Yes! I had already decided long ago that I was going to be rolling Bounty Hunter in this game and this confirms my decision.
Boba Fett was a mandalorian, and the Bounty Hunters in ToR all wear mandalorian combat armor (or at least something similar to it). The reason being is that most people crap themselves and surrender when they see their opponent is a mandalorian (even if they are not), which just makes your job easier.Jim Grim said:Why does he look so similar to Boba Fett? He has the same job, yeah, but I don't think that Bounty Hunter is really a profession that requires any kind of uniform.
The Voice Actors don't change based on race, only class and sex. And their will be more than just one alien race for each class. Just nothing very anamorphic, as its hard to get something like an Ithorian to make out with a female human without heavily editing that specific scene. It's just to much work =(Slaanax said:That's some what comforting, I guess the voice acting limits this somewhat disappointingly.JaicerTheBandit said:Each class has an alien.Slaanax said:I don't see any indication about playing an alien, and that really disappoints me kind of ruins the fun for me.
*gut*
THANK you! That is a problem I've noticed too. The Rancor and Sarlac pit used to be rare things but now every two-bit villain has one, sometimes both.Dastardly said:Wow... that trailer actually makes the combat look very disappointing. The Bounty Hunter is just doing his job.

Oh, so one bounty hunter had a flame thrower? ALL bounty hunters should have them! So one bounty hunter froze his quarry in carbonite (which, incidentally, was only because he happened to confront the guy in a freezing facility)? ALL bounty hunters should use it!
It's the same in the books. Everyone is obligated to have a certain concentration of movie-references-per-page, even about things it's reasonable to think most galactic residents wouldn't know.
We get it. It's the Star Wars Universe. But every time you cram the game into tightly-controlled, narrow archetypes, you make that "universe" so much smaller. By constantly including toys, you're constantly removing possibilities.
I agree, the action was really bizarre... Add into it the random extreme rapid-fire blaster and I think it looks pretty disconnected and amateurish.Ultrajoe said:I'm not even seeing combat, I'm seeing delayed action high-school drama performances of what dying and shooting looks like. Forget realism, I just prefer game-play where you can't seriously apply the dialogue 'Argh. I am dead'. It doesn't look 'bad' as it were; I said 'soporific' (meaning it puts you to sleep) not pathetic.rsvp42 said:I'm confused. Where are you seeing bad combat in this?

We AREN'T getting Kotor 3, we're getting an MMO that's going to be kotor 3,4,5,6,etc. Please stop asking for it, I'm getting sick and tired of having to shock people.Red Racer said:I wish they were making KOTOR3 rather then this

Well, on the hardware level, there are barely any differences between Mac's and PC's anymore, so your machine could probably run the game if you installed Windows on it (and it had the right specs, of course, but most newer macs are capable as low level gaming machines). I wouldn't rule out a Mac version either, except if BioWare has said otherwise, many MMO's end up on both Windows and Mac.Zom-B said:Well, I guess if you include Mac as a PC then, yes, I have a PC. I have't looked, but I just naturally assumed that SW:TOR wouldn't be supported on Mac OS.Dr. wonderful said:Wait, how did you type that message though?Zom-B said:Well, I don't have a pc, so won't be playing this, but it actually looks much more promising now. The combat still looked a little bland and the environments and scenes seemed severely underpopulated, but this game may actually have a fighting chance at some success.
Just curious.
Doesn't it seem odd to you that so many people would even know about Rancors, let alone have them? But it's a fan-writer thing, I guess. A bunch of people that grew up Star Wars fans, now they're in the creative industry (whether games, books, or film) and they finally get to play with all the toys for real. And that's what they do. Rather than create something new within a potentially-expansive universe, they tinker with the same old pieces.Endocrom said:THANK you! That is a problem I've noticed too. Although, one could argue that the trailer showed the hunter with all those gadgets as a way to demonstrate customization to players. After all, I didn't see him use the flame thrower and the freeze(carbonite?) spray in the same cut.
In a sense, yes. It's more a feature of LucasArts, and how their stuff is usually handled. But here's what I'm getting at:rsvp42 said:Wha? From what I've been reading the races are kind of limited due to the lore. One of the big things to remember is that this game is set well in the past, and The Sith are coming from remote areas of space to the areas we're familiar with. As a result at this time period certain races like Twi'leks and such that have a "local" homeworld we know about and which are detailed aren't going to be able to be Sith, not because they wouldn't be good at it, or couldn't be Sith (I believe some do embrace it later on down the pipe) but at the time the game it set it's not likely to happen.Slaanax said:I don't see any indication about playing an alien, and that really disappoints me kind of ruins the fun for me.
Don't worry, you're not alone.Sniper Team 4 said:Does anyone else go, "Oooh, Mass Effect," when that BioWare logo comes on? No? Just me? Hm...
I get what you're saying, but it seems like a broad concern for the whole IP, not just BioWare's treatment of it.Dastardly said:In a sense, yes. It's more a feature of LucasArts, and how their stuff is usually handled. But here's what I'm getting at:

So, when SW:TOR decides to make all bounty hunters a copypasta of Boba Fett, they're cutting out a lot of other possibilities. All smugglers are just imitation Han Solos (complete with a wookiee companion). In this universe of limitless possibilities, you're stuck sitting next to the movies the entire time.
Isn't part of a recurring motif in Sat Wars the events mirror each other and similar things happen again and again. The skywalker clan struggles with the Dark side, their is a Sith empire with troopers who wear an armour that completely obliterates individuality, Weapons are created that could destroy planets/solar systems, etc.rsvp42 said:I get what you're saying, but it seems like a broad concern for the whole IP, not just BioWare's treatment of it.Dastardly said:In a sense, yes. They're trying to for iconic characters and stories. The Bounty Hunter class is based on the iconic images of bounty hunters from the movies, as are the rest of the classes with their respective roles, but not every armor set is going to look like the character that inspires the class. It's true that Smugglers have some very Han Solo-esque gear, but they seem to be designing beyond that. They're not limiting themselves to one concept, but they are trying to keep the designs iconic. Part of it is that they're choosing the most familiar of the designs for these class trailers. When the average person thinks "bounty hunter" in Star Wars, they think Boba Fett, so this generalized class trailer appeals to that even though there are armor sets that don't look the same at all.
I understand the desire to see a vision of the SW universe that isn't heavily influenced by the films, but with a big budget MMO designed for mass appeal, things like Jedi, Bounty Hunters, and Smugglers are basically requirements. They're classes that represent some of the most recognizable characters from the IP and I think you'd alienate more people by not having them or by diluting what makes them iconic. I think there's room for deviation and I hope Bioware has taken some creative license, but I don't think ignoring the ideas and imagery of the films would serve them well.
It's just you. I'm well aware of the advanced classes. They're basically just there to turn Boba Fett into "Boba Fett's left side" and "Boba Fett's right side."SomethingAmazing said:Did you forget about the advanced classes? Or is it just me?
