Hell, I'd have been happy with the Mass Effect style of a slightly pre-set character, but you can change their face/class etc.
I think I'll pass on this.
It actually IS the Mass Effect style of character creation. Pre-set name and character, but you choose class and appearance. So...yeah.
In regards to the rest of the topic and its posters: I don't get what all the hand-wringing and bemoaning is all about. Like others have mentioned, the Sacred Ashes trailer was almost the same exact thing, and we had the same exact range of responses - from people saying it looked just like a brawler to those saying it looked epic. Gameplay is largely the same - tactical top-down view and gameplay for PC versions, console versions have become more streamlined to play better on the console. Same three classes, same customizable appearance, just with the ME-style set name and conversation system.
I mean, really, does anyone even bother to look anything up anymore? You'd think that on the internet where it takes all of, what, fifteen seconds to find an answer on Google you'd have more people finding out information for themselves instead of seeing something and then engaging in rampant speculation and crying that it's the end of the world and that they've been betrayed.
And no, that's not Morrigan's demon-god-dragon-baby. Confirmed by BioWare, and impossible because the game starts when Lothering gets destroyed. And as for the "super big sword" I think it's actually some sort of staff/halberd/sword thing, probably designed for mages that want to be more engaged in melee. The handle is way too long to just be a big sword, and the blade itself seems to be fairly similar in size to other, more normal swords.
