People who loop music.
People who feel the need to tell you their lifestory in the middle of the game.
People who go on any server that isn't in their native tongue and scream about how no one speaks their langue.
People who harrass me because I'm female (mostly happens in free games. (GUNZ, you know who you are!))
:D

I must say it is much easier to get the deserved amount of appreciation and respect at a place like this than on an online game. If only the masses of internet gaming could take a few leaves out of the forum-goer's book, we'd all be much happier. Thanks everybody. And its extremely nice to see a few other people around my age posting on this forum just like any other member without any sense of awkwardness behind anyone's words. This is a damn good community.

EDIT: Also, to keep this post on topic, another thing that annoys me about online gaming is low levelled people in MMOs asking for money. Some games are a lot harsher to new characters than others in terms of currency, but just because you're too lazy to kill something and sell its droppings, you don't have the right to turn a virtual world into a beggar's slum.

EDIT 2: And I had to post that after someone else posted the exact same thing. Whoops.

Beggars in an MMORPG.

Being made fun of for not knowing OMG everything before I log in for the first time.

Any game where voicechat is a feature needed to coordinate properly. (I have a high voice and often get the "What are you, Gay/Thirteen?" Remarks.)

People who believe they're lord and master of any group they take part in. They got a plan, and why aren't you following it? I don't have to tell you it, just ***** you out when you don't do it!

And lastly, people who expect me to play MY character THEIR way. What good is an open-ended game played by someone else's standards? Becomes more like work.

This one is for ANY MMORPG player...

GANKERS! Usually a stealthy, overpowered class like Rogue... Those filthy n00bz...

Also drone spammers in the Frontlines: Fuel of War demo... I dread that buzzing noise...

Well, I abhor the term 'noob'. I always assume that anyone using 'noob' as in insult in an online game is a tosspot.

Somewhat related: people who criticise their team / other players despite their obvious lack of ability. Everybody has to learn, not everybody can be good, but the guy who's cussing out his team for being shit when he has 0 : 13 should either move out of his glass house or stop throwing stones.

Another vote for people eating their microphones, or doing a Darth Vader (although for me this will invariably be somebody I know, so we all just hurl abuse at them).

People who don't even attempt to learn the basic mechanics / controls of the game. "How do I deploy my MG?" is fine. "How do I crouch?" tends to set my teeth on edge...

Finally, a very special kind of stupidity, that I have seen many times. People who join a server and are instantly and overly abusive, not noticing that they are on the **** Clan server, and almost EVERY OTHER PLAYER on the server is wearing a **** tag. In our case there have been times in the past when a player has attempted to abuse a full server with a dozen admins playing. You've never seen the ban stick wielded so fast.

Campers (esp. in COD4 and Halo 3))
Man, nowadays I think of CoD4 campers as "targets". if you know where they are (and thanks to the killcam, you ALWAYS know where they are) then you can sneak up and kill them.

having that perk that makes me invisible to the UAV is a massive help when it comes to sneaking up on people and stabbing them. I once called in a UAV from three kills that I got with my freaking knife and nothing else. That ruled.

People who constantly breath heavily into the mic. Stop it. Please, the game requires coordinated team work to play and I can't have a conversation with a the online equivalent of a phone pervert.

People who intentionally team kill for no reason. And the ones that team kill because they want to use the vehicle thats about to re-spawn, r the weapon you just picked up. Yes I'm holding the only sniper rifle, no you can't have it by shooting at me. Ask nicely and I may give it to you.

Anyone who shouts abuse for no real reason regardless of age. What the hell is it with some countries and anti-semitic and homophobic comments. I have one countries idiots in mind here, I think we can all guess which one. But anyone doing this is just a stain on the gene pool.

And why the hell are you shooting the Claymore I just laid you idiot?!

And what is it with people moaning about campers in COD4? Am I not understanding the word properly? Because I thought in war hiding in cover and shooting your enemy unseen instead of running at them headlong guns blazing (i.e HALO style) was a good idea. Especially if your sniping. You can't exactly run around with a sniper rifle and hit accurately.

true, but that doesn't mean you should stick in one place, either, especially in a game like CoD4. "Camping" in the CoD4 sense means the guys who've found a "sweet spot" they like and go back there time and time again. the best tactic is to find a spot, get one or two kills from there, then move on to a different spot so they can't figure out where you are.

I found the exact same thing happening in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Some players just love to snipe from one particular spot. I got a LOT of promotions playing as Covops/Infiltrator and just sniping the idiots who went straight back to the same place every time I killed them.

