So I just turned 20 a week ago and have been gaming for as long as I can remember and I dont ever plan on stopping. My dad's 47 years old and is a gamer (and I mean like God of War, Grand Turismo and Halo, not Peggle and Bejewled) and has been way longer than I. So my question is this, do you guys that you really ever get to old to play video games?

Your grammar seems to lapse at annoying places... It annoys me...

OT: No, you can't ever be too old. I'll play a game if I ever want to; my age carries no weight in the issue.

I'll put it this way. They'll have to pry my mouse from my cold, dead, arthritis crippled hands.

Not in the sense that video games are for kids and you should stop playing them when you hit a certain age. That's just ridiculous. It is possible that you could get too old to play video games when your reflexes become too slow to do well in games, then it might be time to think about at least cutting back and trying different stuff to keep the frustration down.

Reaction times/reflexes tend to slow down with age, so most people probably won't still be playing fast/twitchy games competitively at a high level as they get older, but other than that, go nuts. As long as you can still see the screen and your arthritis isn't too bad to manage the controls, I'm not sure what age has to do with it.

As long as you are physically able to play and as long as you are having fun then no, there is no such thing as too old for gaming.

No. I think it's cool when older people are gamers and I expect to be a gamer for the rest of my life.

Yay. Not just me.

On topic: I've always wondered what my friends and I are going to be like when we hit fifty and up. No one we know in the previous generation plays video games, so we're all a little curious. Not sure if we'll get bored, or if we'll keep playing till we die.

Then you switch to Strategy games. Don't require amazing reflexes.

I think I won't stop playing before it is absolutely physically impossible to do so. Ofcource some people kinda "get over" their gaming hobby or just don't have the time or resources to keep it up, but I'm pretty sure that I won't be stopped by those. So basically, as long as it's possible and fun, you can keep on playing.

Never too old to be a gamer. My boyfriedn is 30 now and his whole life revolves around games. It wont stop anytime soon. I also think it is more accepted for older (non-teenage) people now.

To quote a quote I saw in someone's signature:

You do not quit playing video games because you're old, you get old because you quit playing video games.

I don't think you are too old to play games, just play them until you no longer want to play. I see myself playing games for the rest of my life unless there is some reason I cannot.

I am 35 and own over $4000 in consoles and games. I own several gaming PCs and scores of Steam and boxed PC games.

My wife is 30 and is as die hard as I am.

We plan on being buried with our games.

Well cept the 360 - That would be more like cremation once the thing catches fire.

No, I don't think so, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the responsibilities you acquire as you get older.

Although I hate reading about developers making games shorter as 'most gamers now have jobs and families'. That's just bullshit.
I don't mind shorter games really, aslong as they are quality.
Most gamers DO have jobs and the average gamer age is now above 30 years old.
I rarely finish long campaigns anymore. Short skirmishes and alot of replay value is what I prefer.

Too old is when you can't see the screen and your hands are too gnarled by arthritis to hold the controller.. then you are too old. But so long as you are physically capable and derive some fun out of it then you're young enough!

Edit: Though personally I'll be too old for gaming when they prise the mouse and keyboard out of my cold dead hands.

Bloody run-on sentences. Anyway, no I don't think I is possible to be too old for gaming. I tend to keep funding this habit of mine into the future.

Ha! I'm 19 and got around 4000 euros spend on games alone. With all the hardware included it'll get around 7000-ish. That's almost $9000!

I've told people before, they told me that was kinda embarrassing, they told me it was kinda sad, they told me I could've spend that money a lot better. But you know what? I'm anything BUT ashamed for it! I love games, I'm passionate about them. Yes I spend a fuckton of money on them, but it was worth every. single. penny. Well, ignoring some unfortunate purchases, but even they learned me something.

That should tell you enough,
