It is a little surprising that not even a single (non-kart)Super Mario game ended up on the Top Ten sellers list. For that matter, I'd have expected a few more sports games and first person shooters on the list.
Do most of those things sell from used game shops? Maybe they are right to worry about them impacting sales, after all.

I should stop watching so much Law and Order.
NNNOOOO, Law and Order is awesome! Even without the original detectives (RIP Jerry Orbach), the new guys are pretty good.

Anywho, on topic, I'm alittle surprised that so many of those games seem to have been created less than 3 years ago.

Of the entire list, the only games I had were the MW ones. I only owned MW2 for a grand total of about 18 hours but unfortunately I still contributed to that list, albeit slightly.

Huh, Guitar Hero 3 the second, beating Modern Warfare 2?

Can anyone explain?
I love Guitar Hero 3 but I thought the music games were a bit of a niche market?

The two I stroke out are not video games.

Top game is no surprise...

However, some of them do shock me...like Number 10.

And 3 CoD's...well, goes to prove what the public wants lol
Or how much money actishit is throwing at marketing and skewing statistics in their favor.

How can they include wii play when it is bundled with every single Nintendo Wii that is sold?!? No one (or very few) people ACTUALLY bought the game, they bought a platform and got a free game with it.

That list shows again why our hobby was better as a niche associated with nerds and geeks.

Publishers read this list and we'll get even more generic shooters and casual games and less games we like.

With ten years as a fulltime professional writer under my belt, including running two magazines and being accountable for journalism standards in them, I find the headline, opening line, and second line of the article all contradict each other. I read the article, checked the sources, and also know a little about how videogame sales stats are generated and manipulated. The errors are minor but they'd be caught in a tight newsroom: The Escapist does make a lot of noise about holding themselves to a higher standard than the tweener gaming sites...

Cheers

Maybe you can answer my burning question then: does this list track just original sales, or resales (e.g., through GameSpot) as well?
