This is a true gamer test if you were playing video games since at least 1988.

Question 2: What is the noclip cheat code for DOOM 1 and what does it mean?
IDSPISPOPD

Noclip allows you to pass through any environment in the game, removes environmental damage from lava and hellslime and adds the ability to move up and down using pgp and pgdn if I remember right.

What it DOESN'T do is prevent projectiles and attacks hurting you.

EDIT: Oh typical, we typed our replies simultaneously.

Yep, it was Starcraft. Added 1,000 minerals and 1,000 gas to your pool.
Best Starcraft cheat code was (I think) in Brood War. entering 'radio free zerg' got you a special audio track of the overmind laying down some beats.

Number 2 is for GTA: San Andreas and gives you infinite health...except against fire and explosions, I think. Number 4 is for GTA: Vice City and makes your wanted level disappear. Number 5 is definitely for The Sims 2 and should give you 100,000 simoleons, IIRC.

I'm not entirely sure on this one, but I think that's the one to skip levels in the PC version of the original Tomb Raider. Or possibly make Lara explode. I think they reversed the spin in the second Tomb Raider or something to keep you on your toes.
In the first one it's the code to skip levels. In the second one it makes Lara explode. Not sure how you skip levels in the second one. Not sure they even had a code for skipping levels.

My favourite is still this PS1 classic:

Triangle Triangle Triangle Triangle X Square Triangle Triangle Triangle Triangle Square X Triangle Circle Triangle Triangle Triangle Circle Square Triangle X X X X

It is coming up to almost ten years ago since I last played that game, and somehow I still have it engraved in memory.

To me, it means it's time to sound the POSER ALARM.

Because that's not even the Konami Code.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand I just noticed it. Seeing it now though... That's just sad. Typo perhaps...?

I assume you're trying to reference the Konami Code, albeit incorrectly. Some variation of it was put into every Konami game made during the NES era and part of the SNES era.

Lets see if anyone gets this one! I almost find it depressing that I remember these by heart to this day. I don't even have to think about it, it's just muscle memory ><

R2+Right, R2+Left, R2+Right, R2+Left, R1+Down, R1+Up, Turn around three times, Square+Down, Circle.

R2, R2, L1, R2, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up
I wanna say Tomb Raider because I remember having to be on a flat surface for the turning bit to work, and even then, it was a pain.

And the second one is from GTA III, but I can't remember if it was the tank spawning one or not.

OT: CLAPPEDOUT is stuck in my head even though it's not from a great game.

SPINACH

I think LIONHEAD made one of the Rogue Squadron games black and white.

Also surprised at the absence of the 8uuuuuuuuuuuu code.

Whoever said JUSTIN BAILEY, that would be one of the Metroids.

That's Crash Bandicoot 1's code for a completed game right?

Approximately fuck all because that is not the Konami code.

Remember this one 007 373 5963 from around the same time period.
I had to look that one up, but it's the password to fight Mike Tyson in Punch Out, which I did not own as a kid.

You're 1 for 2 Skippy. Wanna try another one and piss even more people off by trying to be an old-school poser? Or we could turn the tables and try to stump you:

Question 1: What does the code ABYXABYXABABYXXYABYX do and what game does it work on?

Question 2: What is the noclip cheat code for DOOM 1 and what does it mean?

Question 3: What is "The Pretzel" and what function does it serve?
I still find myself unconsciously entering the debug mode cheat for Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back (dunno if it worked with the other games, I never played them) when I'm sitting at a loading screen with a controller in my hand. Never would have finished that game as a kid without that code. And I'm gonna guess that noclip in DOOM is the same as in other games and lets you clip through the environment. I have no idea what "The Pretzel" is.

In response to the opening poster, titles like "true gamer" aren't decided by arbitrary metrics. I can say that my first system was the Atari 2600, but that doesn't actually mean anything.

And for fun since other people have done it: NTHGTHDGDCRTDTRK.

Oh! I know this one!
It's more than just a cheat... But, a strategy tactic to the game at large... Use it well and victory will come to those still skilled enough to survive til the very end...

(Was actually born in 1992... So, there's that...)

What else does Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A Start indicate? That you were an only child/lone gamer child. Because stuck in my memory coming from a household with 3 brothers it was Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A SELECT Start, which gives you the 30 man code in two player mode.

Kind of a silly topic though, since pretty much everyone knows that code regardless of age, and any gamer kid that doesn't will know it before long.

You mean the most popular cheat code in the world? You could have started gaming in 2013 and know the answer to this. It's the Contra code for 30 lives and the Select part makes it 2 player.
