the site both on and offline, and he's pushed away multiple people who attempted to reach out to him both privately and publicly (look at Linkara and Oancitizen's twitter for what I mean).

The guy is clearly very depressed, and he doesn't seem to have any interest in making himself better. Does that mean people should stop watching his videos? Of course not. There are far worse things than being an asshole in this world. But on a website that prides itself on creating a community? He didn't belong anymore. CA made the right choice with a suspension (again, NOT fired), and Spoony may have made the right choice for himself by leaving the site. Just please, no one make this about an incredibly distasteful joke made over a month ago that had nothing to do with what's going on.
The Lupa et al. blaming really needs to stop. It's patently clear that not only is it not about the rape joke, but also that everyone involved - except Spoony, it should be noted - would much rather just move on from it.

I mean, for one, it's virulently misogynistic to blame women for being offended by harassment and rape jokes. For two, it's psychotic to unflaggingly support Spoony as if he's done nothing wrong. For three, it's making a personal conflict into a sad, public spectacle which, if you all were so concerned about Spoony's mental health, you wouldn't want to be doing.

Scarlett was right that curiosity is addicting [http://scarlettopia.tumblr.com/], but it's a moral wrong to satisfy your curiosity when it's at the expense of others.

Okay 1, (cause I'm making a point to everyone that splits up my posts from now on) quote my whole post and just write shit underneath if you want me to further converse with you sir. You wouldn't stop me mid-sentence to counterpoint in real life, then ask me to continue only to stop again. Don't worry, I have a long attention span, you won't lose me if you write a novel instead of speaking in sound bites.

Also thats the way the internet works dude. I find someone rude or offensive? I use the fucking block button. Thats what it's there for, that is what it's DESIGNED for. Of course no one else uses it, I suppose they like to rage against people they don't like or if they're a suicidal teenager read the mean things other say about them so it can feed their energy into doing the deed. He's a web-comedian, Twitter is just another medium he uses to apply his craft. Just like when you watch Television and you don't like something? Change the channel, theres 300 more.

Life is to fucking short to waste time boldly declaring to anyone "I AM UNFOLLOWING YOU SIR, FOR YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS THE ASSHOLE!". Just unfollow/block and move the fuck on, announcing it as if the whole world needs to hear ones decision to is egotistical as fuck.

Because to not do so is not being honest. Suddenly they went from a bunch of indie guys trying to scrap by entertaining people to worrying about getting to the "mainstream" completely forgetting how good they have with the audience they currently have, thats why.

The thing here some forget is that this all happened on Twitter, not one of their videos: This all took place in a public place. Spoony wasn't being a jackass to all in a video that had other actors, a script, was taped, edited and uploaded. NOAH ANTWILER, the person you clearly see owns that Twitter account and has a character called Spoony, is the one that has been acting like as asshat for weeks.

His comments have been in bad tasted, some of them of a misogynistic in nature. Lupa just expressed in a very simple and direct tone she didn?t appreciate his comments lately. Noah just continued being an ass (like he had been for week), got suspended, continued being an ass and got kicked out (or left in a hissyfit).

And since he clearly can?t understand why someone, especially a woman, can find misogynist jokes offensive, he continues to make them (guess his ?sorry? means crap) and act like a bitter ass on his public Twitter.

Is Noah depressed? Looks like it, but he certainly isn?t playing Russian roulette. He?s more busy acting like a bitter clown on Twitter and actually doing something productive for himself by working on his new server. So he is occupied with something so that is good.

He was dumped? freaking months ago. Being depressed doesn?t give you the right to act like an ass to everybody. He is not out of a job, heck, he has almost 20000 Twitter followers, his own page full of videos and a forum. He shot himself in the foot with this because he now has more work to do alone and has shown that hibut the reality is that he had very few real content on TGWTG. His webpage is the one that has tons of videos.

