Dear Everyone,

I was actually enjoying my trial last night. The set pieces are pretty fantastic looking and was the void I needed to have filled. However, the gameplay is.boring.as.hell. It really is just a click marathon.

Does that change once you level up or should I try a new class? (current class = Night Elf Warrior)

You guys are ridiculous.

I suggest trying it, if you have any self control at all you stop when you want or need to.
And WoW isn't actually a bad game, it is quite balanced and fun.

The only thing that changes is you get more things and/or different things to click on. Also, the game doesn't start until max level. The last time I went from level one to level max was in Wrath. It took me almost two months of playing a couple of hours every day to do this. After that I decided taking almost two months to start anything in a video game is unacceptable and I stopped playing.

Yeah, I've been thinking of trying it too. I've had this 14-day free trial CD in my possession for years, but never bothered to use it.

Have no social life to lose, so problem there.

i found it a wonderful time filler. if you lead a busy life, i strongly suggest you do not play, but if you have the time, WoW is a fantastic game.

the social aspect (with friends) is pretty awesome, and i had a lot of fun while i played.

i offer one piece of advice, be a mouse turner, and a keyboard user for the action bar. DO NOT BE A CLICKER! otherwise, have fun ^-^

edit: yeah the gameplay does get better, but that does come with higher levels. i suggest playing up to around level 20 to get a feel of your favourite class (took me 4 attempts before i settled, undead warlock). i found a huge improvement at endgame content, and endgame PVP. also doing dungeons etc with your friends and the such is pretty damn fun.

I have a fiancé and a child. I have no more life. :p
But you still have their respect. Hours of sitting down and pretending to be an elf is going to change that quite rapidly.

The fuck is wrong with you people, do none of you have any self control? All this nonsensne about starting and then not being to stop is such bullshit. Try it out, if you like it, keep playing, if you don't, no harm done, it was a free trial.

It gets more interesting once you level up a bit.

You won't get an even remotely decent feel of a class's overall spell synergy until you hit around lvl 50ish, where you have more than a few buttons to push and you have to start chaining properly.

The above statement of the game not starting until the level cap is true though - 1 to 85 is basically a long tutorial.

When I played wow, I played it on a regular basis and had to take a few weeks "breaks" once in a while.
I think that speaks volumes of the game.

I spent about 3 or 4 months leveling up my Blood Elf Pally to 85 and the entire time I was daydreaming about how awesome being a maxed out level would be while enduring the same repetative quests one after the other. I mean really, a developer couldn't be sadistic/moronic enough to include even MORE grinding after you reached the maximum level right? In the end, after I got to 85, I realized that I was going to have to grind some more in order to be viable in PVP. You starting with greens and blues while facing off against people with much better PVP equipment than your fresh scrub ass (ie, you'll get raped a lot; no don't kid yourself into thinking that's fun). Oh, and because everyone realized that pub Horde > pub Alliance, the Horde has many more players in the queue for battlegrounds and as a result has 40 minute (no, I'm actually not exagurating) wait times because the Alliance doesn't want to queue.

Fuck.

That.

This will change as you realize that clicking will not cut it in dungeons. You can bind everything to the keyboard... And you'll quickly find you want to as well.

I'd say if you want some interesting gameplay early on, Warrior is not exactly going to enthrall you... But if you stick with it they're very very reliable class to have around in all 3 of their talent specs.

No, at least not until you fight a boss that requires you to move around a little or unless you're into PVP which (once again) just so happens to suck in this game.

You get more buttons as you go along.

My personal favourite is feral druid (Basically, you play a cat, and all your attacks are things panthers can do) <- And it requires the most attention to do the best damage.

Doesn't hurt to try it. If your friend is paying, then why the hell not? If it's not your cup of tea, you can simply stop.

Also, don't buy the battlechest. You won't need an expansion before you get around level 58, unless you absolutely want to make your character a blood elf, draenei, goblin or a worgen. Or want to make a death knight in which case you won't need an expansion before you leave lvl 55.

I'm a former wow player, quit couple months ago. Been a semi-hardcore raider for the last few expansions. The end-game content is fun enough but I've lost interest for now.

Someone convince me in or out of this.
Let me tell you what will happen:

You will play wow for a while and think "OMG this is pretty good"

However, when you reach the top level (unless you are one of those fanatics who play for hours and hours every day) you will get rapidly bored of the endgame content as it requires a major time commitment.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it's quite unlikely that your enjoyment of it will survive past the first playthrough.

Beware; this game is a time sinkhole, and unless you feed it many, many hours it will begin to drain the fun out of itself instead.

P.S: If somebody tells you just to make another character, bare in mind that, after the first hour, you will be replaying the exact same game again. But, hey, you might find sufficient fun in a different character class to pull you through a second time.

I didn't, but then that's just me.

yes its as addictive, and hey drugs are addictive, but to be fair, wow is less expensive. A nice healthy heroin addiction can cost way more than the wow subscription fee.

I actually bought the expansion for 10? so was thinking of plowing through the remade world at sometime. That's a movie ticket price for 1 month of gametime so. Hopefully I don't start renewing my account.
