The aspect that people feel safe on it, I would so much wish that I could punch through the screen.

Everything has two sides. Every downside has an equally powerful upside. Freedom of thought and expression allows some sickening stuff, but it also lets important and controversial stuff out.

Captcha: nglialia define. I'm sorry, but I cannot do that.

Fixed. No need for thanks, it's what I do.

Seriously, I am all alone here, just me and my beautiful human body & soul.

But at least there's a few machines and/or AIs to hang out with. ^_^

I hate that to many people seem to think the best way to argue is death treats and insults instead of disagreeing and presenting points.

I hate that cat video and random stupidity get more attention then the short movies and animations online that have long hours of work behind them.
this, a thousand times this.
that or whenever someone calls you a troll for really no reason other
than you have made a valid point in an argument that the other can not defend against.
i even call them out on it and they just spam shit like "yor fuckin rong faqil troll is fail"

i dare you just try having a intelligent conversation over youtube.

Newfag uprising. Fuck. Do. I. Hate. IT!

Think about small intelligent civilisation that suddenly gets populated by cavemen. You try to teach them one by one, but FUCK! Theres just too many of them and they cant understand a shit. So what do they do? They break everything down on to their level. And they cant even understand that and call it the right path, even thought they just dumb everything down! Its madness! The next following years you just have to stare at them as they reinvent the wheel. The same fucking wheel!

Hmm...I honestly don't know these internet "rules" that people talk about, but....

-I hate arguing on the internet. It doesn't work. You have to tread so carefully and word your responses just so. If you happen to even tangentially say something wrong, then the debate derails and the other person just becomes defensive and resorts to personal attacks. And since just about everything can be misinterpreted, that happens in pretty much every single debate on the internet ever.

-I hate how disgusting the internet is. This is why I don't explore, because if I do then I'll run into some really disturbing sexual perversion or some weirdo who is really into looking at and posting pictures of dead people. So I have my five or six websites that I stick to, with some others that I visit every now and then but not regularly (news sites and online stores, mostly). Seriously, 99% of my time on the internet is spent on five sites (The Escapist, Destructoid, ESPN, a Yankees/Sabermetric blog, and Pandora).

The rise of the 'Google professors' i.e people who have no real knowledge of whatever subject your discussing but will chip in or make a idiotic point based on some random Google result or wiki.

That and people think just because you're on the Internet and have no consequences it means that it's ok to act in a rude or aggressive way unlike how they would behave if they where face to face with who they where conversing with.

Anger for me, way too much anger. If you dislike something fine and some things do anger me but everything angers people on the internet no matter how small and insignificant.

That's easy, it's what is worse about everything, it's PEOPLE, if it contains humans it can't be that good, in fact it is the thing that ruins everything.
Take any problem and remove people from it and the problem ceases to exist.

The worst aspect of the internet is the "rush" effect. After using the internet for long periods of time, people start to just skim articles, looking for key words, glancing at a paragraph or two before moving on. People don't pause to reflect on what they've read, they don't seriously think about the text that they read and they forget what little the absorb very quickly.

Not only that, it has encouraged emotional diarrhoea. People are extremely quick to judge, lose their temper at the drop of a hat and overreact to the silliest of things. Before, people had to consider their reputation, they had to write out or enunciate their feelings somewhat carefully. Often, writing a letter gave the writer time to reflect on what he or she wrote, so that they could effectively watch what they said.

But on the internet? People just mash out a comment as quickly as possible. They don't pause to reflect on what they've written. They don't consider whether or not they are being unreasonable. The keyboard and the internet has allowed us to effectively communicate whatever emotion we feel instantly at that moment, and that's not a good thing. Human emotions are grand things, but they are also fickle and illogical. I've seen countless comments that I KNOW would not have been made if the poster had been forced to write out the message by hand first and had reflected briefly on what they wrote.

The internet is a marvellous thing - modern day scientific research wouldn't be possible without the internet - scientists use it to exchange truckloads of data efficiently and reliably. Using the internet, bioinformaticians can quickly BLAST-search a gene sequence within seconds (minutes if it's a particularly large sequence) from the comfort of their office. The Internet is undoubtedly one of the greatest inventions of all time.

But just as undoubtedly, it's greatest flaw is the "quick-quick-rush-rush", never-pause, never-reflect attitude that the internet has engendered within its users.

Oh god..

Rule 34 and smut videos/pictures.

You can't get much more horrendous than those two things on the internet. Not even creepypasta and screamers match it.. *Shudder*

As for things like "sexual perversion" - that's been around for as long as humanity has been around. They've found pornographic cave paintings. The only thing the internet has done has been to allow humans to share sexual content anonymously and easily. I'll bet my life that all the "twisted" stuff you see on the internet now was going on before, it was just a lot harder to stumble across.

As for people acting like jerks - again, the Internet is somewhat to blame. It hasn't made people nastier (again, Genghis Khan didn't have himself no dial-up, and look how he turned out! Vlad the Impaler didn't have DSL and Hitler never went to 4Chan, and look how evil they were!). But the internet is responsible for lowering the social taboos. It encourages people to vent their innermost emotions and prejudices and meanness, because there are no consequences and because it's so easy to do it. Anyone who has grown up with a keyboard can write an offensive, demeaning post within literally seconds, and the very nature of the internet encourages them to do so - "Don't reflect! Don't pause! Don't screen your own emotions and calm down! Post whatever, whenever, however. No consequences, no hassle, no trouble! Just burble whatever you feel like without consideration! And of course, as we all know, the FASTEST COMMENT WINS!"

Again, without the internet, people have to write or send things by hand. You have to take the time to craft a response, take the effort to print out or write out the message and pay money to send it. Usually (but not always), people would catch stupid thoughts before they made it to the envelop. Also, the process and cost associated with a letter meant that they wouldn't just write nonsense - they would have to feel motivated and invested in a subject enough to bother sending a letter. Also, without the internet, you'd have to talk to others. This meant that you'd have to look your opponent in the eye and hear whatever they had to say, and if you came across as looking like an idiot, it would affect your real-life reputation. On the internet, Rep doesn't exist for most of us! Unless you are famous, your identity is as fluid and meaningless as you want to be. I know of several people who have "trolling" accounts on popular forums. Whenever they got banned, they just made a new account.

The Internet has not made us any nastier, more prejudiced or sexually "perverted" (I don't like to use that term except when referring to rapists or pedophiles or those who pratice bestiality or incest. Those are the only ones who are really sick. I might not understand the "furry" crowd, but as long as what they do is consensual, I've got no problem with it. Provided it is behind closed doors where I don't have to see it). It has just removed our ability to think and reflect on what we say and write.

The worst attribute of the internet is the anonymity and thus the complete honesty. There's a reason people don't share every single thing in their lives with their friends.

By the way, the first thing is also one of the best things about the internet, and the reason why I find 4chan so excellent.

We're still working on the tech for that.
A device to stab someone in the face over the internet.

We really need to work on this.
