Wow, these kind of things make me feel tiny. It kind of reminded me of the Eames movie that zoomed into the atoms in a guy's arm and then zoomed out to way out in space. Cool stuff.

EDIT: there is also that video on youtube about the the size of things in our universe
I thought it was a YTMND, not that it matters, I remember that the original missed a lot of the stars this one has.

Seeing these things make me wish I was born in a later time period where we can travel through space. Well much better than we can now. Possibly high five an alien, hell yeah.
Even the Star Trek folks can't travel beyond our galaxy, and hell, in that little spot there are over 10.000 galaxies. There are more things out there to discover then anyone could ever dream off.

Uhmmm, if we got a bigger sun we would all be fried. Actually that is going to happen but in the very distant future.

By the way, the pictures are fucking amazing.

They should have had an image of a human in a town, then a country, then a continent, then the earth, then the rest. Just to really drive home how insignificant you are.

I don't really care how big the universe is. There is one, and it's bigger than the planet. Fine.

Anything more than that (like trying to put into context how HUGE it is) makes my head hurt.

Kind of puts Palin and others' "The earth is less than 10,000 years old" argument to shame, doesn't it?

"Space; It seems to go on and on forever. Then you get to the end, and a monkey starts throwing barrels at you." - Phillip Fry

Yeah, that sums up my thoughts quiet nicely.

also can we please talk to the scientists about giving these planets cooler names? numbers are for squares!
There aren't enough sounds on Earth to assign one to every single planet in the Universe.

Now you know why most Science Fiction works are unrealistic; this scale is still sand grain compared to the distances between them

Just makes it harder for militaristic alien intergalactic nations to find and conquer us before we have the technology to fight back.

See? I can add a bright side to everything!

Well, if they're intergalactic, why would they conquer us?

They'd probably be sitting at one of the jaringan points studying us to determine the origin of their species to disprove all of the religious nujobs in their society, too.

okay, uploaded, see the above post.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
