Ai needs to be improved, don't like those orks standing around.

Otherwise, am cautiously optimistic, if game is fun to play and lore is done correctly (its relic so should be ok on this front) then as a 40k fan it will likely be a solid 7-8/10 for me, as long as there is 4 player coop ^^

If there isnt...Then game's single player campaign better be of a decent length.

Um they actually didn't SHOW the seamless transition from melee to ranged.
This.

Don't just tell me about a feature, THQ. Show it to me!

That said, the animations do look incredibly fluid, and the collision detection is superb.

And this game definitely screams Co-op. Which would definitely be a selling point for me.

Also. Why do the have to keep my Iron Warriors from me. Let Best Buy have Ravens, give me my Traitor Legions on Steam damn it!

Orrrr, An army painter for Multiplayer or something.

Ah 40k weapons debates (sorry, discussions) gotta love 'em. The problem of course (particularly with bolters) is that over the years different writers and developers have had different ideas about how they all work. Take the bolter. Some sources will say they are fully automatic while others say they're only semi-automatic and others that they fire in bursts. Some will say that regular humans have to use different bolters than the Space Marines because of the huge recoil. While others say that the bolter has little to no recoil and the issue is the shear weight of the gun. Originally bolters used caseless ammunition but then they changed their minds (mostly because they though the image of bolters ejecting cases were more awesome). And this is why bolter debates are fun. Same goes for the colour of ork blood. I think the official stand point is that it's red, but that doesn't stop pictures coming out with black looking blood.

Having said that.

If that, let's just call it a laser weapon, is supposed to be a lascannon then it's just wrong. If it's supposed to be a lasgun then it's VERY wrong.

hmmm... i dunno this video worries me. for couple of reason.

1)space marines are not all powerful monsters. This hit the ground explosion doesn't fit with the lore.
2)too much gore can be a bad thing. if too much focus goes into that then other things will be overlooked. I don't have a problem with blood and gore in theory, but here it seems to be what will mark this out rather than tight gameplay, interesting enemies or the rich lore the WH40K provides.
3)Ultramarines? ehhh....
4)I saw a few other space marines in there, but for the most part you seems to be doing your own thing by yourself. Space marines are based around squad based combat. as infiltrators they may all have their own objectives, but they still work as one. And against an enemy such as the orks this becomes doubly true. I would rather this game focus on squad based combat rather than "I R UH MAN" machismo power fantasy.
5)AI could use some tightening up. as has been said before they look like the troops in dynasty warriors standing about waiting to be killed.
6)some of those weapons... The Lascannon is suppose to be a cannon. That looked like a lasgun, this is not imperial guard. these are the marines give him a shoulder mounted weapons that shoots searing beams of death!

However this was combat and i dunno if this is supposed to finished or not. so here are some things i do like.

1)if they weren't wrong it looks like the combat flows very well from chainsword to bolter blow away orks back to sword shred a warboss awesomesauce.
2)Those are really good combat animations. Bolters seems to have real kick and the bolts actually explode. That chainsword is sufficiently visceral, and the poweraxe and thunder hammer look great.
3)i like lack of cover based shooting, gaining health by facing down more enemies and executing finishing moves is a good design decision for something like marines. It cuts down on the pop out shoot duck recharge health. This system seems less tedious and more combat is what WH40K is about.
4)looks beautiful, the blood/gore splashes pleasingly about and enemies are wonderfully realized.

all and all i need to see more before i can make a decision.

EDIT; wow they really (7) don't show weapon transitions. that disappointing considering thats what they're shouldering the game combat on.

You know, I was hoping for a solid RPG like fallout meets the Adeptus Astarte, this looks a lot more like God of War with perhaps some lovely RPG elements. I am awaiting judgement until I see it but hopefully it is about more than "finsher porn" as it were.

Also, Space Marines are part of a team, they are impressive by themselves, but they are truly deadly when they fight with their brothers.

I want this game to be good, but I just don't know if it will be!

Just to make sure of something...Did anyone notice the fact that the video was ''approved for ALL audiences'' lol? And I'm adimit that I don't know pretty much everything about the series, but shouldn't the game value strategy or stealth sometimes? But maybe I'm just wrong...
Space Mahrenes are really not known for stealth. At all. In lore they way about a tonne, can survive pretty much anything and chew through small critters like papier mache, so this seems about right tbh.
not to mention the stealthy chapters version of stealth is to teleport in or hide yourself in crates and then burst out and fuck shit up in the loudest possible manner.

OT: i was amazed all the way through this trailer the game looks so awesome and from what i saw back last september at games day it has come a long way even though it looked pretty good back then.

definite pre-order as soon as i get paid.

With a bit of luck, when I jump into the 'bastard hard' mode of this, it'll actually feel like I'm bollock deep in a horde of 7 foot tall alien monsters and insane half-demon super soldiers.

Also, if the devs don't have a good 4 player co-op worked into the story, they've seriously missed a trick.

There was never gonna be a day 1 for me, but call me cautiously optimistic =]
we were told back on games day that 4 player coop was definite and you always had your squad with you so if someone was co-op in your game it wouldn't look out of place

If this game can let me pick up an Ork Custom Shoota, and let me lay down enough fire that I start saying "DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA" over and over again, that'll be enough for me.

At first, I was honestly expecting this game to be god-awful...
...but if those clips are anything to go by...
...well, I've definitely got my eye on it now.

Do "gore junkies" exist? I mean, seriously.

Also, this video totally did not sell me on the game. Looks like Darksiders with more numerous but less capable enemies. Mass combat was best done in recent memory in Batman: Arkham Asylum, and no God of War clone nor Dynasty Warriors-"inspired" game has anything nearly as sense-making and skill-centric.

Also, why did they talk about cover mechanics with healing? This is not a FPS. This is not a 3PS. Who takes cover in a beat-'em-up? And for that matter, why indicate positively that your game is wade-in-carelessly-and-maul-everyone? That sounds either completely easy or not sufficiently responsive to skillful manipulation to have much in the way of difficulty curves (For what it's worth, this concern has likely been taken care of in development, but the marketing-talk brings rise to the question nonetheless).

Bear in mind, also, that this is coming from someone who could be described charitably as "apathetic" about Warhammer 40k. Setting concept: "Hey guys, you remember when Christianity was awesome?"

So am I a bad person for not ever hearing about this game until the thread about the "journalist" that claimed this game ripped off Gears?

Game looks like it'll be fun. Gonna buy it for sure unless it ends up getting piss poor reviews.

Man do they really need everything to explode in giant clouds of red mist? I'm fine with blood coating the ground but when killing something blocks half the screen in a giant red blotch it really annoys me.

As much as I love Warhammer 40k, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this game will be painfully mediocre.
