Ugh. As people have said, needs work. Looks hugely better an a certain game involving to tau buuut it needs work. Mostly on the ranged weapons.
The Lascannon is really just a lasgun. After all the typical description for infantry getting hit by a Lascannon is "...and he is turned into a long smear on the ground." It is after all an antitank weapon.
The Plasma Gun should have detonated firing at that speed. And those plasma bolts where pissy.
And the Heavy Bolter looked like a barrel fed Bolter. At least it seemed to be appropriately devastating, unlike the "Lascannon".
And the addition of a flamer wouldn't go amiss.
Complaints aside the melee looks decent.

i don't know how to do this this...
but is there some way we can contact the developers and convince them the increase the size of the lasconnon
i know it is unlikely to work, but we need to to try

I still can't get over the fact that it's one space marine against an army. Space Marines are meant to be tough but they are not a match for hundreds of Orks single handedly. This should have been a squad based game or at the very least a game where you have NPC allies fighting around you.

My other dislike as mentioned before is how you have around thirty enemies surrounding you, but three quarters of them are doing nothing more than stand around shaking their fists, only the ones directly touching the player are making any attempt to fight and they die in about two seconds.

Lascannon was tiny! Anyway, things have certainly come on since Fire Warrior.
That wasn't a Lascannon it was a Lasgun. Someone screwed up putting the video together. Also a Heavy Bolter isn't like a gattling gun, that would be an Assault Cannon that's like a gattling gun.
Oh, I thought 'lasguns' were those things the IG carried around with them; this thing looks a big bigger.

Wow, I wonder, how long they rehearsed those speeches. They basically say that you are a badass Spacemarine who can plow through enemy hordes with such efficency that it hardly matters at all if you fight 20 or 2 at once.
And if your "tactic"-section is described with "You have to realize that there are enemies you have to kill" (refering to James MacDermott's comment at 0:50)or "You can switch between melee and ranged quickly" I'd really reconsider my approach.
I'd give them credit for avoiding that whole "sit in a corner and regenerate health"-bullshit but if the most efficient way to stay alive is to rush into combat ... and combat is the main challenge in the game .... in fact, combat is the only thing your game is about... and most of your opponents are cannon fodder.....
Let's just say there's a high risk of removing challenge alltogether from your game.

And just as it was with Age of Conan, if your main selling points are "It has blood" and "You fight a lot", that's rarely a good sign. Hell, AoC at least promised breasts. Just as desperate but it's more...desperateness.

All in all, that "unique" combat experience (agree with Fronzel on that one) somehow reminds me of the DMC-games....without the whole "hoisting unearthly horrors into the air, then keeping them afloat with your guns just to smash into the ground with your mansized sword"-part.

Again, not a good thing.

I'm willing to bet that the player here waded through tons of orks simply for the purpose of making this trailer look nice :) It's been done before. The game will more than likely be more difficult when you're actually PLAYING it.

Holy crap, you can switch between ranged and melee combat?

Also, no Tyranid? I was hoping for some Space Hulk action.

PS. Ultramarines? Pfft, bloody Gary Sues, the lot of 'em.

PPS. Needs more dakka.

Okay, it looks friggin' awesome, but this wasn't really too informative about the way the gameplay will actually feel...

this game looks like shit. what's the big new gameplay twist? i mean, RUNE did this, FAKK two did this... there's a TON OF GAMES out there, that do exactly that, minus a few adjustments. there might be some crpg elements, because they put them in any game nowadays. it really doesn't look much like fun. enemies seem to be just like moving color bags. with the same ai... where the player essentially seems to be a magnet for the color red.

this game looks tremendously stupid.

Ai needs to be improved, don't like those orks standing around.

Otherwise, am cautiously optimistic, if game is fun to play and lore is done correctly (its relic so should be ok on this front) then as a 40k fan it will likely be a solid 7-8/10 for me, as long as there is 4 player coop ^^

If there isnt...Then game's single player campaign better be of a decent length.

Um they actually didn't SHOW the seamless transition from melee to ranged.
This.

Don't just tell me about a feature, THQ. Show it to me!

That said, the animations do look incredibly fluid, and the collision detection is superb.

And this game definitely screams Co-op. Which would definitely be a selling point for me.

Also. Why do the have to keep my Iron Warriors from me. Let Best Buy have Ravens, give me my Traitor Legions on Steam damn it!

Orrrr, An army painter for Multiplayer or something.

