Indigo Prophesy. It didn't belong in the game, and it was almost impossible to do
This. When the guards would spot you, it made absolutely no sense. Plus, I still think I kind of glitched my way through that one; I couldn't really figure out the way I was supposed to do it. It was a horrible sequence in an otherwise great game.

The forced stealth section in the first KOTOR was amazing it was one of the high point of the game. Escaping of the ship with nothing but your wits was very fun.

A movie tie-in game for the original xbox, harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban. Had a fucking garbage stealth section wherein all you had to do was avoid the purple glow from visors of suits of armour (I couldn't make this shit up if I tried).

Shadows of Rome. Most of them were okay, but seriously, you go from "butt-kicking hardcore gladiator" guy to "scream like a pansy when the guards see me" scholar.
That wasnt a forced section, that game was Half stealth intentionally.
That sounds like it's forced to me. A non-forced stealth section would be where stealth is an option, but just one of many. If stealth is your only option, it's forced.

The stealth in Shadow of Rome could be damned tricky. Especially sneaking through the shop near the start of the game. I can still hear the music whenever I think of the game. Broke the game up nicely, seeing as later stages of the gladiatorial arenas were just as frustrating.

ANY game. Nobody really knows how to make stealth WORK properly. The enemies always have the eyesight of eagles and the ears of friggin' Dumbo. Take Farcry 2, for instance. It was a god-awful abortion of stealth.

You just had to use a bow to headshot the 3 bandits.
I never actually tried sneaking past them.
I know that. I played it on good/bad, melee/magic/bow side. On first time i went with magic and sword so i got stuck on it for one day (yes, one day).

We've all seen them. After a series of great and exciting battles, or a fantastic unravelling of a story, here comes the forced stealth section to ruin our fun. What is, in your mind, the absolute worst in forced stealth?

I was just playing Shenmue, which inspired me to make this thread. I just got to the bit with the Old Warehouse District. It just plain sucks. The camera isn't very good for a stealth game, the flashlight doesn't illuminate enough, and there is no discernable way to tell where your goal is. It's not fun.
You clearly have not played Predator: Concrete Jungle on PS2. So much potential.... wasted :(

MGS portable ops. You only have 1 tranquilizer gun, which you must somehow share between 4 people, any sound of a gun makes the guards come running and alert to quickly ensue, and when you capture a guard from a specific place, even if he's dressed IDENTICALLY to all the others, they still tweak you're not one of them.

So why give us the option to walk round as one of them when they can tell we're not one of them?

Also, true crime streets of LA, where you have to infiltrate that little place. If you break their necks all you get is "Bad cop" and seriously, that's what most people want.

YES!!! I HATED THAT PORTION OF THE FRIGGEN GAME!!!!!! ((sorry for the all caps)) i've just always hated that entire section of the game..the friggen hide and seek portion? friggen...i always lose 1 or 2 people..

for those of you in the US such as myself...Farenheit is called Indigo Prophecy here to keep from confusion of Farenheit 9/11...same game though minus 1 or 2 interactive sex scenes that had nothing to do with the story ((and no that game doesn't show you anything so don't even think about it....perverts))

I can't actually remember a good forced stealth section.
I agree. It always seems to suck, no matter what.
Little Big Adventure 2 had some functional stealth levels. Sure it isn't a new game, but it worked.

But I do agree most modern games suck at stealth gameplay. Developers always brag and boast about how, in their new superfantasticawesome game (now with 30% more bullettime), you can be stealthy, in stead of running and gunning. But we all know we'd rather run up to an enemy and shoot him in the face rather than sneaking up behind him and breaking his neck.

I don't know, I quite liked the ones in inFAMOUS. How to define a "forced" and "not forced" stealth section, though?
