I just received my GI (GameInformer) magazine,(I get them for free because I bought one of those Gamestop cards) and I stumbled upon the Killzone 2 article. I started casually reading when i looked at the title which stated the there is a PC and Xbox version. I recently scoured the internet and the only sources that said Resistance is a multi-port game sounded like the wishes of fanboys.

Must be a typo but its odd none the less.

I found the first one rather drab and dull, I don't expect the second one to make me change my mind. Interesting find though!

I get Game Informer, but recently I've discovered some mistakes in their magazine. In the last issue, the neglect from saying that both Left 4 Dead and Prince of Persia are for the PC. While those aren't altogether that large of mistakes, it's Left 4 Dead, a game by Valve! Their reasoning for not saying it's on the PC eludes me.

Techically, it's quite possible. Killzone 2 is undoubtedly being developed on a PC, and the XBox 360 isn't that far removed from a PC, so it could easily happen. I've used compilers before that actually have a literal switch to re-optimize the code to run on a different hardware platform. Trickier business is just handling content issues when different hardwares are unable to serve it properly (say the textures are built to be served at 640x480 and the hardware can only handle 320x240 so the textures need to be re-rendered).

Under this logic, the reasons why every game isn't made for the PC is probably to do with marketing decisions. The PC is rife with piracy, sometimes as high as 90% versus legitimate purchases (World of Goo, which was released without DRM and was a good game). Also, without console exclusives, it's hard to justify the existence of more than one console. Artificial scarcity is a large part of capitalism, really.

GameInformer is a total rag that devalues the glossy paper it's printed on... they have zero journalistic integrity... i've caught numerous typos and inconsistencies within their pages, so it comes as no surprise.... (i get them for free as well, but am not sure that they're worth even that.)

I've noticed this too. They really need to start checking their information. I got into a twenty minute argument with my friend about Halo 3: Recon because they said that it was an expansion where you would be able to unlock the "recon" armor. I said that they were way wrong and ended up having to link him to the Bungie website so that he could hear it from their mouths that GI was wrong. I've never trusted that magazine, and now I have even more of a reason to.

I was too busy playing Halo and fighting real aliens back when the first one came out. Though, being the game connoisseur that I am, I'll at least rent it.
I'm more excited for games like Brutal Legend of course.

As long as we're insulting GameInformer, I could point out that typos are the least reason you should question their journalistic integrity. They're Owned by GameStop/EBGames, a game retailer that makes its money selling games. Giving a game that they have in stock a bad rating is effectively committing suicide. The only way they can be honest in a review is to know ahead of time the game will suck so they purchase only few copies to sell and can get away with giving it a bad rating.

i think you meant gamestop, not gamespot... but yeah, i know what you're saying... "All the games we stock are good... our magazine even says so!"

Well I'd heard about it. I don't know if it's true, nor do I really care. The first one was disappointing after all the hype.

I can't count the number of times I've seen other make that mistake, looks like I've joined their ranks. Cheerfully edited.

You might want to check your facts. Once Halo 3: ODST launches, everyone who completes the VidMaster achievements in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST will unlock Recon armour for Halo 3 multiplayer.
Bungie have confirmed this.

That is interesting. It's probably a type, since no one's heard of anything like that, IGN didn't have a 360 version of it, and a google search didn't turn up any news either. If it does end up coming out for the 360, I'll definetly have to see if it's good and get it if it is.

And you might want to make sure you have the name of the game right. It's Recon, not ODST. Just saying, you might confuse some people.