I, meanwhile, had moved on, so when they set up in their old spot and aimed at where my last shot had come from, I was in a completely different part of the map, which they weren't aiming at.

firstly, I actually enjoy being accused of being a haxxor in a CoD4 match, it's just about the biggest complement any of those morons can come up with...

That aside, i find that the most annoying thing is people who use aimbots, it's really because they kill me exceptionally much, but I find tat I can't understand them. If you start using an aimbot or any other auto-aiming devise, how is the game challenging anymore? How can it possibly be fun anymore?

also, see above posts about children, and 'leet' players with their heads up their asses.

1. People who hear my voice and do one of two things, or both. One, they begin to immediately call me a British (insert homophobic/racist "insult" here), despite the fact I am actually AUSSIE. Or two, assume I am your average young, early-teen gamer. Yes, I am 13, and no, I am not making that up.
I have that same problem, always from fucking yanks.

Which brings me to the thing i hate the most: Playing against international gamers when there are perfectly good local ones who don't lag all over the place.

Four things for me.

1. People who think 10-15 year old boy gamers are all a bunch of useless immature idiots with no life. True, most of them ARE useless immature idiots with no life and I agree with all of your posts as I hate them too. However, I'm 13 and unlike the majority of my peers I was born with the gift of a functioning brain. There are a few others like myself, though not enough to get noticed very often. I just hate it when older people shun me the instant I mention my age without giving me the chance to prove myself. And even if I do prove myself, the instant they realise I'm technically a child everything gets awkward.

2. 10-15 year old male gamers who are nothing but a bunch of useless immature idiots with no life.

3. People with poor sportsmanship. (which sounds odd in the gaming context. Shouldn't we call it gamesmanship?)

4. Text talk. Now I understand if you're in the middle of a heated battle and can only type 'w8 a min' but if everything is calm and quiet you can at least learn how to communicate without using a demented form of code.

Also, whoever this Swift person is, I highly suggest he stop making odd posts which have nothing to do with the topic in question and only offer useless links and I humbly request that he bugger off.
Well said sir. I wish I could put a 18+ filter on my XBox 360. I'm sure there are some cool kids out there, but there are so many kids that suck, I really don't want to put up with it.

That tells us nothing, mate. What specific bit? The lag? other players? What?

At the moment, your post just isn't constructive. If you're going to say something like that, please provide an explanation.

The biggest annoyance online for me - aside for my atrociously bad typing - are:

1) People who act like pricks just because they think it's funny to be annoying. Gankers jumping me while I'm obviously questing. People spouting nonsense on the voice chat. People spamming the chat channel.

2) Anyone using the word "n00b" as an insult. That whole word merely reflects back on the speakr and says to everyone "I'm an immature, ignorant little fool who cannot even form a rational argument as to why I don't like you. I know for certain that I am right and you are wrong, but I don't know why. Also I have a poor vocabulary and don't know any other insults."

3) Anyone using the "I am bettar than u so STFU" argument. Oh a ?-cent for every idiot that has pulled the silly old "Hey, I have three lvl 70 chars so I know what I'm talking about!" waste of breath... I would be rich.

4) Anyone thinking that playing badly is OK just as long as you finaly succeed. "Wow, we made it through the dungeon! We are so 1337!". "Yeah... with 314 deaths in the team and 17 hours spent". "So what?! We made it!". Have some pride people! Not even hookers are prepared to sell out for 10 bucks just because it's income and you can grind yerself to the goal.

5) People not focused on the task and ignoring the team just to obtain their personal goals.

I'll be back with more later...

Immature pricks that doesn't give a crap about teams and think that everyone above them on the scoreboard is a cheater.
Getting killed by the same person over and over again is annoying, I know that from experience, but it's not necessary to throw insults and cheat accusations in all directions.
Finally, said people are often in my age group, I'm 16, and as a result of this I rarely spit out my age everywhere for obvious reasons.

1. People who get defensive and throw a tantrum if I try to offer advice.
2. People who can't drive yet INSIST on doing so.
3. As mentioned, anyone who instantly insults anyone who sounds British (who are usually 10x more mature than any of them) making me ashamed to be an American.
4. People who don't have the decency to apologize for friendly fire. Especially those who instead complain that I got in their way.

The insolent little prick that thinks because he leads the scoreboard with 25 kills (and 50 deaths)that he can run into a room in an FPS and take out all eight members of the other team. Then there is that guy you all know him everyone else uses a brilliant strategy and then one guy gets a rambo complex and rushes in to die and loses the game for you.