Ah 40k weapons debates (sorry, discussions) gotta love 'em. The problem of course (particularly with bolters) is that over the years different writers and developers have had different ideas about how they all work. Take the bolter. Some sources will say they are fully automatic while others say they're only semi-automatic and others that they fire in bursts. Some will say that regular humans have to use different bolters than the Space Marines because of the huge recoil. While others say that the bolter has little to no recoil and the issue is the shear weight of the gun. Originally bolters used caseless ammunition but then they changed their minds (mostly because they though the image of bolters ejecting cases were more awesome). And this is why bolter debates are fun. Same goes for the colour of ork blood. I think the official stand point is that it's red, but that doesn't stop pictures coming out with black looking blood.

Having said that.

If that, let's just call it a laser weapon, is supposed to be a lascannon then it's just wrong. If it's supposed to be a lasgun then it's VERY wrong.

hmmm... i dunno this video worries me. for couple of reason.

1)space marines are not all powerful monsters. This hit the ground explosion doesn't fit with the lore.
2)too much gore can be a bad thing. if too much focus goes into that then other things will be overlooked. I don't have a problem with blood and gore in theory, but here it seems to be what will mark this out rather than tight gameplay, interesting enemies or the rich lore the WH40K provides.
3)Ultramarines? ehhh....
4)I saw a few other space marines in there, but for the most part you seems to be doing your own thing by yourself. Space marines are based around squad based combat. as infiltrators they may all have their own objectives, but they still work as one. And against an enemy such as the orks this becomes doubly true. I would rather this game focus on squad based combat rather than "I R UH MAN" machismo power fantasy.
5)AI could use some tightening up. as has been said before they look like the troops in dynasty warriors standing about waiting to be killed.
6)some of those weapons... The Lascannon is suppose to be a cannon. That looked like a lasgun, this is not imperial guard. these are the marines give him a shoulder mounted weapons that shoots searing beams of death!

However this was combat and i dunno if this is supposed to finished or not. so here are some things i do like.

1)if they weren't wrong it looks like the combat flows very well from chainsword to bolter blow away orks back to sword shred a warboss awesomesauce.
2)Those are really good combat animations. Bolters seems to have real kick and the bolts actually explode. That chainsword is sufficiently visceral, and the poweraxe and thunder hammer look great.
3)i like lack of cover based shooting, gaining health by facing down more enemies and executing finishing moves is a good design decision for something like marines. It cuts down on the pop out shoot duck recharge health. This system seems less tedious and more combat is what WH40K is about.
4)looks beautiful, the blood/gore splashes pleasingly about and enemies are wonderfully realized.

all and all i need to see more before i can make a decision.

EDIT; wow they really (7) don't show weapon transitions. that disappointing considering thats what they're shouldering the game combat on.

You know, I was hoping for a solid RPG like fallout meets the Adeptus Astarte, this looks a lot more like God of War with perhaps some lovely RPG elements. I am awaiting judgement until I see it but hopefully it is about more than "finsher porn" as it were.

Also, Space Marines are part of a team, they are impressive by themselves, but they are truly deadly when they fight with their brothers.

I want this game to be good, but I just don't know if it will be!

Just to make sure of something...Did anyone notice the fact that the video was ''approved for ALL audiences'' lol? And I'm adimit that I don't know pretty much everything about the series, but shouldn't the game value strategy or stealth sometimes? But maybe I'm just wrong...
Space Mahrenes are really not known for stealth. At all. In lore they way about a tonne, can survive pretty much anything and chew through small critters like papier mache, so this seems about right tbh.
not to mention the stealthy chapters version of stealth is to teleport in or hide yourself in crates and then burst out and fuck shit up in the loudest possible manner.

OT: i was amazed all the way through this trailer the game looks so awesome and from what i saw back last september at games day it has come a long way even though it looked pretty good back then.

definite pre-order as soon as i get paid.

With a bit of luck, when I jump into the 'bastard hard' mode of this, it'll actually feel like I'm bollock deep in a horde of 7 foot tall alien monsters and insane half-demon super soldiers.

Also, if the devs don't have a good 4 player co-op worked into the story, they've seriously missed a trick.

There was never gonna be a day 1 for me, but call me cautiously optimistic =]
we were told back on games day that 4 player coop was definite and you always had your squad with you so if someone was co-op in your game it wouldn't look out of place

If this game can let me pick up an Ork Custom Shoota, and let me lay down enough fire that I start saying "DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA" over and over again, that'll be enough for me.
