'One in every five players is female.'

Considering that 40% of gamers are female, that's one hell of a sausage party.

I'm sure somebody has mentioned already, but that figure of NetEase's 1.1 billion yuan value translating to 1.59 billion US dollars is incorrect.

47% is Asia 5,405,000 Players @ 15 $ (most sites said they charge US currency for transaction fee) 81,075,000 (monthly) | Yearly(*12) (972,900,000)
As a note, in China at least they do not charge 15 dollars USD for a month's subscription. That rate would equal roughly 1170 yuan per year at current exchange rates.

I don't get it. Seriously, how can it be so popular??
I guess it just grows on its own popularity.

YOY! WOW is totally dominating the asian market is it not o_O
Its interesting considernig that the chinese are behind with 1 expansino.
I bet thats what the devs are doing right (editing it for the chinese) now instead of improving the US/EU versions.

Those figures for "Legendary" seem completely wrong. I'm pretty damned sure there's more than 8 Legendary items floating about, especially when one factors in Karazhan.
Exactly what I was thinking, it's a shame really, because I know that one piece of that infographic is complete bullshit I can't accept the rest of it either. If there was only 8 legendary items, then how on earth could my guild have one and not be listed?

/stupid.

Yeah I noticed that I tried to find the most accurate payment method. But yes I did notice alot of those figures in the article were probably in-accurate.

Ok so we basically know there upkeep in a day which is 136,986 $ so basically take an average month of 30 days and you have 4,109,580(monthy) | 49,314,960 (Yearly) $ Upkeep costs this is what we know.

Taking the Pie chart is accurate in description of the player database and self-assuming the graphical percentages of each quantant we get the following figures.

53% is America, Europe and Other
47% is Asia 5,405,000 Players @ 15 $ (most sites said they charge US currency for transaction fee) 81,075,000 (monthly) | Yearly(*12) (972,900,000)

19% (2,185,000 Players) Europe 28,383,150 Euros (monthly) | Yearly (340,597,800)
24% (2,760,000 Players ) America 41,400,000 Dollars (monthly) | Yearly (496,800,000)
10% (1,150,000 Players ) Other 17,250,000 Dollars (monthly) | Yearly (207,000,000)

Total 87,033,150 (Monthly) 1,044,367,800 (Yearly) ratio percentage of 53%
Total 81,075,000 (monthly) 972,900,000 (Yearly) ratio percentage of 47%

Total Gross 162,108,150 Earnings Monthly | 2,017,267,800 (Yearly)

Net Income 157,998,570 Earnings (monthly) | 1,967,953,440 (Yearly)

This isn't even including other games its just World of Warcraft online not even including the Blizzard Store and also I haven't taken in to account, how many employees are with Blizzard Entertainment and what each individual is getting paid and furthermore what cut the Investors are getting, along sided with the CEO etc...

This company is big and its only touched the surface. Letting from seeing there time-line leaked sheet of there proposed business plan for the next 10 years....
The Asian stuff isn't entirely correct. They pay differently than we do (different pricing models including pay-by-the-hour), their exchange rates are much lower than ours, and a lot of the money is taken by the Chinese operator (who, in turn, bears the costs of running the game).

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that the Asian market only accounts for something like 8-5% of Blizzard's total revenue despite its size.

Yeah I was unsure about calculating the Asia's Quarter cause I hadn't have to many proper confirmed figures to come by... If any one knows the Asia monthly cost would be helpful to get some correct calculations :)

Women can't play wow. It's not that wow is HARD on women it's that women expect you to carry her weak night/blood elf priest heals through your heroic. Oh they can have a druid, priest, shaman, and a deathkinght alt... but YOU ask them to move out of the fire? Forget it. Then they are like oh gosh why are you guys so mean!!! Yah because we treat you like we would anyone else. I know! I know! I'm supposed to like you cuz half the guild talks seksy time with you? Some of the females flirt with everyone than get mad when feelings are hurt. I'm amazed multiple fatties like their 5'2 260 pound pasty bum.

Just had to respond to your, "How is pushing women away and being surrounded by men in a gaming atmosphere reinforcing your heterosexuality" statement.

I think your argument that pushing them away is flawed simply because, nature dictates we men compete amongst ourselves to show superiority and dominance. All games are competition, even if you play them solo, you're competing with someone or something. It's no question why the ignorant folk push women away if you look at it in that light.

They aren't smart enough to stop instinct and think, so they force away women to surround themselves with viable competition. I'm not saying it's right, smart, or that no woman could compete with a man.

But if you really think about it, and try to grasp the concept that humans are just evolved animals... Well yeah it makes perfect sense =D

First of all that's EXACTLY what you are saying. "Push women away to have worthwhile competition".

Secondly, even if that was right, which is not, that still doesn't make sense at all since men compete in order to impress women. Without women competition and bragging among males is next to useless.

Bottom line, pushing women away is the exact opposite of being heterosexual, so don't do it. Unless you are gay, in which case do it all you want.

So your telling me they gain around 5millon per day JUST from the subscription while only spending 100 thousand, Dont tell me other country's have different plans, I seen that Chinese WoW players pay 5$ for 24 hours of play time or something like that, So its not cheap just saying.

Next time i hear a person telling me that WoW "needs" the subscription i going to explode this little sheet into their face

800 million dollar in subscription fees for America and Europe.
From the other figures you can deduce that this is probably the yearly amount instead of perhaps the monthly, daily or 'lifetime up until now' subscription fees.

the infographic also depicts first 11-12 computers and then states each computer represents 1700 computers. It would be helpful to use such visual representation of a quantity if you would compare two or more elements, for instance WOW vs EVE, so you could visualize the difference

Also if the average american play 22.7 hours a week and and there are approximately 2.5 million americans who play WOW then this must mean the average WOW player in america must play more hours per week then the 168 hours in an average week. (population US 300 million North America 500 million). So the 22.7 is probably, despite what the title might suggest, the average for american WOW players only.

It does list sources (including wikipedia)

I like infographics :p

All of this is amazing and all.. but the only thing that stood out to me was that 1 in 5 players are female. I no a few female players but I really didn't expect that many.
They usually pretend to be male or hide from public. And you know really well why... Gaming world isn't the friendliest place for a woman to be in, which is so fucking sad as a fact.

But It always got me wondering; Why does insulting and pushing women away from your surroundings so you are left surrounded by men, reinforce you heterosexuality? Doesn't seem logical to me. Or insulting women and acting all sexist, you piss them off and drive them away. How does that reinforce your heterosexuality?

GOsh... I hate this world.

But anyway on topic:

Interesting numbers indeed, only if Blizzard wouldn't be fucking up and losing things because of their changed attitudes of ruining content so "everyone could see it"... Oh Well...
I just quit about 2 weeks ago and our 10 man raid team consisted of 4 female players. One left a few days before I did but I talked to the raid leader and he's replacing my Tank slot with another female player... lol still 4/10 females on the team.
