Same here. I used to think that the ability for humans to think abstract thoughts was so amazing that it proved God just had to exist.

Now I think it could go either way - either there is a God, or there isn't. We have no way of knowing (until, maybe, after we die.)
After studying biology for a few years I can spoil it for you.... There is no god or any supernatural power governing anything even remotely to us, have a nice day :)

I used to believe I could make a video game... But with a C-D Average in Math, that dream kind of died...

Wow looks like you lot are a bunch of hethens!
I am as well though.

I used to be mad for the muppets and my parents used to tell me they existed. You can imagine my sudden discontent when I never found any felt puppets to converse with. LOL

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Except that I do beleive that god exist, but he isn't the the boyscout we all thought he was ( and no, I'm not a satanist, I'm a Christan)

This may sound melodramatic, but I used to believe that I was one of a kind, which, biologically, I might be, but it was (and still is) a sad realization that pretty much every thought I've ever had, and everything I've ever said has already been thought of/said by someone else, and probably been said/thought better, or with more substance.
Also, I used to believe in Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, God, etc, etc. All those silly kids fantasies.

I used to believe in science in an idealistic sort of way. Then I actually worked as a scientist, and discovered that it is not what non-scientists like to think it is. Science is not Truth. Science is Data. What you do with those Data is not science.

A lot of people act like Science will tell us how we should live--for example, people on both sides of the Global Warming debate point to science to justify their opinions. That is very, very stupid. Science will never tell you how you should respond to Global Warming, whether humans are the cause of it, how much CO2 we can release without screwing things up, or whether or not we should sign certain treaties in regards to greenhouse gas emissions. All that stuff is outside of science. Anyone who says something to the effect of "Science says so!" is spouting nonsense. And just because practitioners of science say something doesn't make it so--scientists are people just like anyone else, and will use whatever credability they can get to advance whatever agenda they subscribe to.

There is nothing idealistic about science, and that is what makes it useful. Some people will get very poetic about it, and some people will talk about science with as much zeal as preachers use to deliver their sermons. Don't be fooled! Science is what it is. To answer in a truly scientific fashion, science is not Truth. Science is not Lies. Well, what IS science? INCONCLUSIVE.

I hope you didn't stop believing in the Christian concepts that everybody should believe in, love your enemies as you love your friends, turn the other cheek, the importance of charity, judge not, lest ye be judged, etc. You know, the things a lot of people who call themselves Christians tend not to do.

I was raised Catholic and have since stopped believing in the Catholic view of who and what god is, but I haven't stopped believing that there is something or someone else that one could call a god, I just believe the nature of whoever or whatever that may be is beyond the capabilities of human understanding, and that things such as the laws of physics are proof of there being something else.

I mostly meant the superstitious parts, yes.

God too. I tried, I tried for twelve years, but it never worked out. If I ever once asked a question out of line I was shouted at for blasphemy. What I want is to know the actual religion, not go to ANOTHER youth organization or fundraiser or you name it. My church was less focused on the religion and more on turning us into a non-profit organization.
Yeah it saddens me that Christian institutions have started becoming nothing more than a business organization.

If you want to learn about the "Real" Christian religion than you need to search for it on your own without help from the corruption of the church.
