I would only buy this game from Steam or GOG. GFWL is a virus.

It doesn't use GFWL. You just download using their client then you can uninstall the client and keep the game. No DRM after that.

But i would never support anything thats affiliated with GFWL. Seriously let it die already.

AOE3 is not even available in the French store and the cheapest game is at 9.99 euros,I'm guessing it's the same for all of Europe.

Not super into the RTS genre. I don't dislike it... it just isn't my favorite genre.

In Europe here too (Ireland), it wouldn't let me download from the site. I had to Google Games for Windows Live Marketplace and download the client, then find the game through the client and buy it that way. It said only 10 cents for me but I payed 10 Microsoft Points, can't imagine it being different for the rest of Europe

I may be optimistic here, but if Microsoft can get their shit together and make this a worthy adversary to Steam, it could be damn good for digital distribution. After all, competition breeds excellence/success/innovation/what-have-you.

Steam sales are incredible now, but think about how great they'd be if there was a genuine threat they had to deal with.

Even if GFWL fails, I got AoE III out of it with those leftover MS points I'd never spend. Win-win in my book.

Same. GFWL sucks, especially compared to Steam. But it's not like I've got anything else I can spend 30 Microsoft points on.

It's the Games for Windows Marketplace, not the Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace. Big difference.

AoE III was out before LIVE even existed, I think. I'm downloading it now, but there's no sign of LIVE being included.

I've had this client lying around ever since I installed Arkham Asylum last year. It's even less intrusive than Steam (as in, I forgot I had it).

Just thought you should know.

It's the GFW Marketplace. LIVE doesn't enter this equation.
