Things that annoy you while playing online

People who shout insults at each other. I'm a PC gamer and this trick works pretty well for stopping it: "Dude, keep it civil. This isn't Halo." Nothing is quite as much fun as shaming them. I doubt it would work on XBL however.

Idiots who seem to think that TF2 is a deathmatch game. You need to pay attention to your team's needs, not what you feel like playing at the moment. Medic and engineer are my 2nd and 3rd most played class because I'm more interested in helping my team (read: winning. Everyone likes winning right?) than playing pyro all game.

Also, soldier is NOT overpowered. Soldier is versitile, yes. But its NEVER the best choice for a task unless it requires rocketjumping. Soldiers also have no lasting power in a firefight: a long fight leaves them damn near helpless as both their weapons perpetually empty.

... Someone after my own heart. Seriously though, couldn't agree more. The combination of anonymity and a microphone turn 99% of all online gamers into blithering idiots. Thank God for the most wonderful addition to any online game, the "mute" option.

Amusingly enough, the statistical likelihood of a Yank being illiterate IS much higher than a Limey's or a Frog's or someone from just about any other country in Europe. Curse my country's awful public schools.

-Clan admins who kick you out of their server for rocking them hard (happened a lot when I played with (OC) in BF2)
-Almost the entirety of the xbox live population (though I should have known from their terrible taste in games). I've noticed that once you pass a couple hundred "gamerpoints", the relationship between intelligence and gamerpoints on XBL becomes an inverse one. Basically, as gamerpoints goes up, intelligence goes down.
-Music played over mics. STOP DOING IT FFS. I've banned dozens of people on my Garry's Mod server for that, despite warning them both in the MOTD and before I ban them.
-Trash talking gangstas. If a black man refers to himself or other blacks as "nigga", I lose all respect for him.
-Being teabagged for no reason: this one is a special case. If you have been rocking a guy hard all game and he gets a kill, fine, teabag away friend. If you see someone teabag another douche who has been swearing/spamming/playing music over his mic, fine, he earned it. But don't teabag everyone.
-1337 speak. Guys, that was designed way back in the 90's so people like me could trade hacked programs over the BBS systems and get around their filters. It has no place in modern gaming, ESPECIALLY if you weren't there when it happened.

Ok, back again. Let's put some more on the list.

6) txt/1337 speak. "Are you" takes only marginally longer to write than "R U". txt-speak makes you look lazy and - above all - it makes you look like a pre-teen thumbing your cell phone. Use proper language.

7) Kids.

This warrants explanation. In this particular context, being a "kid" has nothing to do with age. It is all about maturity. I have seen 13-year olds that act with more maturity online than some 30-year olds. Always remember that while being online, your actions speaks for you. A mature kid you never notice online because they don't make fools of themselves.

If you don't want to be called a kid, you had better wise up and start acting your age. If you have been called "kid", the last thing you want to do is flash me your driver's license and start yelling "Hey! I'm not a kid, I'm 25!" because quite frankly the only thing you're doing is adding another rock to your already heavy burden of humiliation.

This one applies mainly to TF2 but to any game that hasn't got all its bugs worked out. Idiots who instead of doing something useful are spending their time making a bloody tower to nowhere with sentries. Personally I really hate people who use glitches to win (sky walking in this case) but please people if your going to be an immoral duouchebag and cheat at least do it right! Oh and people who are unwilling to let you make a mistake, then flag you as n00b for the rest of your life.

The only thing that annoys me is having bad team mates (in the sense that they are horrible at the game). I don't mind one or two bad players, but when you're stuck on a whole team of people that just suck... Unfortunately, this happens to me often.