For a guy that bases his comedy on hate ranting other peoples work he sure has emokid level emotional maturity when dealing with someone that doesn?t applaud his dump and overused by a million idiots before sexist ?comedy?.

Well, I thought I'd finally toss in my two cents in here as this seems to be the only stable forum that also happens to be filled with the most level-headed people I see (although I've only read through a few pages).

I've been a huge Spoony fan and even found this website through a comment on one of his videos. I've watched his reviews and videos (or had them playing in the background while I did something else) multiple times each. And really, I don't really know whose side to take in the whole thing. It's one of those things where everyone seemed to be out of line. I honestly can't say if anyone was justified in their position. And by anyone, I'm talking about those definitely involved in something. Spoony, Lupa, CA, I'm not sure. Really, I'm proud for those who stayed out of it and/or listed a simple opinion. Joe, Linkara, JO, all of them took it pretty well.

But I will say that Spoony is probably tied with Yahtzee in the realm of entertainment here and I'll still watch all of his videos. I just hope him the best.

I'm a really big fan, but Spoony's really been an asshat for a while now. I can't believe how he seemingly didn't give a shit about benig in trouble with CA. Lots of people work their asses off just to get a CHANCE to get on the site, and he just doesn't seem to care.

Why can't Twitter be just another medium for him to provide entertainment? Why does he have to be Noah anytime he's not in a video?

I mind you, WWE regularly has it's wrestlers put over their fictional storyline through their twitter accounts and what not.

Also I think all this bullshit has cause him to gain about 1,000 followers... so he's earned from all this free publicity, not lost (so far.)

Last tweet I saw of him said he was done with the sever swapping, sooooo yeah.

Some background into this.
This is the original tweet in question:
At the time this was tweeted JessuOtaku had blow it off and it had gone under the radar.
Allison Pregler (aka Obscurus_Lupa) admitted (I'm still looking for the exact tweet, I lost it in all the mess) that she wasn't a fan of Noah after E3/as of late noticed he was in a bad place emotionally and thus dredged the tweet up to rip into him.

This led to a back and forth between them, that escalated into insult throwing.

Right as this escalation grew Channel Awesome, the guys behind That Guy With the Glasses, suddenly put Spoony on a suspension. Considering the amount of parroting Lupa has done of Holly Christine (Human Resources for Channel Awesome), many believe there are some shenanigans behind the scene with Holly taking Allison's side and serving up spoony.

Once the news of the suspension hit the net, and spoony went on a twitter spree, channel awesome threw him a ban, and the a subsequent announcement of letting him go.

More speculation: A lot of Channel Awesome members have been copy pasting to their twitters that this had nothing to do with the tweet/feud, but the timing of events and Lupa pretty much cheering over it makes it look pretty dirty.

Members of channel awesome have been handling it pretty badly too, ranging from people like Phelous accusing spoony of being a misogynistic stalker to LordKat encouraging Spoony to commit suicide.

I'll refine and expound on all this if there is interest.
I'd have thought Lupa and Spoony would have gotten along well considering their personas. Pretty shitty of her to exploit him like this. What did he do at E3? I'd noticed he wasn't posting regularly on the site for some time before now, is there a connection?
Exploit? Do you not know what sexual harassment IS? I'd go to HR and complain about it if it made me uncomfortable. All they had to do was tell him that he overstepped his bounds, and not to do it again, or ChannelAwesome would be liable. Sounds like he went on a tirade, so I can't really blame anyone but Spoony here.

Hope he goes back on his meds and takes a chill pill.

When this people are not "in character", they tell you or yoe clearly see they change how they speak. You don't have that in Twitter. If anything, the TGWTG team need a code of conduct to prevent this crap again. They are public people even if they don't like it.

And I think I remmber he was closer to 30000 when this started. He actually says on one recent Twitt: "Delightful to finally cut some dead weight from my Twitter and Facebook friends lists at las". He knows he has lost a lot of fans.
