I was cursed with being a clever child, so I didn't get to believe in any of the typical childhood myths, because I figured out they were all my parents. However my parents weren't aware of this, and I played along until they eventually clued in (many years later) and stopped giving me treats.

what I used to believe in, but not anymore, is that people are good and kind and care about eachother.

How naieve.

its funny, most people stopped believing in mystical things, I'm sort of the opposite. I've stopped believing in rationality and science.

Well, maybe some of us LIKE suicidal angst. DID YOU EVER THINK OF THAT?!

OT: I was talking more about the Hell and Noah's ark and Adam and Eve things, not the important points.

I believed in Santa for quite a while, and the easter bunny, same as most kids.
Now I believe in the sock gnomes, think about it, how many odd socks do you have? Where did the matching socks go?
And the pen gnomes, at the cinema where I work pens seem to evaporate if you put them down for even a second, a case of someone else taking the pen? I think not, somewhere those gnomes are living it up, sleeping cuddled up in my socks and surrounded by my pens!
hun..i think its washing machines that just lose socks ~pats on head~ ^_^;;; and i'm just lazy when it comes to bundling up socks lol
The gnomes hide in the washing machine sometimes, then when you open it and the laundry tumbles out, they scurry off with a few socks.

I used to believe in the usual childhood mythical creatures. Then I found out the tooth fairy wasn't real by opening up my mom's jewelry box and seeing all of my baby teeth. It was very creepy and once I ceased to believe the tooth fairy, then everything else sort of followed suit. And to think it happened only four days ago too . . .

I had a brief time thinking that Karma was real, but I called bullshit on it because of how shitty my life is for no reason I can think of.

Monsters in the dark. My life as a 6 year old was crushed. I wanted something to be there. Oh well. Can't have everything.

Same here. I used to think that the ability for humans to think abstract thoughts was so amazing that it proved God just had to exist.

Now I think it could go either way - either there is a God, or there isn't. We have no way of knowing (until, maybe, after we die.)
