On Sunday I was playing Hitman Absolution and was probably a little over halfway through the game when it froze while loading a checkpoint. I picked up the game a few hours later to find that all my progress was gone. I couldn't even get to the mission from the mission select feature, I really mean all of my progress. I traded it in an hour later.

Star Ocean 3. It was a specific enemy towards the end of the game that would fire a barrage of missiles that would follow you and when (not if, when) one hits you, it launches you in the air allowing the rest to quickly chip away at your health and kill you in mid air. I quit the game for a while. I eventually beat it though. Not a great game IMO.

The 2010 remake (reboot?) of Splatterhouse. I only made it to about the third chapter when I was about done with it.

The difficulty was all over the place, the combat was incredibly repetitive, and not even the awesome voice work of Jim Cummings was enough to pull me through to the end. No, the real stinger was the atrocious cutscenes. Allow me to explain: each and every time you die (and take my word for it, you do this a lot), you are forced to endure an agonizing 15-20 seconds of the ugliest monsters snarling and growling as they fight for screen space. It isn't even as if there are variations of this, oh no: it is the exact same animation looping over and over again.

That, along with the loopy, woobly camera shaking that goes on during these loading screens, I was getting headaches, fast.

So yeah, fuck that game hard. I wasn't going to deal with that anymore.

My quickest rage quit in a game was Hawx 2. I think it was like the second mission where I have to refuel the plane. I loved Hawx because of shooting and dog-fighting fun. If I wanted an airplane sim, I would get a better airplane sim. After my third attempt to refuel the stupid thing, I quit and sold the game.

Fable 2. They train you into a rhythm. There's an oncoming big bad coming and you have a year to prepare, so every week or so, you meet with your court and have to make a moral decision for the betterment of the kingdom or the best preparedness in the face of the oncoming bad.

Then, all of a sudden, the last decision you made leaving you 6 months on the clock, it jumps to the day before. All those plans you had for fully exploring every area, or maybe transferring some of your sizeable wallet that you'd been sensibly investing in local business to generate far more money than it would have sitting in some vault somewhere back into the kingdom's funds? Too late. The game has locked the coffers, the time has passed, and there was no warning.

Alright. I'll just load the last save.

There is no last save. Only a quicksave which the game has already made, after the point of no return. If you want to get back to before that point, you have to replay the whole damn thing.

Yeah. I never finished that game.
That's Fable III bro.

OT: Uh. Probably the original Fallout games. Mostly when your asshole teammate crit hits you by accident and you die. Or you crit hit yourself and you die. Or for some reason you constantly miss your target despite having a guns skill of 100 and they constantly hit you for very high ammounts... and you die. Or when there's like 50 enemies and one round of turns takes about an hour to get through. SLFJLKISFJSLFkdssdkfjlaslf.

I am not a fan of the original Fallout games. And yet I keep playing 2...

Diablo 3. No big "fuck you" event, my interest in it simply evaporated at around the end of act 1 when I realized that my spells' strength scaled with the damage range of my weapon. The stupidity of that design somehow led me to the crashing realization of how bad the loot system was in that game, and I bailed on the spot. Lost out on quite a bit of cash, but I'm glad I stopped playing when I did.

Dark Souls, right about at the Valley of the Giants (or whatever it was called, the place with no light), the game abruptly went from being a uniquely challenging experience to a remorseless grind. I still might finish it one day, though.

Just got Baldur's Gate Enhanced, and I have a "fuck this game" moment roughly every time I play it. However, I just take a break and come back.

GTA 4's despawning of cars was probably the worse thing about that game.

Whenever I have a steak of bad luck in Halo 4 MP. Especially when I am constantly getting killed by BR users. I mean Jesus those things are stupidly accurate. Even in close range I have trouble killing the bastards. You'd think a weapon like the AR or Storm Rifle would trump the BR in close range but nope. More often than not I'm face down dead.

I guess I don't have those essential twitch reflexes to keep up.
If you're using the Assault Rifle or the Storm Rifle in Halo 4, twitch has nothing to do with it. 9 times out 10, they're gonna land a five shot on you before you can even take out the shields. That's just what Halo is.

Basically, if you're using either of those guns, you're doing it wrong. You need to use gun that's capable of headshots.

Metroid Other M When I was forced into first person mode and had to look for something, that I only found 12 minutes later by accident.

How about telling me what I'm looking for?

How about having her spot it in a cut scene?

I recall fond memories of Kingdom Hearts boss fights. You think you're a badass at the end of the game and then you go back to Agrabah and see this ************...

...who effectively rips out your testicles, shows all the faces of your potential children, and then destroys your very being.

When I was playing Skyrim and progressing through the main questline only to find that I was precisely the right amount through the Imperial/Stormcloak questline that I was pretty much prevented from continuing. That, along with the Forsworn Briarheart whose heart I couldn't use for the damn quest because I already had it when I got the quest and the book that I found early that wouldn't become a quest item for the library and losing my two thralls in an area because they couldn't be fucked walking out...

But mainly that first one. I love you Skyrim, but if I'm not going to see a return on my investment THERE ARE OTHER GAMES I CAN EASILY PLAY.

(Also when MH Tri was announced as Wii-exclusive despite being promised as cross-platform, but that's not really the spirit of the thread. CAPCOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM...!)

A lot of people just do not want to play nice and make a halfway decent platoon that actually listens to each other. Do people in FPSs just not listen to orders?
OR
Running across the map for 10 goddamn minutes because no one wanted to touch down for a second and let me into their transport and then get sniped by some guy I can't see.

Metroid: Other M. Every single cutscene. Even the ones that seemed minor, like showing Samus's past in the Federation, felt like a slap in the face to me as a Metroid fan.

Hm... the easy, low-hanging fruit would be Sonic '06, which is just an exercise in futility that goes on for far too long.

This thread reminded me of the last boss in Gears of War, which is completely asinine.

Blood-mages from Dragon Age: Origins made me fly off the handle, too.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't really think of any at the moment.

Grand Theft Auto IV. The mission where Roman is captured by Dimitri and put into the warehouse. You can easily fuck it up at the last guy if you don't shoot properly or move to close as he's holding Roman hostage. That happened twice in a row, but the real kicker was on my third attempt. I finally killed that last guy properly and got Roman out. We hopped in the generously spawned car, which I then proceeded to drive over an explosive gas canister.
Yep. Was none to happy after that. Completed the game a few days later, but didn't play it for the rest of that day.

I think it was playing Oblivion when I was younger that made me obsess over back up saves.

Several hours of dungeon crawling and a boss fight, doomed to be glitched to death.

Far Cry 3.
Somehow ended outside of a mission area (was not even high lighted) and quest insta-failed. Causing me to restart it automatically. Hateful cursing and a 5min break were had.

Far cry 2. At first the game looked really cool and different from most shooters, the environments were nicely done and also more accurate than I though. But then it came to the point where I had to travel across the landscape and I actually enjoyed it, until I found out that every single ************ re spawn every five minutes.

Seriously I once cleared out an outpost to only walk a few meters in to the wild to get a diamond and when I came back for my car every single enemy in the outpost re spawned, and why the hell are they so fucking aggressive, I mean i was once in the middle of nowhere searching for some diamonds when one guy tried to ran me over in his shitty little car. That's where I just said "Fuck you far cry, fuck you".

But I like the Storm Rifle. I admit it can be tough to kill their shields with it, but goddammit I don't like the feel of 3 round burst weapons. I just can't get used to it. Plus I don't like having to be forced to use a specific weapon just to keep up. That's BS. If that's what they were going for then they should have just made the only weapons available the BR and DRM.
