Taking a controller out of my hands while I am trying to make progress would annoy me. It would also annoy me if someone took away a good book I was reading, because I would want to find out what would happen next.
Of course, none of your progress would be lost if someone grabbed your book.

Yeah, this is one silly man.

Well, after hearing David Jaffe's latest statement about how games should be snortable in order to avoid loading times, eh, I'm not sure anymore.

Why do these idiots keep popping up? Can't they go annoy another medium for a while?
I wish they would find something else to blame all the other problems of society on, but video games are a punching bag for society. Hopefully, to quote Extra Credits, video games can be seen as a gateway to a new, interesting form of interactive entertainment, but right now, they're nothing more than a punching bag for moral guardians.

Comparing cocaine to video games is like comparing waffles to a potato, not even close.
Ummm

Seriously though, its amazing what rubbish comes out on the radio...
I get the point, but I meant putting the two next to each other and asked to compare them. Not the most brilliant analogy I've ever made, but it's all I got at the moment.

I look forward to the future as it will be in 20 years because by then video games will have become a mainstream form of entertainment and I'll stop hearing crap like this.

I did once.

I don't think I would react like an alcoholic to having the controller snatched out of my hands. Alcoholics are violent and unpredictable. I've had a controller knocked out of my hands and all I want to be is sardonic.

*controller gets snatched* "So... I'm guessing you want something?"

Seriously, only those really spoiled kids whose parents pay for their WoW subscription get that dramatic when they are told to shut down the game and, even then, that's still the parents' fault for paying for WoW in the first place.

"You should see it, its scary" If you went up to me and took my pen as I was drawing I think I'd have the same reaction as if you took a controller away. Does that mean I'm getting a cocaine high off of it too? Is drawing another silent killer? lol

Oh holy god, everything is cocaine! War on drugs is everywhere! Given my posession of steam and several "AAA-grade" games, I expect the DEA to be kicking in the door any minu

I've lost probably a lot more if not as much sleep to gaming as I have to reading good books. I also have to agree with all of the other examples provided about things being suddenly removed from my hand. There's better ways to deal with that stuff.

He be trollin'

But seriously, the problem isn't that this guys is either a blatant idiot, or a real life troll, it's that people will LISTEN to him. I guarantee that some parents out there tried what he asked and took the controller from their kids. Dependant on age I assume, those kids probably got pretty pissed.

You hear so often of these crackpots stepping up to the world stage and making outrageous claims like, Video Games are like doing lines of Cocaine, or Bulletstorm will make you a Rapist. But there is rarely debate on a mass media level, just slander. Games need a better voice then the internet, there needs to be a counter-call from a mass media level, some level of education against this kind of moral tripe. I think Publishers, the ESA, and various other groups need to stop being reactionary in their dealings with these people. Do you think a true voice of the gamer's side will rebuke this anywhere other then the internet? Probably not, but I think someone that people will respect, and will listen to, needs to rebuke these claims! A poster boy for gaming, an expert on our side. So that people can actually hear this other side of the debate.

Challenge these people who make these claims in a civil manor on a mass media level. Make them come to call for what they say and beat their argument, that is how we are finally going to show people with these ridiculous claims that they are wrong.
