Things that piss you off in games

We all have these little (or big) things in games that piss us off i don't know regenerating health, little kids screaming (or fapping) into their microphones. So escapists, what are the things that put you in a terrible mood in games or in a game in particular ?

I'll start, recently, i bought Street Fighter 3rd Strike on XBLA because it is the only Street Fighter that i generally like and i wanted to play on my Xbox 360 and fight other people online. It's been 3 days and i already want to rip every single hair out of my head. Why the fuck does in every single fighting game, people play with cheap tactics ? I am not kidding when i say that out of 10 fights, at least 8 picked Ken as a character, because he is so fucking easy to control. Everything from spamming the sweep kick to running towards me and swinging me around just like a goddamn ragdoll. I mean, when did we just lose the fun of just playing and getting good at a fighting game to just using the same tactics just to move up the ranks...i mean, where's the fun in that ? I am able to win some fights though, but it's just so fucking frustrating.

Is the King of Fighter community better online ? Or is it as fucking shitty as the capcom fighting game community ?

When a character you actually like does something so totally out of character that it ruins your perception of said character. (I.E. L.A. Noire)

I'll just go with the obvious stuff and say unskippable cutscenes, lack of quicksave and poorly placed checkpoints,

Daniel Craig's face in Goldeneye.

Games that can't seem to !@#$%?&%$# end. END ALREADY! GTA 4 and Far Cry 2, I'm still pissed off.

Missables. I'm a bit anal about completing games 100 percent, but if there is some missable item/achievement/whatever that require me to play through the entire game again I get rather irritated.

"Oh no! There's a door your character can't open! We have to take a five mile trek around this locked wooden door when we could just as easily use the gravity gun to pick up a rock and smash it!"

losing sight of the overall goal. Most role playing games have this problem, I get interested at the beginning, then faff about for so long that I can't remember the overall goal, then I get bored and leave.

Stealth games where it's 10x faster to just go charging in guns blazing than just to sneak around. Also when you are so close at completing your sneaking mission then some random NPC spots your and you have to start all over agian.

When the game doesn't play smarter at higher difficulty levels - it just cheats. Civ, for example. Play on a harder level? The computer accrues wealth, military units, and technology all at a rate accelerated 300% beyond what you can accomplish. Blood Bowl? The dice are loaded against you.

I prefer games that become more difficult by upping constants; like the mods on Fallout where you can up the strength of weapons to realistic levels.

Goddamn, even the shitty little motel in Novac becomes freakin' awesome when you have to actually use cover, duck out and pump two shotgun loads down the hall, duck back as return fire clips the walls around you, then you whip out a stick of dynamite and lob it down the hall.

And it's all the more awesome because if any of those bullets hit, you're likely to lose function of that limb, and a headshot is either gonna outright kill you or send the screen all distorted as you get concussed. Awesomeness!

First, the obvious problem: Escort missions. With notable exception, they are bad.

What I really hate are bad physics fails. Put simply, here is a universe that operates by certain rules. When it goes tits up, it's either funny or frustrating. Funny ones, I don't care. They're funny. If I'm doing something that works with trajectory or something and it does something completely ass wrong when it shouldn't have, that's a failure in the game.

As was already mentioned, unskippable cutscenes are just the worst! They are especially frustrating when you are replaying a game. Believe me, I understand you want your story to be seen, but is it such a burden on your creative ego to know that your audience has the ability to keep moving forward if they don't want to watch every single scene you put into your game? Grr.

Conker's Bad Fur Day worked around this by making them unskippable the first time you see them. If you die or replay the mission they became skippable. A much better system then most games have

This one shows up quite often in open world MMOs...

Quest Giver: Go and kill this Boss. He is on the third level of the Ziggurat of holyshittheresalotofenemiesuphere.
Me: Okay.

One hour of hacking my way through the Zohstaloeuh later...

Me: He's dead. Here's his head.
Quest Giver: Well done, brave warrior. But now you must kill HIS Boss. He is on the fourth level of the Ziggurat. Oh, and all the mobs you killed first time have respawned now.

[sub]Bonus points if the second Boss is standing so close to the first you killed him on the first trip anyway, but got no credit for it so now you have to do it all again.[/sub]

...

This sort of thing is one annoyance that WoW's Cataclysm revamp almost fixed. I say almost because there's one perfect example of it still in the Hinterlands - a series of quests that sent me up and down the same multilevel troll city four or five freaking times. If the game wasn't so easy these days I'd have been there for a week.

It's this thread again. Thank God ! :)

- protagonist unable to pass 30 cm high barricade or climb the fence
- 3 pixels thick door opened with keycard/lever/button installed in the distant area of map
- save points/lack of quick save option
- evil choices = stupid choices (c'mon !)
- poor voice acting (Amnesia, i'm looking at you)
- plenty of wonderful, joinable characters and followers cap
- "you have to do it our way, even if the logic suggest something else"

A game with online multiplayer being refered to as "a multiplayer game." A multiplayer game means I can sit with my friends in my living room and play a video game with my friends. A multiplayer game which forces me online into the asshat wilderness of online gaming isn't "multiplayer." It's crap.
