'One in every five players is female.'
Considering that 40% of gamers are female, that's one hell of a sausage party.

As a note, in China at least they do not charge 15 dollars USD for a month's subscription. That rate would equal roughly 1170 yuan per year at current exchange rates.Lloyd O Siadhail said:47% is Asia 5,405,000 Players @ 15 $ (most sites said they charge US currency for transaction fee) 81,075,000 (monthly) | Yearly(*12) (972,900,000)

Exactly what I was thinking, it's a shame really, because I know that one piece of that infographic is complete bullshit I can't accept the rest of it either. If there was only 8 legendary items, then how on earth could my guild have one and not be listed?coldalarm said:Those figures for "Legendary" seem completely wrong. I'm pretty damned sure there's more than 8 Legendary items floating about, especially when one factors in Karazhan.

Yeah I noticed that I tried to find the most accurate payment method. But yes I did notice alot of those figures in the article were probably in-accurate.Aphroditty said:I'm sure somebody has mentioned already, but that figure of NetEase's 1.1 billion yuan value translating to 1.59 billion US dollars is incorrect.

The Asian stuff isn't entirely correct. They pay differently than we do (different pricing models including pay-by-the-hour), their exchange rates are much lower than ours, and a lot of the money is taken by the Chinese operator (who, in turn, bears the costs of running the game).Lloyd O Siadhail said:**********************************************************************************************

Taking the Pie chart is accurate in description of the player database and self-assuming the graphical percentages of each quantant we get the following figures.

This isn't even including other games its just World of Warcraft online not even including the Blizzard Store and also I haven't taken in to account, how many employees are with Blizzard Entertainment and what each individual is getting paid and furthermore what cut the Investors are getting, along sided with the CEO etc...
This company is big and its only touched the surface. Letting from seeing there time-line leaked sheet of there proposed business plan for the next 10 years....
Yeah I was unsure about calculating the Asia's Quarter cause I hadn't have to many proper confirmed figures to come by... If any one knows the Asia monthly cost would be helpful to get some correct calculationsJohn Funk said:The Asian stuff isn't entirely correct. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that the Asian market only accounts for something like 8-5% of Blizzard's total revenue despite its size.
Just had to respond to your, "How is pushing women away and being surrounded by men in a gaming atmosphere reinforcing your heterosexuality" statement.SinisterGehe said:-Snip-
First of all that's EXACTLY what you are saying. "Push women away to have worthwhile competition".frjiolefrito said:They aren't smart enough to stop instinct and think, so they force away women to surround themselves with viable competition. I'm not saying it's right, smart, or that no woman could compete with a man.
I just quit about 2 weeks ago and our 10 man raid team consisted of 4 female players. One left a few days before I did but I talked to the raid leader and he's replacing my Tank slot with another female player... lol still 4/10 females on the team.SinisterGehe said:They usually pretend to be male or hide from public. And you know really well why... Gaming world isn't the friendliest place for a woman to be in, which is so fucking sad as a fact.Bigsmith said:All of this is amazing and all.. but the only thing that stood out to me was that 1 in 5 players are female. I no a few female players but I really didn't expect that many.
But It always got me wondering; Why does insulting and pushing women away from your surroundings so you are left surrounded by men, reinforce you heterosexuality? Doesn't seem logical to me. Or insulting women and acting all sexist, you piss them off and drive them away. How does that reinforce your heterosexuality?
GOsh... I hate this world.
But anyway on topic:
Interesting numbers indeed, only if Blizzard wouldn't be fucking up and losing things because of their changed attitudes of ruining content so "everyone could see it"... Oh Well...
