well i was 2 going on 3 in 1988 so i wouldn't have been playing video games so no its not a good test. well only for old old old people but they are just crochety and old so they dont matter

i think a better test would be do they say they are a gamer? have they ever played any video game? if yes to both then they are a gamer

How about these?
Corwin of Amber
ABBAABBA

At least, that's what I remember those cheats to be.
Are you thinking of Gabbagabbahey from Descent? I'm also certain that i recognize Corwin of Amber, but not sure where it's from. Maybe Warcraft?
Warcraft (2) is correct. The other one is from a Genesis game.

Wait a minute, that's not the Konami Code!

*double-checks the internet to make sure I'm not talking out my ass*
...

Yeah, it isn't. Incidentally, isn't there some website where you can input the Konami Code and something will happen? Can't remember where or what, but I DO remember hearing something about that.

Also, there is no cow level.

The Konami Code, just jumbled up.
And I didn't even need to be born in 1988 to know that that, I just needed to know a little gaming history.
Now this, this is the true gamer test:
LMAO he mentioned Act Raiser 2 and the answer was awesomely hillarious. (And I was right)

Anyone remember '32167'? Hint - it was a PC strategy game.

Also, shame on the OP for getting the Konami code wrong.

I was born in 1987, but I do know quite well what the Konami code is.

And I didn't even own consoles back then until very late with the Gameboy and Sega Mega Drive II then jumped to PC.

At first glance i thought "konami code", but I only know this because this one is now fairly known. I never had a nes or played contra.

If anyone knows where "32767" is used in a game where the protagonist hits a nuke button at the end of a level, you'll be my hero. I used this quite a lot back in my younger days.

What does this mean to you?
It means the manliest bro shake of all time, that's what it is.

But it's in a bunch of games. The MGS Konami bro shake is just the best use ever.

Is that the input for Guile's super?

The first cheat code I remember using was 19, 65, 9, 17 (selecting tracks in a sound test) followed by 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04, 01, 02, 06 .
Sonic 2, right!?

OK, let's see if anybody recognises these:

- DOUBLEDUCK, ONEFATLADY, LOVELYLEGS

- UP, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, Hold A, press Start

- Set a stat to 00, wait for it to change into the infinity symbol

By Harry, that looks like the fabled Konami code! I absolutely loved cheat codes back in the day; anyone in class who knew 'em had the undying respect of all their googly-eyed peers.

How 'bout these, me ol' son? Anyone who can name me the respective games gets some funky shit:

1. "BIGHUGMUG", "VIVALAHELVIG".

2. "ATM OF EREBUS", "TROJAN HORSE FOR SALE", "JUNK FOOD NIGHT".

3. "BEWAREOBLIVIONISATHAND".

Number 2 is for GTA: San Andreas and gives you infinite health...except against fire and explosions, I think. Number 4 is for GTA: Vice City and makes your wanted level disappear. Number 5 is definitely for The Sims 2 and should give you 100,000 simoleons, IIRC.

Lets see if anyone gets this one! I almost find it depressing that I remember these by heart to this day. I don't even have to think about it, it's just muscle memory ><

R2+Right, R2+Left, R2+Right, R2+Left, R1+Down, R1+Up, Turn around three times, Square+Down, Circle.

R2, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up

Those are the codes I remember off the top of my head in order to get the codes right you have to get the game and the effect correct.

I did own a Contra for the ZX Spectrum, not sure if the Konami code worked or not.
No you didn't - it wasn't called Contra on the Spectrum (we called it Gryzor, because reasons).

I'm trying to think of classically memorable codes from the Speccy days, but I'm not getting much further than "jing it baby". I had the wrong version of the game for 6031769 to work.

The joke in this one was completely lost on us Brits, sadly, because there wasn't ever a band called MegaDrive with an album called Abacab...

You correct. If you play games than your a real gamer. The true gamer thing was just to get people's panties in a bunch and get more responses.I was playing a game last night and for some reason that popped in my head and I could not believed I remembered it and just wanted to see who else remembered it.

It means 30 extra lives. Or 10 if you're playing Super C.

Anyone here know why the big head codes so popular in the N64 era aren't used any more? Breaks suspension of disbelief (snort)?
